Evaluation of a Conservative Treatment by Nocturnal Wrist Orthosis in the Non-surgical Management...

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This study focuses on the evaluation of 2 nocturnal wrist orthosis prescribed as part of a non-surgical management of carpal tunnel syndrome in order to determine their effectiveness in reducing the symptoms associated with the syndrome and to highlight the superiority or the inferiority of one over the other. It will also be possible to assess their comfort and compliance as well as the impact of wearing them on neurological and muscular recovery (functional assessment).

Comparison of Vaginal Hyaluronic Acid Treatment Over Autologous Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment for...

Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause

Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) is a collection of symptoms and signs caused by hypoestrogenic changes to the labia majora/minora, clitoris, vestibule/introitus, vagina, urethra, and bladder that occur in menopausal patients. Platelet-rich plasma is produced by collecting approximately 60-90 ml (4-6 tablespoons) of blood from the vein in patient's arm. The blood is spun using a centrifuge that separates the plasma and red blood cells. The treatment included vaginal estrogen supplement, vaginal hyaluronic acid supplement, vaginal laser, platelet-rich plasma, etc. The observational cohort study will be used for the study design. Questionnaires, pelvic examination, vaginal pap smear with maturation index (MI), vaginal pH, and other methods will be used to evaluate the effectiveness and side effects.

Evaluating Navitoclax After Failure of Standard Treatments of Azacitidine or Decitabine and Venetoclax...

Myelodysplastic SyndromeRecurrent Myelodysplastic Syndrome1 more

This phase Ib/II trial tests the safety, side effects, and best dose of navitoclax in combination with venetoclax and decitabine in treating patients with higher risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) that has come back after initial treatment or was not responsive to initial treatment. This study will also look at the effectiveness of the treatment combination and patient's quality of life while on these medications. Navitoclax is an oral drug that works as an inhibitor of the BCL-2 family of proteins, which are often overly expressed in a wide variety of cancers and are linked to tumor drug resistance. This drug blocks some of the enzymes that keep cancer cells from dying. Venetoclax is an oral drug that works as an inhibitor of BCL-2 proteins that works very similarly to navitoclax by blocking the action of a certain proteins in the body that helps cancer cells survive which helps to kill cancer cells. Decitabine is an intravenous drug. It is a hypomethylating agent which means it interferes with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) methylation. DNA methylation is a major factor that regulates gene expression in cells, and an increase in DNA methylation can block the genes that regulate cell division and growth. When these genes are blocked the overall result allows or promotes cancer as there is no control over cell growth. Decitabine stops cells from making DNA and may kill cancer cells. Participation in this trial may improve the understanding of both chemotherapy response in MDS and mechanisms of resistance to current therapies.

Impact of 'SESL01' Lens on Computer Vision Syndrome

Computer Vision Syndrome

The increased use of digital devices such as computers, smart-phones, tablets, and laptops has transformed how people learn and work and has increased the use of screens. This has created visual challenges for some users, such as maintaining a clear vision for a long period even when looking at different devices. Consequently, digital device users can experience eye problems such as blurred vision, eye strain, headaches, and dry eyes. Such problems are more common in people aged 21-45, and it seems that the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened them. Studies suggest that using specially designed lenses could reduce these problems. Therefore, the investigators aim to study whether specially designed lenses are more effective than standard ones in minimising these problems. The study will be conducted at the University of Central Lancashire at the Preston campus (UK). The study will recruit 300 participants, divided into two equal groups. Participants in group A will receive spectacles with special lenses while group B will receive spectacles with standard lenses. All Participants will be assessed three times, at 4-week intervals, and the final analysis will be performed at 14 weeks. The reduction of the eye problems will be assessed using a validated questionnaire which will produce a score that will be compared between the two groups at the end of the study. The study's potential benefits are twofold: Patients using the new lenses will hopefully see a reduction in eye problems Opticians will provide be able to provide better patient care.

Accelerating Motor Recovering in Patients With SMA Syndrome After Glioma Surgery by Using nrTMS...

Motor Cortex; LesionGlioma1 more

The goal of this randomized clinical controlled trial is to learn about whether neuro-navigation repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (nrTMS) was useful to accelerate the recovery in patients with SMA syndrome after glioma resection. The main questions aim to answer: Question 1: Whether the nrTMS was useful to accelerate the recovery of motor function back to the preoperative status in participants with SMA syndrome after glioma resection. Question 2: Whether the nrTMS was useful to improve postoperative motor function in participants with SMA syndrome after glioma resection. Participants will continue to receive nrTMS treatment or nrTMS sham-treatment for 7 times on the 8th day after glioma resection to determine whether the TMS was helpful for exercise rehabilitation. The investigator will evaluate the effects of nrTMS treatment through the ratio of recovery of motor function and the time that was from the participants suffering SMA syndrome to totally recover the motor function to the status of motor function in pre-operation.

An Investigation of Psilocybin on Behavioural and Cognitive Symptoms of Adults With Fragile X Syndrome...

Fragile X SyndromeBehavior1 more

Diverse symptomatology makes Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) difficult to treat, and currently there are no approved prevention or treatment methods for FXS. Current therapies, including pharmaceutical and behavioural interventions, offer a patchwork of solutions that have limited efficacy and high toxicity. The current study aims to examine psilocybin as a safe treatment alternative with the ability to improve markers of cognition, communication, mood, behavior as well as markers of neuroinflammation, serotonin levels in exosomes, and neuroplasticity at sub-hallucinogenic doses (microdosing). The overall objective of this study is to assess the feasibility of low-dose psilocybin as a therapeutic option for individuals living with FXS and to improve diagnostic parameters of FXS, as well as therapeutic responses with the use of biomarkers.

A Research Study Looking at How Safe Somapacitan is and How Well it Works in Children Who Need Help...

SGATurner Syndrome2 more

The purpose of this study is to find out if somapacitan is safe and how well somapacitan works in children either born small for gestational age or with Turner syndrome, Noonan syndrome or idiopathic short stature. Somapacitan is a new growth hormone medicine for treatment of low level of growth hormone. The study will last for about 3 years. During the study, the participants will be treated with somapacitan once a week. Somapacitan can be injected anytime during the day. The study doctor or nurse will show how to inject somapacitan, so that the participant knows how to do it at home.

Investigation of the Effectiveness of Core Stabilization Training in Patients With Subacromial Impingement...

Subacromial Impingement Syndrome

Subacromial Impingement Syndrome (SSS) is one of the most common shoulder problems. The core region is considered a kinetic link that facilitates the transfer of torque and angular momentum between the upper and lower extremities during body movements. The decrease in core stabilization affects both trunk control and the quality of extremity movements depending on the kinetic chain in the body. The improvement in core stabilization balances the load transfer between the trunk and the extremities and reduces the asymmetry between the extremities. Core stabilization training should be included in rehabilitation programs as core stabilization is adversely affected in patients with CNS. For this reason, this study was planned to examine the effects of core stabilization training applied in addition to conventional treatment in patients with CNS on pain, range of motion, upper extremity function and core stability.
