Patients at Risk for Thrombosis

Randomized comparison of warfarin dosing quality between the Hamilton nomogram and a commercial computer system. Hypothesis: Mean TTR of patients managed with the commercial computer system is non-inferior to management with the validated Hamilton Nomogram.

Evaluation of the Duration of Therapy for Thrombosis in Children

Venous Thrombosis

The Kids-DOTT trial is a randomized controlled clinical trial whose primary objective is to evaluate non-inferiority of shortened-duration (6 weeks) versus conventional-duration (3 months) anticoagulation in children with first-episode acute venous thrombosis. The first stage of the trial has consisted of a pilot/feasibility component, which then continues as the definitively-powered trial.

CASTLE (Clopidogrel And Serum Troponin Level Elevation)

Thrombosis

Primary Objective: To test if 600 mg of clopidogrel loading dose administered ≥ 6 and ≤ 24 hours prior to PCI produce a greater decrease of periprocedural release of biochemical markers (CK, CK-MB, and troponin-T and/or I) of myocardial necrosis, compared to 300 mg loading dose, given ≥ 6 and ≤ 24 hours prior to PCI or 600 mg loading dose of clopidogrel, administered immediately (≤ 45 minutes) before PCI.

Randomized Controlled Trial of Anticoagulation vs. Placebo for a First Symptomatic Isolated Distal...

Distal (Calf) Deep-vein Thrombosis

CACTUS-PTS is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study which aims primarily to determine the effectiveness of a 6 week course of therapeutic-dose LMWH (nadroparine) injections vs. placebo in patients with a first symptomatic isolated distal (calf) deep-vein thrombosis (IDDVT), as measured by rate of proximal DVT and symptomatic PE at 6 weeks. Additionally, the study aims to determine if the 6 week course of treatment with therapeutic-dose LMWH (nadroparine) injections, compared to placebo, decreases the frequency of post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) at 1 year.

Fondaparinux as Monotherapy for DVT and/or Pulmonary Embolism

Deep Vein ThrombosisPulmonary Embolism

To determine whether fondaparinux as monotherapy without warfarin is effective and safe for long-term (90 days) treatment of DVT and/or PE, thus gaining new long-term experience and data using fondaparinux.

Different Doses and Duration of Low Molecular Weight Heparin (Parnaparin)in Superficial Vein Thrombosis...

Thrombophlebitis

The optimal treatment of superficial venous thrombosis (SVT) is still uncertain. Though low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is considered the treatment of choice, studies conducted so far do not give clear indications of the optimal dose and duration of treatment. This study aims to evaluate whether an intermediate therapeutic dose of LMWH (parnaparin) is more effective than a prophylactic dose and also to assess whether 10 rather than 30 days are sufficient for treatment.

The Effect of Enoxaparin Sodium on the Incidence of Deep Vein Thrombosis Following Electrophysiology...

Deep Vein Thrombosis

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of the anticoagulant(blood thinner) Clexane on the development of leg clots following electrophysiology studies (EPS) and or radiofrequency ablation (RFA). People who suffer heart palpitations will sometimes need hospital admission to undergo an electrophysiology study ( and or a Radiofrequency Ablation)in order to diagnose and or treat their condition. Radiofrequency ablation is a procedure to stop abnormal heart rhythms. EPS/RFA studies require the puncture of the leg veins . Previous experience has shown that following the puncture of leg veins there is a small risk of developing a blood clot in the leg. It is not known whether giving blood thinners (anticoagulants) after the procedure will decrease this risk Enoxaparin Sodium (Clexane) is an anticoagulant used extensively and safely following bone (Orthopaedic) surgery to prevent blood clots from developing in the legs

Bioequipotency Study of Idrabiotaparinux and Idraparinux in Patients With Deep Venous Thrombosis...

Deep Venous Thrombosis

The three purposes of this study are the following: To compare during a 6-month treatment the safety and effectiveness of idrabiotaparinux (SSR126517) with that of idraparinux (SR34006), taking into account new events of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), and bleeding risk; To compare the activities of idrabiotaparinux and idraparinux directly in blood during and after a 6-month treatment; To check the ability of avidin (SSR29261) to reverse the blood thinning activity of idrabiotaparinux at the end of a 6-month treatment period.

AnemiaVenous Thrombosis

This study is designed to investigate the incidence of deep vein thrombosis in patients receiving a perisurgical regimen of epoetin alfa (PROCRIT®) as compared to patients receiving standard of care blood conservation management.
