Comparison of Dental Pain Response in Children
Dental AnxietyStudy involves the observation of the child's behavior during a dental treatment procedure. This allows for the evaluation of the child's experience of pain and discomfort through their facial expressions, body movements, and vocalizations during the procedure.
Impact of Dental Pain on the Quality of Life
Dental PainDental CariesThe aim of the present study was to evaluate the perceived impact of dental caries and dental pain on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) among preschool children and their families. A cross-sectional study was conduct with 843 preschool children in Campina Grande, Brazil. Parents/caregivers answered a questionnaire on socio-demographic information, their child's general/oral health and history of dental pain. The Brazilian version of the Early Childhood Oral Health Impact Scale was administered to determine the perceived impact of caries and dental pain on OHRQoL. Children have undergone an oral examination. Logistic regression for complex sample was used to determine associations between the dependent and independent variables (OR: odds ratio; α = 5%).
Endodontic Medications for Irreversible Pulpitis: Articaine or Eugenol?
PulpitidesEndodontic Inflammation2 moreThe objective of the study is to determine which of the two commonly used endodontic medications (Eugenol VS Articaine) is most effective in controlling postoperative pain in irreversible pulpitis of the mature permanent tooth in adults. To do so, an assessment of the pain felt by patients will be carried out a few days apart. The supposed results are that the medications are equivalent in terms of effectiveness on the pain, but could then present different economic arguments
Cohort Comparison of Dental Nerve Block With Other Forms of Analgesia in Alleviating the Pain of...
Tooth PainToothache is a common source of pain for Emergency Department patients. There are several common ways to control the pain of toothache. But we do not know if any one of them is more effective than another. It is also possible that how we take care of your pain in the Emergency Department will influence the level of pain you experience one or two days from now. This study seeks to answer these questions.
DPBRN Peri-operative Pain and Root Canal Therapy
Post-operative Tooth PainRoot Canal TherapyThe purpose of this study is to identify pre-operative factors that put patients at greater risk of developing severe tooth pain following root canal therapy, thereby providing evidence that will allow dentists to act preventively to lessen this risk, improve pain control, increase their patients' quality of life, and decrease the number of dental emergency interactions. A parallel goal of this study is to assess the feasibility of recruiting dentists that provide root canal therapy and patients using the DPBRN.
Multimodal Assessment of Sensory Processing and Brain Features in Patients With Chronic Orofacial...
ToothacheTemporomandibular Joint DisordersThis proposal will investigate pain modulatory mechanisms and brain functional and structural characteristics using multiple MRI modalities in persistent dentoalveolar pain disorder (PDAP) patients with and without temporomandibular disorders (TMD). All measures from patients will be compared to painfree controls.
Oral Quality of Life
OdontalgiaThe restorative and surgical odontological department at the Nantes University Hospital frequently hosts patients with a severely degraded oral condition who has never benefited from a removable prosthetic rehabilitation. The chosen treatment plan consists most of the time in extracting all the residual teeth at one or both arches with the immediate insertion of a complete removable prosthesis performed prior to the extractions. This prosthesis is adapted by regular relining during the osteomucosal healing and is replaced by a usage removable prosthesis on average 6 months after the extractions. The transition from dentate state (even dilapidated) to toothless state can be a source of discomfort and impairment and lead to a decrease of life's quality for patients. The purpose of this study is to evaluate oral health of the patients at the different stages of prosthetic rehabilitation by using GOHAI (Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index).
DPBRN Persistent Pain and Root Canal Therapy
Root Canal TherapyPersistent Tooth PainThe purpose of this study is to document by survey the occurence of tooth pain present 3 months and 6 months after root canal therapy in the patients recruited for the DPBRN "Peri-operative tooth pain" study. This study will access the feasibility of obtaining 3 month and 6 month follow-up data on the patient enrolled in the DPBRN "Peri-operative tooth pain" study.
Diagnostic Markers of Neuropathic Odontalgia
Oral MucosaThe DIAMOND study aims to investigate the presence and diagnostic relevance of potential biomarkers of the blood-nerve barrier disruption as surrogate markers of painful post-traumatic trigeminal neuropathic pain in patients presenting with neuropathic odontalgia. The first part of the study explores the proof-of-concept and technical feasibility of intra-epithelial nerve fiber immunostaining in gingival/oral mucosa biopsies and the potential presence of these biomarkers in healthy patients (baseline condition).
