Class II Division 1 MalocclusionThis study aimed to evaluate the levels of pain, discomfort, and functional impairment associated with traditional corticotomy and flapless corticotomy in the retraction of upper anterior teeth. 40 patients requiring extraction of maxillary first premolars and maximum anchorage to retract the upper anterior teeth will participate in the study. They will be divided randomly into two groups: flapless corticotomy (20 patients) and traditional corticotomy (20 patients).
The Use of an Esthetic Twin Block for Patients With Mandibular Retrusion
Class II MalocclusionThis experimental study will evaluate the effect of an esthetic Twin-block appliance on the correction of class II malocclusion compared with the traditional Twin-block appliance. The study sample will consist of 50 patients with class II malocclusion. The sample will be allocated randomly into two groups: the control group and the experimental group. The traditional Twin-block appliance will be applied for the control group patients, while the esthetic Twin-block appliance will be applied for the experimental group patients. The dentoskeletal, soft tissue changes and esthetic and functional efficacy occurring after functional treatment will be assessed using cephalometric radiographs and profile photographs, pre and post-treatment, and a questionnaire. Changes for each group will be evaluated individually, and the two groups will be compared.

Acceleration of Lower Anterior Teeth Leveling and Alignment Using Corticision
CrowdingToothThis experimental study will evaluate the effect of corticision on accelerating the leveling and alignment of lower crowded incisors compared with the control untreated group using cone beam computed tomography. The study sample will consist of 26 patients with less than 6 mm crowding. The sample will be allocated randomly into two experimental groups. The brackets and passive SS wire will be applied with radiographic metal guides between each tooth to allow for accurate corticision site 2 mm below the gingival papilla and to prevent tooth roots injury. The dentoalveolar changes occurring after leveling and alignment of lower anterior teeth will be evaluated using CBCT radiographs, Frequency, degree of root resorption, and the incidence of bone dehiscence will be assessed in relation to initial situation.

MalocclusionINTRODUCTION: Dentoalveolar surgeries such as piezocision, have been developed with the aim to accelerate the tooth movement and therefore reduce the length of orthodontic treatment. Although this surgical technique seems to present several advantages, such as decreased risk of decalcification or orthodontic relapse, its use as a routine practice is not yet recommended. The main purpose of this study is to determine the duration of orthodontic treatment by using the piezocision. The secondary objectives are to evaluate the effect of this surgical technique on bone density, root resorption, osteoclast activity, inflammatory events and pain assessment. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The investigators will conduct a prospective study. The experimental group will consist of 14 adults, subjects from 18 to 40 years-old (10 women, 4 men). The control group will consist of 30 matched patients, who have been already treated in the orthodontic clinic of the University of Montreal. The reliabilities of Intra and Inter assesors will be measured for each doctor. After completion of the surgical guides from CBCT, the Piezocision will be performed the same day of the bracket indirect placement. The surgical procedure will be standardized and did it by the same surgeon. The appointments will be every 2 weeks for 4 months, then every month. The investigators will make an assessment of pain by using a numerical visual scale, during the first 7 days after surgery. Analysis of inflammatory markers (IL-1) and osteoclast activity (RANKL, OPG) will be evaluated from the gingival sulcus fluid collected at day 0, 1, 3, 5, 8, 12, 16 and 24 weeks. At the end of the treatment, the overall quality evaluation of treatment using the "American Board of Orthodontics' grading system" would be realized by two blind external observers to limit bias.

Assessment of the Efficacy of the Aerodentis System
Orthodontic TreatmentTooth Crowding1 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the Aerodentis System for orthodontic tooth movement in an open label, two-arms, non-inferiority clinical study. This open-label, two-arm study will follow 45 patients for up to fifteen months. Thirty participants will wear the Aerodentis device, and fifteen participants will wear Invisalign, a commonly used clear appliance. Patients will be assigned to participate in the treatment group using the Aerodentis device at home for 10 hours daily or in the control group using clear correctors for the duration of up to 15 months. Outcome assessments will be performed every 4 weeks. Assessments will include tooth movement and quality of life assessments.
