Tobacco UseTobacco DependenceThis study is to understand how the presentation of information on social media influences processing and recall of information, particularly in relation to modified risk tobacco products. Participants will see a social media site where either (a) the topic of discussion varies between each post or (b) posts on the same topic are grouped together. They will then be asked to recall information about the posts they saw on the site.

ObesityDiabetes2 moreThe purpose of this proposal is to compare the effectiveness of community health worker (CHW) support vs. usual primary care for helping chronically-ill, low-SES patients to improve control of chronic conditions. Upon enrollment each patient will select one of their multiple chronic conditions as a focus for the trial and work with his/her PCP to set a chronic disease management goal. Patients are then randomized to receive usual primary care vs. CHW support for moving towards that goal.

Varenicline, also known as Chantix™, is an U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved medication that has been shown to help people quit smoking. This study was trying to evaluate whether varenicline would change the response to smoking and the desire for cigarettes when compared to an inactive placebo control. This was not a quit smoking treatment study, and participants were not asked or required to stop smoking while in this study.
