A Study of the Metabolic Syndrome in Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Metabolic SyndromeCardiovascular Risk Factors1 moreAn increased prevalence of the metabolic syndrome has been found in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus in recent years.
Study to Evaluate the Natural History of Osteoporosis in Children and Adolescents With Systemic...
Lupus ErythematosusSystemicThis is a study to determine if people with Lupus have weak bones. Test which is a better method for detecting bone changes: Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) Single energy quantitative computed tomography (SEQCT) Evaluate whether weak bones are associated with things like medications or amount of fat and muscle.
Neuromuscular Ultrasonography Utility for Detection of Peripheral Neuropathy in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus...
Peripheral NeuropathySystem; Lupus ErythematosusThis study aims to evaluate the rule of NMUS in detection of peripheral neuropathy in SLE patient and to correlate it to traditional neurophysiological studies, clinical signs and activity of SLE.
Belimumab (BENLYSTA®) Pregnancy Registry
Systemic Lupus ErythematosusThis global Belimumab Pregnancy Registry will collect prospective data on pregnancies and pregnancy outcomes on a voluntary basis in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who have received commercially supplied belimumab within the 4 months prior to and/or during pregnancy. The registry will also evaluate outcomes of infants born to mothers who were exposed to belimumab within the 4 months prior to and/or during pregnancy. This registry will add to the current clinical experience with belimumab and will complement reproductive data from animal toxicology studies. It will also assist clinicians in weighing the potential risks against the benefits of treatment for individual patients with SLE. GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) will sponsor the Belimumab Pregnancy Registry in countries where it holds Marketing Authorization.
Prospective Maternal Surveillance of SSA (Sjögren Syndrome A) Positive Pregnancies Using a Hand-held...
Sjogren's SyndromeNeonatal Systemic Lupus Erythematosus1 moreThe purpose of the research study "Heart Sounds at Home" is for pregnant SSA or SSA/SSB (Sjögren syndrome B) antibody positive mothers to use a Doppler fetal heart rate monitor to detect abnormal heart rates and rhythms in their babies before they are born.
Validation of a Mobile Phone Based on EPRO Tool in Subjects With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
SLELupus Erythematosus2 moreSystemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) may involve a variety of organ systems expressed differently from patient to patient, and so can be difficult to characterize clinically. Patient reported outcomes (PROs), which consist of feedback directly from patients regarding their symptoms without interpretation by a clinician, are typically used in SLE to supplement other clinical measures. Standard PROs typically used in SLE include the 36-item short form health survey (SF-36), the functional assessment of chronic illness therapy - fatigue (FACIT-F), and the patient global assessment (PtGA), administered by paper or electronic tablet during the clinic visits. The recent development of electronic mobile device technology, such as the smartphone, has made it possible to collect PRO information away from the clinical site in the subject's environment. This study will assess by measurement equivalence testing whether data collected via a smartphone are comparable to that collected in standard fashion and whether PROs obtained in the subject's environment may be more informative than that collected in the physician's office on paper.
Analyzing the Association of Gene Variants With Increased Risk of Coronary Heart Disease in Women...
Lupus ErythematosusSystemicSystemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that predominantly affects younger premenopausal women. The risk of coronary heat disease (CHD) in women with SLE is up to 50 times higher than in the general population. The conventional risk factors are insufficient to explain this increased risk of CHD in SLE-affected women. This study will perform genetic analysis to determine if genetic variation in the F2 gene is associated with both SLE risk and CHD risk in women with SLE.
Epidemiologic Study of Reproductive Outcome in Women With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Systemic Lupus ErythematosusOBJECTIVES: I. Evaluate whether pregnancy is an independent risk factor that affects disease activity in women with systemic lupus erythematosus. II. Evaluate whether maternal disease activity is a risk factor for adverse pregnancy outcome.
Lupus Cohort--Thrombotic Events and Coronary Artery Disease
Cardiovascular DiseasesCoronary Disease4 moreTo study longitudinally the incidence, pathogenesis, and risk factors for thrombotic events and coronary artery disease in a cohort of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Clonal Hematopoiesis of Indeterminate Potential and Accelerated Atherosclerosis in Systemic Lupus...
Systemic Lupus ErythematosusAccelerated atherosclerosis in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is not fully explained by Framingham risk factors. The detection in asymptomatic patients of somatic mutations in genes involved in hematopoietic malignancy- defining clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) - predisposes to cardiovascular events (CVE) in general population. We aimed to determine whether CHIP is associated with CVE in SLE.
