Clinical Study to Investigate the Tooth Stain Removal Efficacy of Two Experimental Toothpastes Compared...

Oral Hygiene

The aim of this study is to investigate the stain removal efficacy of 2 experimental anti-dentin hypersensitivity (DH) dentifrices with four and eight weeks twice daily use. A daily use, regular fluoride dentifrice will be included as a reference dentifrice.

3-year Clinical Performance of Prefabricated and Composite Veneers

Dental DiseasesTooth Discoloration

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical performances of Edelweiss prefabricated veneers and direct resin composite restorations (Ceram-X Duo SphereTec) performed with U- veneer transparent templates used for anterior diastema closure and tooth reshaping over 3-year. The patient group consisted of individuals who applied for aesthetic complaints on their anterior teeth. 21 volunteer individuals without systemic disease were included in the study. Patients were randomly selected for each group. In Group 1; 38 teeth (10 patients) were restored with Edelweiss prefabricated veneers (Edelweiss Dentistry) in combination with Edelweiss nanohybrid resin composite (Edelweiss Dentistry) and Prime&Bond Universal (Dentsply Sirona) adhesive system. In Group 2; 36 teeth (11 patients) were restored with Ceram-X Duo SphereTec (Dentsply Sirona) resin composite in combination with U- veneer (Ultradent) transparent templates and Prime&Bond Universal adhesive systems. Properties of the restorations were evaluated at baseline, 6, 12, 24, and 36 months using Modified Ryge Criteria (USPHS Criteria). Data were evaluated using Chi-Square and Fisher's Exact tests (p=0.05).

Survival of Hybrid Laminate Veneers Using Two Different Tooth Preparation Techniques:Randomized...

DiscolorationTooth2 more

The aim of this study was to evaluate the survival of laminate veneers constructed using a recent polymer-infiltrated ceramic network material following the aesthetic pre-evaluative temporary (APT) technique of tooth preparation in comparison to traditional technique.

6-year Clinical Performance of Prefabricated and Composite Veneers ( Componeer)

Dental DiseasesTooth Discoloration

The aim of this study is to compare the clinical performance of composite veneers performed in two different ways, indirect and direct methods over a period of 6-year. 30 volunteer patients without systemic diseases and who applied to Ege University School of Dentistry for the esthetic restoration of their anterior diastema (gap) were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The closure of 102 diastema was randomly performed with prefabricated composite resin veneers (n=15; indirect method- Componeer, Coltène, Altstätten, Switzerland) or direct composite resin veneers (n=15; direct method- Essentia, GC, Japan). These restorations were clinically evaluated at baseline, 1-2-6-year by two experienced and blind examiners according to modified Ryge criteria (USPHS criteria). Color match, marginal discoloration, anatomic form, marginal adaptation, secondary caries, surface roughness, retention, and polishing retention were evaluated for that purpose. Statistical analysis was performed with McNemar and Chi-square tests (p<0.05).

Photodynamic Remediation of Black Stain

Dental DepositsTooth Discoloration1 more

This study investigates the remediation of black-stained tooth surfaces using antimicrobial photodynamic therapy. In this crossover trial, a cohort of patients received standard dental prophylactic cleaning to remove the black stain. Later, following the washout period, (reappearance of the black stain) received photodynamic therapy in addition to the standard cleaning. Stain-free period in each of the arms was the main outcome variable. Additional microbial plaque testing was also carried out.

Marginal Fit of Porcelain Veneers After Finishing Prepared Surfaces With Ultrasonic Tips

Tooth Discoloration

The aim of the study is to assess the marginal fit following preparation finishing with ultrasonic tips of porcelain veneers compared to the ordinary preparation using burs only. Two-hundred and forty crowns prepared to receive porcelain veneers (in a split-mouth design). On one side of the mouth, the prepared surfaces will be finished with ultrasonic tips. Marginal fit is measured by a 'cement replica technique'.

An Efficacy Study of Stain Control of a 67% Sodium Bicarbonate Containing Toothpaste on Chlorhexidine...

Oral Hygiene

The aim of this study is to compare the stain effect on teeth of twice daily brushing with a 67% sodium bicarbonate containing toothpaste versus standard toothpaste (not containing sodium bicarbonate) for six weeks whilst using a chlorhexidine digluconate 0.2% mouthwash.

Effect on Periodontal Markers by Bleaching Intracoronal Technique

Discolored Teeth

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this clinical randomized, double-blind clinical study was to assess the markers levels of RANKL IL-1B and OPGL, involved in the external cervical resorption as a primary outcome, and change color effectiveness in patients undergoing intracoronary bleaching. METHOD: 46 volunteers (50 teeth) participated with discoloration on non-vital teeth, with the endodontic treatment in good condition. Patients were randomly located into two study groups according to product G1 = 35% hydrogen peroxide (n = 25) and G2 = 37% carbamide peroxide (n = 25). The intracameral bleaching was performed with a walking bleaching technique of 4 sessions Gingivocrevicular transudate samples were taken to determine levels of Il1b, RANKL, and OPGL with absorbent paper (Periopaper®), they are obtained from six sites per tooth bleaching: 3 vestibular and three palatine (mesial, middle and distal), in 6 opportunities: Baseline, after 4-sessions of intracameral bleaching and a one week after treatment. Total proteins are quantified by Bradford ® system and from the eluted sample of RANKL, IL 1b and OPGL levels measured by ELISA (Quantikine®; R&D Systems Inc.). The color was evaluated in each session with Vita EasyShade spectrophotometer is used with the CIEL*a*b system to measure the total variation in color (ΔE), between the baseline and the different evaluation times.

Staining and Calculus Formation After 0.12% Chlorhexidine Rinses

Dental CalculusTooth Discoloration

The presence of plaque on tooth surfaces as a predictor of chlorhexidine side effects has not been evaluated especially because most studies utilized a previous disruption of biofilms in all dental surfaces before the beginning of rinsing. The purpose of this study is to compare staining and calculus formation after 0.12 percent chlorhexidine between previously plaque-free and plaque-covered surfaces by means of an experimental gingivitis model.
