Cognitive Dysfunction in Postural Tachycardia Syndrome

Postural Tachycardia Syndrome

A common complaint among people with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) is "brain fog" or difficulty concentrating. This is very poorly understood. To better understand this cognitive dysfunction, the investigators will test people with POTS and people without POTS using various neuropsychiatric instruments. The investigators hypothesis is that people with POTS will have greater abnormalities on neuropsychiatric testing than normal controls.

Head Circumference Growth in Children With Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Who Develop Dysautonomia Later...

Ehlers Danlos SyndromeExternal Hydrocephalus3 more

It is known that 33-50% of Classic and Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome patients eventually develop dysautonomia, otherwise known as "POTS" (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Some of these patients develop dysautonomia as a result of a retroflexed odontoid, Chiari 1 Malformation or cranial settling and the resulting basilar impression. Many Ehlers-Danlos patients suffer with the same symptomology with no evidence of a cause according to MRI imaging. It is the author's hypothesis that low-level External Communicating Hydrocephalus appears to be responsible for the constellation of autonomic and cranial nerve symptoms, and if present in the very young, an analysis of head circumference growth in the first 15 months of life should reflect abnormally rapid head growth, supporting this hypothesis.

Comparison of Video Laryngoscopy and Direct Laryngoscopy for Nasotracheal Intubation During Pediatric...

Airway Complication of AnesthesiaPeroperative Complication4 more

Background and Objective: Airway control is a condition that should be evaluated primarily in anesthesia practice in the pediatric age group. Failed intubation or prolonged intubation duration can cause atelectasis and hypoxia in children. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of Macintosh laryngoscopy and McGrath videolaryngoscopy on hemodynamic parameters in pediatric patients who were scheduled to undergo elective dental surgery and required intubation for the application of general anesthesia. Methods: Sixty-six patients were divided into two groups according to the procedure used during intubation, namely, direct laryngoscopy or video laryngoscopy. The Cormack-Lehane and Mallampati scores, intubation duration, heart rate at minutes 0, 1, 3 and 5 during intubation, mean arterial pressure, EtCO2and SpO2 values were recorded for all the patients.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Performance of Professional Rescuers With a New Defibrillation Algorithm...

Cardiac ArrestSudden3 more

In the Paris (France) Medical Emergency system, in the early phase of Out-of-hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA), the treatment of a Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) consists of delivering an External Electric Shock (EES) by a rescuer with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This latter realizes a cardiac rhythm analysis every two minutes. This analysis requires that chest compressions (CC) be interrupted for a while. However, CC interruptions are potentially harmful due to the brain, and heart perfusions decrease. On the other hand, the recurrence of VF occurs mostly during the first minute after the shock, whereas the delay between 2 rhythm analysis is 2 minutes. The consequence is excessive time spent in VF, which is deleterious in terms of coronary and cerebral perfusion. The investigator implements a new AED algorithm whose operating principle is as follows. One minute after an EES administration, the AED realizes a cardiac rhythm analysis during which the rescuers do not need to interrupt the chest compressions (CC): this is called the rhythm analysis " in presence of CC" The detection of a VF " in presence of CC " needs to be confirmed, " in absence of CC " The CC's are therefore interrupted for new rhythm analysis. Once the presence of VF is approved, the AED proposes a shock to be administred The aim of the study Study Design: This is a prospective observational study. The eligibility criteria are as follows: Patients in Out-Of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest. Basic Life support care with an AED. The primary endpoint is the " chest-compression fraction (CCF) " that represents the CPR-time performance during the ten first minutes of BLS care ( or < 10 min in case of Return Of Spontaneus Circulation (ROSC))

Impact of Catheter Ablation of Ventricular Arrhythmias on Suboptimal Biventricular Pacing in Cardiac...

Systolic Heart FailureVentricular Premature Complexes3 more

Cardiac resynchronization therapy reduces mortality in patients with systolic heart failure and left bundle branch block. Reduced biventricular pacing can lead to therapy failure. Most effective mortality reduction was seen with a BiV pacing above 98%. Reduced BiV pacing is a common phenomenon with potential impact on CRT-response and pts' prognosis. Frequent ventricular ectopy may be associated with attenuated benefit from CRT. The investigators sought to systematically assess the effect of ventricular arrhythmia treatment on BiV pacing.

RMN Versus Manual Epicardial Retrospective PMCF

Ventricular TachycardiaPremature Ventricular Contraction

Retrospective registry will compare subjects who've undergone a mapping and/or ablation procedure for either ischemic ventricular tachycardia or premature ventricular contraction using an epicardial approach with either manual or remote magnetic navigation. Subjects will be compared with regards to safety, efficacy and mortality.

Tachycardia

This clinical study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Ellipse VR/DR implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs) and the Quadra Assura MP cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds), with Durata or Optisure defibrillation leads, Tendril STS or Isoflex pacing leads, and the Quartet quadripolar leads in a 1.5T MRI environment for MR-conditional labeling expansion of these market-approved ICD/CRT-D systems in China. Note: Protocol updated: Fortify Assura VR/DR ICD removed; Quadra Assura MP CRT-D and Quartet leads added. The Detailed Description Section below was updated upon protocol amendment.

Assessment of Vascular Endothelial Function in Postural Tachycardia Syndrome

Postural Tachycardia Syndrome

The purpose of this study is to see if people with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) have different levels of certain chemicals in their blood than people who don't have POTS. This study will test whether the blood vessels of people with POTS will react differently to certain tests than people without POTS. The hypothesis of the study is: Patients with POTS will have vascular endothelial dysfunction compared with control subjects.
