Construction and External Validation of a Predictive Clinico-biological Score of the Risk of Venous...

Venous Thromboembolism

the investigators hypothesize that some of these polymorphisms contribute to VTE risk in women using COC, and that their screening could to help assess individual risk of VTE before COC prescription. In order to test this hypothesis the investigators propose to build a predictive score for VTE in women using COC based on clinical and biological factors. To this end the investigators have a large case study (including 766 patients) recruited at the "Centre d'Exploration des Pathologies Hémorragiques et Thrombotiques" (CEHT) of the laboratory of Hematology (La Timone Hospital, Marseille) between 2003 and 2013. The cases had a personal history of documented VTE while using COC (PILGRIM study). A great number of clinical and biological relevant phenotypes in the field of VTE have already been collected (including 14 polymorphisms selected on the basis of their biological plausibility and the existence association studies). To our knowledge it is the largest study specifically conducted in order to assess genetic factors associated with VTE in women using COC. These 766 cases will be compared to 766 controls from the general population (cohort Nutrinet-Santé). Then, the predictive values of the score will be assessed in an independent multicentric validation study that the investigators will set up in the field of this project. Our study should allow a better understanding of the genetic and environmental factors involved in VTE related to COC use. Besides, this project aims to respond to a major public health issue giving an effective tool for the decision of prescribing COC.

Thromboprophylaxis in Patients Undergoing Orthopedic Surgeries; Comparison Between Rivaroxaban and...

ThrombosesDeep Vein1 more

The main objective is to reduce the incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in orthopedic postoperative patients based on the potential benefit of using rivaroxaban as a monotherapy. It is around efficacy and safety evaluation of using rivaroxaban as a monotherapy prophylactic agent in patients undergoing orthopedic surgeries taking into the account the reliable selection of patients most benefit. Answering questions about additional cost benefit from the perceptive of the cost-effective analysis on extrapolating the results emerged to our university teaching hospital setting are going to be evaluating as well.

Comparison of Accidents and Their Circumstances With Oral Anticoagulants

Cardiovascular ComplicationsHemorrhagic Disorders1 more

Differences in efficacy and safety between new oral anticoagulants (NOAC) and vitamin K antagonist (VKA) in real practice remain uncertain. The few existing ambulatory studies did not answer all NOAC specific issues, such as prescription habits and motives, patients characteristics, biological monitoring, as well as the occurrence of major and minor thromboembolic events, especially in France where warfarin is less frequently prescribed. Therefore, in order to describe clinical and follow up characteristics of patients receiving oral anticoagulants, the investigators will set up a national prospective cohort to compare the occurrence of thromboembolic events between VKA and NOAC in primary care.

Bioimpedance Variation of Free Flap for After Clamping

Thrombosis

MONITRANS project consist of developing a monitoring technology of post-operative breast reconstruction by detecting thrombosis. Its aim is to reducing time spent in hospital by monitoring patients at home. Thrombosis following to abdominal free flap harvesting for breast reconstruction is a rare phenomenon (with a 2 until 15 % frequency). Moreover, it leads to ischemia by limiting water intake in the plasma compartments. The investigator would like to prove, by this research project, that they are able to detect ischemia via bioimpedance technology. During abdominal free flap harvesting for breast reconstruction, there are few minutes where the flap is clamped because of anastomosis on the recipient vessels. The investigators would seize the opportunity of this step, which is similar to vascular thrombosis, to measure bioimpedance variations. Therefore they would like to measure variations of the flap bioimpedance before and after vascular section. Another purpose consists of developing an algorithm which will detect postoperative thrombosis.

Early Post-Marketing Study of ELIQUIS (Apixaban) in Mexico

Deep Vein ThrombosisPulmonary Embolism

The primary objective of the study is to report adverse events of on-treatment AEs by the treating physicians during a specified 24-month study period in patients with venous thromboembolism at the sentinel site(s) for the National Center of Pharmacovigilance (CNFV) in Mexico.

Norwegian Intensive Care Unit Dalteparin Effect Study

Acute Kidney InjuryDeep Venous Thrombosis

The main purpose of the NORIDES study is to investigate the effect of pharmacological thromboprophylaxis with low molecular weight heparins (LMWHs) in critically ill patients, and how it is affected by presence of acute kidney injury (AKI) and treatment with hemodialysis. The main objective is to compare the prophylactic effect of dalteparin in intensive care unit (ICU) patients with AKI and Citrate-Calcium dialysis (CiCa-dialysis) with a control group of ICU patients with normal kidney function. Our main hypothesis is that CiCa-dialysis reduces dalteparin effect, and that patients undergoing CiCa-dialysis do not achieve adequate prophylaxis against venous thromboembolism (VTE). The primary endpoint is development of DVT during ICU stay, the secondary endpoint inadequate heparin effect measured in blood samples.

Plasma Vitamin and Homocysteine Levels and Thrombosis in Patients With Ph-negative MPNs

Thrombosis

Hyperhomocysteinemia is a risk for thrombosis. Thrombosis is more frequent in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) than the normal population. In this study, we investigated the thrombosis incidence, the effects of plasma homocysteine levels on thrombosis, and the correlations between folate, cobalamin, pyridoxine and homocysteine levels in MPNs, and to compare these results with the healthy controls.

An Observational Post-Authorization Safety Specialist Cohort Event Monitoring Study (SCEM) to Monitor...

Atrial FibrillationDeep Vein Thrombosis1 more

This study aims to evaluate the use of rivaroxaban and its short term safety when used by patients for the new indications of prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) and prevention of recurrent DVT and PE. Any adult patient started by their care team on rivaroxaban or an alternative anticoagulant for the specified indications during the study period will be eligible to take part. A questionnaire will be completed by the care team of each patient at the start of treatment and again 12 weeks later. The care team will complete the questionnaires using information from the patient's medical notes, not by asking the patient directly. If a participant has an adverse event during the 12 week period, we may ask the patient's care team to fill out a further follow up questionnaire. No other examinations or tests will be performed. Patients will only be recruited to the study after the clinical decision to prescribe rivaroxaban or an alternative anticoagulant has been made, so that prescribing behaviour is not altered by the study. It is an observational, non-interventional study covering the whole of England and Wales.
