Simultaneous Fluoroscopic and Endoscopic Examination of the Oropharyngeal Phase of Deglutition
DysphagiaTo correlate findings between two commonly-used types of swallowing studies: videofluoroscopy and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES).
Description and Modeling of Swallowing Disorders After a Stroke
StrokeSwallowing DisordersThe oropharyngeal junction participates in 3 interpenetrating functions: Swallowing, Breathing and Speech. In the context of ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, these are altered, isolated or associated manner, causing major disorders and representing a source of handicap for patients. Understanding the swallowing mechanisms is therefore a major challenge to guide the rehabilitation and improve the initial and long-term prognosis of patients with stroke. The main objective of this study is to describe and modeling, thanks to a clinical, physiological and radiological knowledge base, swallowing, speech and breathing, in patients with stroke and in healthy subjects.
The Accuracy of Swallowing Disturbance Questionnaire in Screening Inpatient Elderly
Deglutition DisordersThe aim of this research was to examine the accuracy of translated Chinese version of Swallowing Dysphagia Questionnaire and to evaluate the prevalence of dysphagia and its clinical manifestation in patients over 65 years old.
Effect and Complication of Two Types of Nasogastric Tube Feeding for Elderly Dysphagia Patient After...
Deglutition DisordersDysphagia is a common problem after stroke.Patients after stroke with swallow problem will have a nasogastric tube to be feeded. In this study , investigators have including and excluding criteria. Continous feeding group and intermittent feeding group had been widely used in enteral nutrition feeding in investigators' institution. Investigators will observe participants' nutrition condition and tube-feeding related complications. In continous group patients, participants usually are given prescribed enteral nutrient solution using nutrition pump in 24 hours; while in intermittent feeding group, participants will be given prescribed enteral nutrient solution in 4-5 times by special syringe. During the whole process, investigators will observe all participants' nutrition condition (body mass index, plasma albumin and calf girth) and tube-feeding related complications( regurgitation, aspiration, gastric retention, diarrhea, constipation). With all those data, the investigators will assess which feeding type is better.

Routine Screening for Eosinophilic Esophagitis in Patients Presenting With Dysphagia
DysphagiaThe purpose of this study is to identify the prevalence of pathologic eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) in the cohort of adult patients who present for specialty care in the gastroenterology clinics with complaint of difficulty swallowing (dysphagia). From this, the investigators will make recommendations regarding routine screening for the diagnosis in this cohort. The prevalence of EoE in patients presenting for specialty care in the gastroenterology clinics with the complaint of dysphagia is great enough that the diagnosis should be routinely screened against in this cohort.
