Registry on WATCHMAN Outcomes in Real-Life Utilization

Patients With Atrial Fibrillation at Risk for Thrombus FormationThromboembolism1 more

The WATCHMAN LAA Closure Technology is designed to prevent embolization of thrombi that may form in the LAA, thereby preventing the occurrence of ischemic stroke and systemic thromboembolism. The objectives of this observational, prospective, non-randomized multicenter study are (1) to compile real-world clinical outcomes data for WATCHMAN LAA (left atrial appendage) Close Technology in patients who are implanted with the WATCHMAN device in a commercial clinical setting and (2) to collect real-world usage data that may be needed for reimbursement of WATCHMAN technology in certain countries.

An Observational Study on Incidence, Natural History and Treatment Patterns of Venous Thromboembolism...

Venous Thromboembolism

The research question addressed by this study is primarily on the clinical epidemiology of VTE in Taiwan. The study aims to estimate the incidence of VTE and describe natural history of VTE, including long term clinical outcomes in adult Taiwanese population, utilizing population-based electronic health data in Taiwan.

Distribution of Risk Factors for Venous Thromboembolism in Blood Donors

Venous ThromboembolismRisk Factor2 more

Venous thromboembolism occurs with an incidence of about 1 per 1000 per year in adults . The main consequences are death, recurrence, post-thrombotic syndrome and major bleeding due to anticoagulation. Mortality rates are lower among patients with idiopathic venous thrombosis and higher among those in whom thrombosis occurs in the presence of cancer. The risk increases with the age for unclear reasons. There are also differences in the incidence according to ethnicity; however, data in subjects of European ancestry are scarce. Several studies have documented an association between thrombosis and ABO group. Specifically, non-O blood groups have a higher risk of myocardial infarction, angina, peripheral vascular disease, cerebral ischemia and venous thromboembolism than O. While there are numerous studies carried out in patients who have already shown thromboembolic events, data on the incidence of risk factors in the healthy population are completely inadequate. Understanding the risk factors for venous thrombosis is necessary to maximize the prevention of this disease in individuals and groups of high-risk patients . For this purpose a self-administered questionnaire will be used. Data obtained by blood donors on exposure to risk factors will be used to set up a clinical score to validate in future studies to carry out in patients with VTE.

Incidence of Venous Thromboembolism and Professional Practices in Brest Area

Venous Thromboembolism

The aim of this study estimate VTE incidence. Investigators prospectively record all cases of symptomatic pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limbs diagnosed between March 1, 2013 and February 28, 2014 in hospitals and in the community.

Radiation Impact on Thromboembolic Events

Malignant Neoplasm

The aim of the present study is to determine the frequency and to identify main risk factors for venous thromboembolism of venous thromboembolic complications in a population of cancer patients treated with a curative intent by ionizing radiation.

COVID-19 and Venous Thromboembolism Risk

Venous ThromboembolismCovid19

Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is now a leading cause of death among U.S. adults. In addition to profound respiratory and multi-organ failure, hypercoagulable states and venous thromboembolism (VTE) have been increasingly reported in patients with severe Covid-19. The aim of this study is evaluate the risk of VTE related to Covid-19 infection in a real-world community-based population.

Dosing of Thromboprophylaxis and Mortality in Critically Ill COVID-19 Patients

Covid19Thromboembolism

The aim of the study is to associate dose of thromboprophylaxis with outcome in critically ill COVID-19 patients. This will be done by associating dose of thromboprophylaxis with 28-day mortality, survival outside ICU, thromboembolic event and bleeding complications. This was done in our earlier study for patients admitted in March and April (Clinicaltrials.gov NCT04412304 June 2 2020) but now we will include the patients admitted in May, June and half of July and we will ad the outcome of 90-day mortality.

Cancer Associated Thrombosis : What is the Proportion of Patients Ineligible to a Study as CARAVAGGIO...

Venous ThromboembolismCancer

Venous thromboembolism is a common and fatal disease closely related to cancer. The therapeutic challenge is major due to the high risk of recurrent thromboembolism and bleeding in patients with cancer. Guidelines recommend the use of low molecular-weight heparin for the treatment of Cancer-Associated venous Thromboembolism (CAT) at least for 3 to 6 months of treatment. However, recent advances through the results of several therapeutic trials such as CARAVAGGIO (NCT03045406) open the door to the use of Direct Oral AntiCoagulants (DOACs) as first-line therapy. Nevertheless, extrapolation of its results may be limited owing to a large number of inclusion and exclusion criteria, which may have selected a reduced population. The proportion of patients admitted with acute CAT who may not eligible to a trial as CARAVAGGIO is unknown.

COVID-19Critical Illness9 more

Severe COVID-19 patients at a high risk of venous thromboembolism. We studied patients in 2 intensive care units of university hospitals in Barcelona and Badalona, Spain. We performed a cut-off screening of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) with bilateral duplex ultrasound to 230 patients.
