Selenium Supplementation in Pregnancy
PregnancyInfertility1 moreSerum levels of isolated anti-thyroperoxidase (TPOab) and anti-thyreoglobulin (Tgab) autoantibodies are strongly associated with an increased risk of miscarriage and premature deliveries in euthyroid pregnant women. Replacement of thyroxine (LT4) or other supplementations in euthyroid-Ab positivity during pregnancy has not been established. The development of a safe and effective intervention that modulates inappropriate inflammatory responses could be a very important component of prevention against adverse health outcomes during pregnancy. The anti-oxidant Selenium (Se) suppresses autoimmune destruction of thyrocytes and at daily dose of 200 mcg and 100 mcg decreases titers of serum TPOAb and TgAb also in Se-non-deficient patients with autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT). The use of Se in AIT has been shown to reduce the incidence of postpartum thyroiditis and hypothyroidism. Women with recurrent pregnancy loss had lower Se levels and Se deficiency has been implicated in the pathogenesis of AIT and in the impairment of T/B cell-mediated immunity. The purpose of the present study is performed to establish the effect of Se supplementation in euthyroid women with AIT (pregnant and in whom embryo transfer is expected within 60 days) on Ab trend, thyroid function and structure, implantation rates, pregnancy rates, pregnancy outcome and number of obstetrical, fetal and neonatal complications.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing on Autoimmune Thyroiditis in Adults
HashimotoThe purpose of this study is to evaluate whether Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is effective in decreasing the level of autoantibodies of patients with autoimmune thyroiditis. The investigators hypothesize that processing traumatic memories from events that happened before the illness onset will have a positive impact first on the psyche (a) by decreasing the level of dissociation, alexithymia, anger, and (b) by increasing the quality of life and emotional regulation, than those in the control group. Secondly, it will have an impact on the biological level, by decreasing the level of autoantibodies, antithyroglobulin antibody (anti-Tg) and anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (anti-TPO), which are the main antibodies detected in chronic autoimmune thyroiditis.
Identity Oriented Psychotrauma Therapy on Hashimoto in Adults
Autoimmune ThyroiditisThe purpose of this study is to evaluate whether Identity Oriented Psychotrauma Therapy (IOPT) is effective in decreasing the level of autoantibodies of patients with Hashimoto thyroiditis. The investigators hypothesize that working Constellations of Intention will have a positive impact on the biological level, by decreasing the level of autoantibodies, antithyroglobulin antibody (anti-Tg) and anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (anti-TPO), which are the main antibodies detected in chronic autoimmune thyroiditis. Secondly, it will have an impact on the psyche by decreasing the level of dissociation, alexithymia, anger, and by increasing the quality of life and than those in the control group.
Effect of Semet (80 and 160 mcg) Versus Placebo in Euthyroid Patients With AIT
Thyroiditis AutoimmuneOver the past 10 years, several clinical studies have suggested that selenium supplementation may influence the natural history of AIT. Recently, Interferon gamma (IFNγ)-inducible chemokines (CXCL-9, -10 and -11) were shown to be elevated in the AIT patients. The aim of this prospective, randomized, controlled study is to evaluate the effect of two different doses of selenomethionine (80 or 160 mcg) versus placebo in euthyroid women with AIT, in terms of reduction of anti-thyroid antibodies and improvement of thyroid hypoechogenicity, over 24 months. Serum levels of selenium, CXCL-9, -10 and -11 and their regulators, Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and INFγ, thyroid function and volume and the quality of life of AIT patients are also evaluated.
Selenium Supplementation in Autoimmune Thyroiditis
Autoimmune ThyroiditisOur aim is to investigate if selenium supplementation versus placebo adjuvant to the standard treatment with levothyroxine (LT4) in patients with autoimmune thyroiditis will lead to improved thyroid specific quality of life, and reduced autoimmune activity. The trial will include 472 participants (2 X 236) from four clinical trial sites.

Anti-insulin-like Growth Factor-1 Receptor (IGF-1R) Antibodies in Graves' Disease and Graves' Orbitopathy...
Graves OphthalmopathyGraves Disease1 moreThe study is aimed at assessing IGF-1R-Abs in patients with Graves' disease, with or without GO, compared with healthy subjects and patients with autoimmune thyroiditis in a cross-sectional investigation.
Oxidative Status in Children With Autoimmune Thyroiditis
Autoimmune ThyroiditisOxidative status in autoimmune thyroiditis was not investigated previously in children and adolescents. We investigated oxidant and antioxidant systems in a cohort of Egyptian children and adolescents with AIT to explore their relation with biomarkers of autoimmunity and thyroid function.
Thyroid Hormone Values and Anti-thyroid Peroxidase Antibody Positivity in Recurrent Pregnancy Loss...
Autoimmune ThyroiditisRecurrent MiscarriageThe aim of this study is to compare the thyroid hormone values and anti-thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO) levels of women with a diagnosis of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) and healthy pregnancies. The primary objective is to find out the relationship between recurrent pregnancy loss with thyroid hormone levels and anti-TPO positivity.
