Anti-inflammatory Steroids in the Prevention of Tooth Sensitivity
InflammationClinical randomized, triple-blind, used to measure the level of tooth sensitivity on volunteers using a modified virtual analog scale (VAS). Sixty-six volunteers will be selected and recruited, following inclusion criteria and pre-established exclusion. All volunteers will be guided and sign a term of clarification and consent. Volunteers will be randomly divided into two groups: the control group to receive placebo capsules and application of desensitizing gel containing 6% potassium nitrate and 0.10% fluoro- (conventional treatment) and the experimental group will receive the anti-inflammatory corticosteroids (dexamethasone, capsule - 8mg) and application of a placebo gel. Patients will be treated in two clinical sessions with an interval of 7 days (one week) between them. The protocol for use of the product is as follows: The volunteers in the experimental group will receive six capsules of dexamethasone 8 mg each to be administered orally, initially two days before the first bleaching query as follows: 8 mg (1 capsule) 9 am in the morning two days before the first clinical session whitening; 8 mg (1 capsule) the 9 am to 1 day before the first practice session whitening, 8 mg (1 capsule) to 9 am on the day of the first practice session of whitening. After 7 days (one week), the same protocol will be held for the second and final practice session office bleaching.
8% L-Arginine/Calcium Carbonate Toothpaste in Comparison to Strontium Acetate Toothpaste for Hypersensitive...
Dentin HypersensitivityDentinal hypersensitivity [DH] is a common condition in daily practice, especially in patients who have abrasion, attrition, gingival recession and erosion of teeth. It can affect individuals in the age range of 20-50 years. In a recent systematic review, it was reported that no gold standard treatment modality for dentin hypersensitivity has been established Thus there is a need to evaluate new formulations in different settings and in different populations and to compare those to commonly used agents seeking better results in pain relief for our patients. Studies showed that dentifrice formulations containing 8% arginine in combination with calcium carbonate and fluoride have the ability to plug dentinal tubules, by clumping of both arginine and calcium carbonate that bind with the negatively charged dentin . Aim of the study is to clinically evaluate toothpaste containing 8% arginine, calcium carbonate, and sodium mono-fluorophosphate, in comparison to toothpaste, containing 8% strontium acetate and NaF on the relief of DH in chronic periodontitis patients.
Comparison in Marginal Adaptation Between Conventional and Gull Wing Preparation in Laminates Veneers...
Teeth SensitivityThe aim of this study is to evaluate tooth sensitivity and marginal adaptation of porcelain laminates veneers prepared with modified gull wing preparation and conventional preparation.
Efficacy of Miswak Extract Toothpaste as Compared Potassium Nitrate in The Management of Dentinal...
Dentine HypersensitivityThe study will be a single-center, longitudinal, triple-masked (for participants, operators, and statistician), equal ratio, randomized non-crossover design. The study designed following the criteria described by Holland et al 1997. The current experiments will follow CONSORT guidelines and will be registered at the US National Institutes of Health (ClinicalTrials.gov). The sensitivity scores will be measured at three intervals: at baseline, at 2 weeks, and at 6 weeks. The duration of the current study estimated to be 6 weeks and will be conducted between January 2020 and March 2020. The study protocol will be submitted initially to the Ethical Committee of the Aseer Central Hospital, Aseer region, Saudi Arabia. After getting the approval and facilitation letters, the participants will be selected randomly from patients attending periodontal clinics at Aseer Dental Center, Aseer region.
Meta-analysis of Stannous Fluoride Dentifrice and the Effects on Dentine Hypersensitivity
Dentine HypersensitivityThe aim of this 11 study analysis was to compare the effect of bioavailable stannous fluoride (SnF2) on dentine hypersensitivity versus a positive or negative control dentifrice.
A Pilot Study to Substantiate the Use of the Jay Sensitivity Sensor Probe
Dentine SensitivitySubjects with at least two teeth with dentinal hypersensitivity and who meet the study criteria will be enrolled onto this double blind, randomised, parallel, controlled clinical trial. After enrolment, suitable subjects will use a fluoride toothpaste for 4 weeks (wash out period). Baseline dentine hypersensitivity assessments will be conducted using tactile stimuli, air blast, and VAS methods. Tactile methods of assessment will include use of the Yeaple Probe and the Jay Sensitivity Sensor probe. Air blast assessments will be conducted using the Schiff cold air sensitivity scale. The Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) questionnaire will be completed at four defined time points during the study. The baseline assessments will be conducted on the two teeth identified during the screening visit. On completion of the baseline assessments, subjects will be randomly assigned to product. Dentinal hypersensitivity assessments will be repeated after 18, 28 and 56 days of product use.
Tooth Mousse and Fluoride in Dentin Hypersensitivity Treatment
Dentin HypersensitivityGC Tooth Mousse, a complex containing amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) and casein phosphopeptide (CPP), is recommended in dentin hypersensitivity reduction due to its ability to block opened dentinal tubules. It acts synergistically with fluorine in slowing caries progression. Whether CPP-ACP can act synergistically with fluorine in the dentin hypersensitivity treatment is unknown. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of CPP-ACP combined with fluoride varnish in cervical dentin hypersensitivity treatment.
Dentine Tubule Occlusion Assessment in a Modified in Situ Model
Dentin SensitivityThis will be a single centre, single blind, randomized, three treatment, three period crossover design, modified, in situ, study in healthy participants. In this in situ model the tubule occlusion properties of dentifrices will be evaluated by comparing an experimental dentifrice formulation to a regular fluoride dentifrice and a negative control (mineral water) over a ten day period.
Psychophysical Characterization and Brain Correlates of Dentine Hypersensitivity
Dentine HypersensitivityUp to date, devices capable of delivering controlled, calibrated, non-contact cold air stimuli in a MR environment are unavailable for quantitative sensory testing. This project therefore aimed at designing and constructing a novel MR-compatible, computer-controlled cold air stimulation device that produces air puffs in a broad flow and cold temperature range. By means of this device, detailed psychophysically testing and subsequent brain scanning of dentine hypersensitivity (DH) subjects will be possible to gain new insights about DH mechanisms.
In-office Bleaching With a 2-day Interval Between Sessions: Tooth Sensitivity
Dentin SensitivityThe calcium containing 35% hydrogen peroxide gel employed in this study can be re-applied 2 days after the first bleaching session without increasing the bleaching-induced tooth sensitivity
