The Effects of Reaching Task Following Selective Trunk Stability Exercise

Cerebral StrokeHemiplegia1 more

This study is performed in a controlled randomized, two-period crossover design to test the efficacy of Abdominal drawing-in maneuver (ADIM) exercise compared to conventional physiotherapy in chronic stroke survivors.

Impact of Biophoton Generator on Chronic-Stroke Patients' Recovery

Chronic StrokeParalysis

The purpose of this clinical research is to verify if the patients with chronic stroke can regain the ability of living independently after daily using Testa BioHealing® Biophoton Generators to increase the energy of the brain and other parts of the body. The main study questions are: Can patients with chronic stroke regain life independence by normalizing Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Can brain-injury and recovery status of the patients with chronic stroke be detected by using an EEG machine. Participants will sleep-rest on a hotel bed energized by Tesla BioHealing Biophoton Generators, and clinical study staff will observe the participant's activities of daily living, as compared to those who will sleep in the hotel room equipped with placebo devices.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Dysphagia in the Stroke Patient

StrokeDysphagia1 more

Participants suffered from acute stroke with dysphagia in single hospital who were determined by CT/MRI and clinical evaluation. Current project will recruit participants and randomize into two groups. One group will receive NMES, traditional swallowing therapy and rTMS therapy five times per week for 2 weeks ; Another group will receive NMES and traditional swallowing therapy with shame rTMS five times per week for 2 weeks. FEES and SSA were used for evaluated swallowing function before the therapy and after 2 weeks therapy.

Augmenting a Post-Stroke Wellness Program With Respiratory Muscle Training

Stroke

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the hypothesis that combined Respiratory Muscle Training and a Stroke Wellness Program is more effective than a Stroke Wellness Program alone for stroke survivors with and without a smoking exposure history. Participants will participant in a Stroke Wellness Program consisting of strengthening, cardiovascular and flexibility training program plus respiratory exercise for 24 sessions (3x/week for 8 weeks). Researchers will compare outcomes to those randomized to a respiratory strengthening program compared to a relaxation training program to see if those who received respiratory strengthening had improved maximal respiratory pressure, improved physical activity and improved quality of life compared to those who received relaxation training.

Power Exercise for Stroke Recovery: The POWER Feasibility Trial

Stroke

Post-stroke deficits are highly common and functional impairment persists throughout life after stroke. Skeletal muscle mass and strength are fundamental contributors to mobility throughout the adult life course. Stroke-related muscle atrophy contributes to loss of strength, and declines in lower extremity function, cardiorespiratory fitness, and walking independence and post-stroke sarcopenia. Improving the quantity and function of skeletal muscle needs to be an important therapeutic target after stroke. Resistance exercise training (RET) has been shown to increase skeletal muscle mass, strength and power, reduce oxidative stress, improve cardiac function, and better regulate lipids after stroke. However, the feasibility and the effects of a power focused RET program for individuals with stroke need to be examined.

Anodal Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation and Cognition in Stroke

Stroke

Pervious literature shows the effects of tDCS and RehaCom on cognition in chronic stage of stroke and only short-term effects were seen, but detailed evidence-based study on cognition in subacute and acute stages of stroke is spare and there is limited number of studies are available on effects of tDCS in cognition in both acute and subacute stages of stroke. Some polite studies were done in acute stage of stroke and only short-term effects of tDCS were evaluated along with other outcome measures including upper and lower limb motor recovery, balance and improving activity of daily living. The long-term effects of transcranial direct stimulation only for the improvement of cognition in subacute stage of stroke are yet to be seen. This study will help us in evaluating the long-term effects of aTDCS and RehaCom cognitive therapy on cognition in subacute stage of stroke.

Evaluation of Noninvasive Vagus Nerve Stimulation on Functional Status in Ischemic Stroke

StrokeIschemic2 more

In this study, the effectiveness of vagus nerve stimulation in patients with right and left hemiparesis will be compared with each other and with the sham application.

Anodal TDCS and Postural Stability in Subacute Stroke

Stroke

Stroke patients experience weakening of muscles on the affected side. Damage to the motor cortex and the pyramidal tract due to a stroke leads to a motor control disorders and co-contraction of trunk muscles due to abnormal levels of abdominal muscle tension and voluntary movement.
