Effectiveness of an Educational Intervention Aimed at Increasing the Emotional Competencies of Patients...
Digestive System NeoplasmsThoracic NeoplasmsEmotional skills are the ability to use emotions cleverly in daily life. Good emotional skills are associated with better mental and physical health in healthy and clinical populations. However, to our knowledge, cancer patients have never benefited from an intervention aiming at increasing their emotional skills. Our goal was thus to design and test such an intervention. A prospective, multi-center, randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be conducted in esogastric and lung cancer patients after antineoplastic treatments. Forty-three patients are expected in each arm. The primary outcome is the change in emotional skills assessed using a patient-reported validated questionnaire between the start and two weeks after the end of the intervention and at 2-month follow-up. The experimental arm will have to follow three individual sessions on emotional skills (i.e. identification, understanding, expression and regulation of emotions) while the control arm will have to follow three sessions of relaxation. In each arm, the first session can be held face to face or over the phone and the last two sessions will be held over the phone. Patients have exercises to practice in between sessions. It is hypothesised that the experimental group will experience a greater increase in emotional skills than the control group.
Comparison Between McGrath and Macintosh Laryngoscopes for DLT Intubation in Thoracic Surgery Patients....
Thoracic DiseasesThoracic Neoplasms1 moreThe goal of this RCT is to compare outcome with McGrath vs Macintosh laryngoscopes among patients undergoing thoracic surgery. The main questions it aims to answer are, Rate of successful intubation at first attempt and Time for intubation required with each device. Participants are required to sign the informed consent for, they will be placed in two groups, Group A: Macintosh (DL) Group B: McGrath (VL) Researchers will compare in Group A: Macintosh (DL) and Group B: McGrath (VL) the differences in rate of successful intubation at first attempt and time for intubation required with each device.
Thoracic Tumours Register
Thoracic TumorsObservational, multicenter study in patients with lung cancer and other thoracic tumors. The GECP, in its commitment to improve the treatment and prognosis of patients with lung cancer and other thoracic tumors, has marked the individualization of treatment according to the expression of markers predictive of response to chemotherapeutic agents and molecular inhibitors of cell proliferation as one of its primary objectives. This could significantly improve the prognosis of patients with lung cancer, and will lead to a radical change in routine clinical practice. The aim of the register is to explore all data available of all patients treated because of thoracic tumours.
Rapid On Site Evaluation of Pleural Touch Preparations in Diagnosing Malignant Pleural Effusion...
Malignant NeoplasmMalignant Respiratory Tract Neoplasm1 moreThis trial studies how well rapid on site evaluation of pleural touch preparations works in diagnosing cancerous fluid in between the linings of the lungs (malignant pleural effusion) in patients undergoing a pleuroscopy. A type of laboratory testing called rapid on site evaluation of pleural touch preparations that uses pleural biopsy tissue samples collected during an already-scheduled pleuroscopy may be able to diagnose malignant pleural effusion.
Feasibility and Safety of a Wireless Palpator
Lung CancerThoracic NeoplasmEvaluation of the ability of the Palpator to detect hidden (occult) lung tumours that cannot be visualized or palpated using the traditional methods of visual inspection, grasper palpation, and VATS ultrasound.
Real World Registry for Use of the Ion Endoluminal System
Lung CancerMultiple Pulmonary Nodules7 moreThe primary objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of the Ion Endoluminal System with real-world use for pulmonary lesion localization or biopsy.
International Lung Screen Trial (ILST)
Non-small Cell Lung CancerLung Neoplasms7 morePeople who may be at increased risk of lung cancer due to age and smoking history will be invited to participate in this international study to determine the best way of using computed tomography (CT) of the chest to screen for early lung cancer. Overseas data show that CT screening (screening tests can find diseases early, when they're easier to treat) can reduce deaths from lung cancer and this study will help determine who is most likely benefit from screening.
Improving Cancer Symptom Management
CancerThoracic Neoplasms2 morePatient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) is an umbrella term that refers to any report on a health status measure that is reported directly by the patient, without the influence of clinicians or anyone else. PROMs have been shown to more closely reflect a patient's daily health status when compared to physician-reported measures. However, research is needed to evaluate if patient symptom reporting during definitive-intent radiotherapy allows earlier and improved detection of treatment toxicity. The IMPROVE pilot study will describe the proportion of patients with cancer with changes in physician-perception of treatment-related toxicity that result from routine physician review of PROMs reported during definitive radiotherapy.
Integrated Care Pathway in Oncology (PASSION)
Colon CancerGastric Cancer6 moreA centralized unit for integrated management of care pathway in Oncology has been created. This unit settles the patients' appointments (biopsy, intravenous device, chemotherapy, imaging, oncologist...). The aim of this study is to assess the delay between the first appointment with the oncologist and the beginning of the antitumoral treatment, and therefore evaluate the efficacy of the care pathway unit. The second aim is to assess the satisfaction of patients and health care teams.
A Home-Based Approach Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Alectinib in Locally-Advanced...
NeoplasmsColorectal Neoplasms30 moreThis study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of alectinib in participants with Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK)-positive locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors other than lung cancer.
