Evaluation of Virtual Reality to Save Morphinic in the Treatment of Vaso-occlusive Seizures of Sickle...
Vaso-occlusive CrisisSickle Cell DiseaseThe management of pain in the emergency department is a major issue, especially for sickle cell patients who regularly consult for vaso-occlusive seizure (VOS). The place of virtual reality remains to be defined in a busy environment, in which the permanence of care generates a significant turn over of medical and paramedical personnel. With Its immersive nature, allowing the patient to detach from his immediate environment, wich is often stressful for patients, we can hope that in multimodal management, Virtual Reality (VR) can contribute to a faster reduction in pain with lower doses of morphine, but so far we have no data. Our pilot study aims to assess the effectiveness, feasibility and tolerance of adding virtual reality to the management of VOS in sickle cell patients in the ER.
Validating a Self-fitting Hearing Aid
Hearing and Vision LossEargo, Inc. has developed a hearing aid that contains self-fitting gain software that allows adults with mild-to-moderate hearing loss to test their hearing sensitivity and program hearing aids to match their measured hearing loss. Traditionally, hearing aids are custom programmed by a hearing health professional based on a professional hearing test. This technology has the potential to improve affordability and accessibility of hearing aids for adults with mild-to-moderate hearing loss. We propose to validate Eargo's self-fitting software in a clinical trial comparing self-fitting hearing aid outcomes to the same hearing aid fit by a professional following usual clinical best practice for fitting hearing aids.
A Simulation-based Intervention for Caregivers of Children With Seizures
Dependency on Medications Prescribed for PatientTypes of Seizures and Epileptic SyndromesCaregivers of children with seizures receiving simulation based seizure management teaching in addition to the traditional seizure teaching will report more confidence with seizure management and demonstrate a higher level of performance with seizure management.
Levetiracetam or Pregabalin in Treating Seizures in Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy and/or Radiation...
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsSeizureRATIONALE: Levetiracetam and pregabalin are drugs that treat seizures. It is not yet known which drug is more effective in treating seizures caused by primary brain tumors. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well levetiracetam or pregabalin work in treating seizures in patients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy for primary brain tumors.
Neurology Inpatient Clinical Education Trial
Myasthenia GravisGuillain-Barre Syndrome9 moreThe objective of this study is to compare the effectiveness of a personalized patient education program to the current hospital education and evaluate its impact using patient satisfaction scores. The investigators hypothesize that a personalized patient education intervention will increase patient's understanding of their diagnosis and satisfaction with the care as reflected in the survey results.
Tuned App Self-Fitting vs. Professional Fitting
Hearing LossThe aim of the study is to compare the perceived outcome of the self-fitting performed by the participants using the Tuned mobile application with the traditional professional fitting as performed by a licensed professional audiologist in subjects with mild to moderate sensorineural hearing loss.
The Effect of Music Therapy on Pain and Anxiety
PainAnxiety1 moreThis study will be conducted to determine the effect of music therapy on pain and anxiety following coronary angiography in patients in intensive care. 60 patients who underwent coronary angiography will be randomized and divided into experimental (n = 30) and control (n = 30) groups. "Personal Data Form", "Pain Visual Analog Scale (Pain-VAS)", "Anxiety Visual Analog Scale (Anxiety-VAS)" and "Richmond Agitation and Sedation Scale (RASS)" were used to collect data. While participants in the experimental group will be given a problem-solving training program, no intervention will be made to the control group. The data in the control and experimental groups will be distributed homogeneously.
Effect of CYP2C9/CYP2C19 Polymorphism on Pharmacokinetics of Phenobarbital in Korean Neonatal Seizure...
Neonatal SeizureThe pharmacogenomic profiles of drug metabolizing enzymes play an important role in pharmacokinetics (PK) of drugs. Phenobarbital (PB), worldwidely used for neonatal seizure, is a drug that requires careful dose adjustments based on therapeutic drug monitoring. It was reported that phenobarbital (PB) metabolism was affected by CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 polymorphisms in adults. This study aims to evaluate the effects of the CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 genetic polymorphisms on PB PK in infants with neonatal seizure for an optimal dosing strategy.
Pharmacokinetics and Tolerability of Rufinamide in Healthy Chinese Subjects
SeizuresThe purpose of this study was to determine the pharmacokinetic (PK) and safety profile of single and multiple doses of rufinamide. The effects of food and sex on the PK properties of rufinamide in these Chinese volunteers were also evaluated.
