MBM-01 (Tempol) for the Treatment of Ataxia Telangiectasia

Ataxia Telangiectasia Louis-BarAtaxia Telangiectasia in Children1 more

Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T) is an autosomal recessively inherited neurodegenerative disorder that also has dramatic effects on the immune and endocrine systems. The disorder results from mutations in the A-T mutated gene (ATM) leading to a loss in the production of the ATM protein. The active compound in MBM-01 (4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl) may substitute for the loss of ATM by protecting cells from DNA damage, preventing and reducing oxidative damage, triggering an increase in cellular survival proteins, and preserving the brain and peripheral immune system.

Octreotide in Patients With GI Bleeding Due to Rendu-Osler-Weber

Hereditary Hemorrhagic TelangiectasiaGastrointestinal Hemorrhage1 more

The purpose of this study is to determine whether long-acting octreotide is safe and effective in the treatment of patients with Rendu-Osler-Weber (e.g. HHT). The study hypothesis is that octreotide is safe and will reduce transfusion requirements and endoscopy frequency in ROW patients with refractory anaemia due to bleeding gastrointestinal telangiectasias.

Counseling Intervention in Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia in the COVID Era.

Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia

The goal of this interventional study is to determine the incidence of depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances and resilience in a sample of subjects affected by Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia. The study is declined through the evaluation of some outcome parameters at the time of enrollment (T0), during the counseling intervention (T1 and T2) and at the end (T3) of the subjects who will have carried out an individual counseling intervention.

Evaluation and Optimization of the Technical and Clinical Performance of the Lumenis ONE Platform...

TelangiectasesPort Wine Stain

The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology, by selective phototermolysis, is used for eliminating, among other application, benign vascular lesions and unwanted leg veins. Light energy heats the deeper structures of the skin. IPL devices provide a broad wavelength spectrum of 515 to 1200 nm and fluence from 10 to 40 J/cm at o.5-1 Hz.The light is focused by a reflector and then transmitted through various filters that cut off the lower wavelength range of the emitted light; therefore, only those wavelengths longer than these of the filters are transmitted. objectives: evaluate and optimize the clinical performance of the Luminis ONE platform for each of the aforementioned clinical applications. Reconfirm the parameter settings for each of the aforementioned clinical applications. Confirm the user friendly design of the device, in aspects of software (user interface) and various technical operational features.

Treatment of Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia of the Nasal Mucosa by Intranasal Bevacizumab...

TelangiectasiaHereditary Hemorrhagic

Epistaxis are present in over 90 % of patients with Rendu - Osler . They involve no significant difference 2 sexes. They often appear in childhood and adolescence and are present in three-quarters of patients at the age of 20 years. These epistaxis increasing in frequency and volume to the age of 60 in 2/3 of patients. Epistaxis are spontaneous , repetitive and recurring . They are highly variable in duration, intensity and frequency of occurrence . Some patients may have more than 40 monthly episodes with mean duration of 5 minutes of bleeding and chronic anemia and can sometimes acute anemia with transfusions need to be source. These epistaxis stigmatize patients and inevitably affect their quality of life and social skills . The various proposed ( cauterization , intra- mucosal injections, laser selective hémostatses , embolization or surgical dermoplasties ) allow for some short-term remissions . Bevacizumab is an antiangiogenic use in the treatment of colorectal cancers . It is also used in ophthalmology intravitreal to reduce vascular proliferation in glaucoma retinopathy and certain corneal neovascularization. In 2009, Prithviraj reported the use of bevacizumab injection to treat pulmonary arteriovenous malformations in a patient with Rendu - Osler . The result is doubly interesting including a saving action on epistaxis which decrease in frequency and duration. This communication prompted the authors to focus more on this medication. The product has been used in local submucosal injection intranasal laser was coupled with satisfactory results objectified by a decrease in the number of epistaxis , reducing blood transfusions and improved social lives. The use of local instillation bevacuzimab represents a way forward for the treatment of these epistaxis.
