Clevidipine for Vasospasm After Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH)
Subarachnoid HemorrhageCerebral Aneurysm2 moreVasospasm occurs frequently after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and can lead to strokes. The investigators will investigate if infusion of a novel drug, clevidipine, will decrease vasospasm during the infusion and post infusion period using transcranial doppler monitoring of patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage and moderate severity vasospasm
Dapsone Use in Patients With Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.
Subarachnoid HemorrhageBrain Ischemia6 moreDapsone is a drug that has been used clinically for several decades due to its anti-infective effect, making it widely available. Its neuroprotective effects have been found through its glutamate receptors antagonistic effect. Their main objective was to study the neuroprotective properties in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and high-risk factors for the development of cerebral vasospasm. Both the placebo and the dapsone used in this clinical trial were provided by the institution's neurochemistry laboratory.
High-dose Simvastatin for Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
Subarachnoid HemorrhageExperimental evidences supported the benefit of Simvastatin in subarachnoid haemorrhage. Moreover, Simvastatin is a potent agent in achieving low-density lipoprotein (LDL) reduction with a proven safety profile. However, there is no clinical data to compare the efficacy of different dosage regimens (namely whether high-dose regimen is better) and related cost-effectiveness analysis, although biochemical actions and related neuroprotective mechanisms were thought to be dosage-related. This gap in knowledge is important, on how to implement the use of statin and interpret different trial results. With these in mind, the investigators designed the current study. Hypothesis: Daily Simvastatin 80mg (high dose) treatment given within 96 hours of the ictus over three weeks will reduce incidence and duration of delayed ischemic deficits following subarachnoid haemorrhage when compared to daily Simvastatin 40mg (normal dose) treatment, leading to improvement in clinical outcome, which translates into advantage in terms of cost-effectiveness.
Online Spanish Cognitive Intervention Program for Spanish-Speaking Latino/Hispanic Subarachnoid...
Subarachnoid HemorrhageCognitive Impairment3 moreThe purpose of this research study is to examine the effectiveness of an online Spanish cognitive intervention program in Latino/Hispanic Spanish-speaking subarachnoid hemorrhage patients. In particular, the researchers will examine whether cognitive impairments associated with a subarachnoid hemorrhagic event improve after completing the online cognitive intervention program. Secondary outcomes of the research study include examining whether there is an improvement in research participants' quality of life and psychological functioning as a result of the online Spanish cognitive intervention program.
Clinical Research Study With Clazosentan to Evaluate Its Effects on Preventing Complications Due...
Aneurysmal Subarachnoid HemorrhageThis study will evaluate if clazosentan (on top of normal routine medical care) can reduce the risk of developing complications related to cerebral vasospasm and permanent brain damage as compared to normal routine medical care alone.
Acupuncture for Cerebral Vasospasm After Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
SAH (Subarachnoid Hemorrhage)Cerebral VasospasmThis study will evaluate acupuncture's effect of preventing vasospasm after SAH. A total of 80 participants will be recruited and will be randomized to a study group or a control group. Acupuncture, electroacupuncture and intradermal acupuncture will be done at every session in a study group, while mock transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation(mock TENS) and sham intradermal acupuncture will be carried out in a control group.
Study to Evaluate Esmolol (Brevibloc) to Manage Cardiac Function in Patients With Subarachnoid Hemorrhage...
Subarachnoid HemorrhageThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical effect of esmolol treatment on cardiac function and electrophysiology; to assess the effects of esmolol treatment on serum adrenergic and cardiac biomarkers; to explore the safety of esmolol treatment shortly after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Patients will be followed for a maximum of 1 month after the index SAH. The primary outcome will be change in systolic function - ejection fraction by Simpson's rule (baseline versus Day 7 +/- 2 after SAH).
Cervical Spinal Cord Stimulation for the Prevention of Cerebral Vasospasm
Aneurysmal Subarachnoid HemorrhageThe study investigates safety, feasibility and effectiveness of cervical spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in prevention of cerebral arterial vasospasm following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). It is postulated that 2 week long stimulation of the cervical spinal cord using an implanted epidural electrode will prevent or decrease severity of cerebral arterial vasospasm following aSAH.
Clazosentan in Preventing the Occurrence of Cerebral Vasospasm Following an Aneurysmal Subarachnoid...
Aneurysmal Subarachnoid HemorrhageThe purpose of the study is to measure how effective and safe three different doses of the drug clazosentan are in preventing vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage.
A New Approach in Intensive Care Unit Consciousness Assessment: FIVE Score
Postoperative Intracranial HematomaPostoperative Intracranial Haemorrhage13 moreThe primary aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between the length of ICU stay and a newly developed FIVE score in neuro-intensive care patients. The secondary objectives are to evaluate the impact of the FIVE score on hospital length of stay, Modified Rankin Scale, and mortality, as well as to determine the correlation between the GCS, FOUR, and FIVE scores
