Phase III Trial to Evaluate the Elortinib vs Gefitinib in Advanced NSCLC With EGFR Exon 19 or 21...
Thoracic NeoplasmsThis is a randomized controlled trial to compare efficacy and safety between erlotinib and gefitinib in advanced NSCLC harboring EGFR exon 19 or 21 mutations.Eligible patients were randomized to receive erlotinib or gefitinib in any line settings. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS).
A Multimodality Image-guided System for Peripheral Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Therapy
Lung NeoplasmsThoracic Neoplasms3 moreThe goal of this clinical research study is to test the use of a minimally invasive multimodality image-guided (MIMIG) intervention system used for performing a lung biopsy. The safety of the MIMIG intervention system will also be studied.
Comparison of Post-operative Pain and Quality of Life Between Subxiphoid and Intercostal VATS for...
Lung NeoplasmsThoracic Surgery6 moreOne-thirds of patients underwent video-assisted thorascopic surgery (VATS) still have severe pain.Uniportal lobectomy or segmentectomies emerged as a promising and exciting approach for minimally invasive thoracic surgery. However, nearly all reported uniportal VATS lobectomies have been performed via the intercostal route, and chest wall trauma has still occurred. Here, the investigators undertook novel uniportal VATS technique involving a subxiphoid route for pulmonary lobectomies or segmentectomies. We would like to evaluate the post-operative pain and quality of life between Subxiphoid and Intercostal VATS for Lung Cancer.
A Prospective Study Frailty for Esophagectomy and Lung Resection in Thoracic Surgery
ThoracicThoracic Neoplasm7 moreThe purpose of this study is to develop an all-encompassing frailty model using laboratory and functional studies. A frailty model will help us determine prior to surgery who will require rehabilitation and skilled nursing needs beyond discharge. This model will also help us determine who will likely be readmitted and why they will be readmitted. Understanding these things can help us prevent some of them from occurring in the future.
Studying a New Piece of Equipment That Can Help Plan Radiation Therapy of the Spine
Thoracic CancerSpine Cancer4 moreParticipants will receive an MRI with a custom-built MRI coil for each participant. The purpose is to find out whether this custom-built MRI coil can help doctors see the different parts of the spine as well as or better than they can with standard CT myelograms.
A Comprehensive Smoking Cessation Intervention Duration Radiation for Upper Aerodigestive Cancers...
Tobacco Use DisorderHead and Neck Neoplasms2 moreSmoking is the greatest risk factor for upper aerodigestive cancers (thoracic or head and neck) and negatively impacts survival and other outcomes, but many patients have difficulty quitting after their diagnosis. Smoking cessation interventions for cancer patients thus far have had limited success. This is a pilot randomized controlled trial designed to determine if a new comprehensive, evidence-based smoking cessation intervention can improve quit rates for cancer patients who smoke.
Educational Intervention to Increase the Emotional Competence of Patients With Oesogastric and Bronchopulmonary...
Digestive System NeoplasmsThoracic NeoplasmsThe aim of this study is to test whether a short educational intervention about emotional skills can improve survivor cancer patient emotional skills and quality of life. Half of participants will follow the educational intervention about emotional skills, while the other half will practice relaxation followed by a non-directive talking group. The educational intervention should give better results on patient emotional skills and quality of life than the control group.
Metformin Pharmacology in Human Cancers: A Proof of Principle Study
Thoracic NeoplasmThis is a presurgical (proof of principle, window of opportunity) study in patients with surgically resectable thoracic tumors to determine steady-state tissue and plasma concentrations of metformin.
A Study of ES101 (PD-L1x4-1BB Bispecific Antibody) in Patients With Advanced Malignant Thoracic...
Thoracic TumorsNon-small Cell Lung Cancer1 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, RP2D and PK/pharmacodynamic profile of ES101 monotherapy in patients with advanced NSCLC and to further evaluate the antitumor efficacy of ES101 in advanced malignant thoracic tumors, including NSCLC and SCLC.
Real-time Ultrasound Guidance for Thoracic Epidural Blocks
AnalgesiaThoracic Tumors2 moreVarious modalities have been proposed for real-time confirmation of loss of resistance (LOR) for thoracic epidural blocks. With real-time ultrasound (US) guidance, the anesthesiologist attempts to visualize the sonographic advancement of the epidural needle and penetration of the epidural space (as detected by LOR) This observational study is set out to confirm the reliability of real-time ultrasound guidance as an adjunct to LOR for thoracic epidural blocks.
