Multiomic Analysis of Traumatic Brain Injury and Hypertension Intracranial Hemorrhage Lesion Tissue...

Brain Injury Traumatic SevereIntracranial Hemorrhage1 more

The goal of this experimental observation study is to figure out differently expressed biomarkers in lesion tissues in traumatic brain injury or hypertension intracranial hemorrhage patients. The main questions it aims to answer is: Which RNA, protein and metabolites are differently expressed in lesion tissues? What molecular mechanism is participated in TBI or ICH? Participants will be treated by emergency operation, and their lesion tissues will be collected during the operation.

The PseAn Study - Study Protocol

Abdominal TraumaFollow-up in Abdominal Trauma

The researchers aim to study the role of contrast ultrasound in detecting post-traumatic splenic, hepatic, and renal PAs compared with the gold standard of CT with intravenous contrast at different follow-up time points, and whether it can replace CT scan in the follow-up of solid organ injuries

Primary Repair of Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries (OASIS) by Surgeons (PROS Study)

Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injury

Third- or fourth-degree perineal tears, collectively known as Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries or OASIS, may occur following a vaginal birth. OASIS may have catastrophic consequences, including anal incontinence. Satisfactory primary repair of OASIS is prudent in reducing the risk of maternal morbidity. Although Obstetricians are typically involved in the acute repair of OASIS, General Surgeons may be called to assist in cases of severe anatomical disruption. The investigators have constructed a survey to explore the experience and current practice of Emergency Surgeons in relation to the repair of OASIS. The investigators will gather information including their level of exposure, understanding of current guidelines and confidence in performing these repairs. This will help the investigators identify if further training is required and will enable them to put forward recommendations for future practice. The findings will be presented at conferences and meetings and published in journals.

Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta in Haemorrhagic Shock

Non-compressible Torso HemorrhageTrauma Injury

Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) is a procedure that has the goal to stabilize trauma patients with non-compressible torso hemorrhage by temporarily occluding the aorta with a ballon catheter to increase central perfusion and stop uncontrollable bleeding from the diaphragm downwards. The investigators are planning to evaluate all patients who had a REBOA catheter placed at their clinic or in the pre-clinical setting from the start of 2019 to the 31.12.2022 who were transferred to their clinic, with basic demographic and clinical data, the procedural specifics, and their potential complications.

International Registry of Acute Kidney Injury in Cirrhosis: The GLOBAL AKI Project

Liver CirrhosisAcute Kidney Injury1 more

The aims of this study will be to identify the clinical characteristics, the management and the outcomes of acute kidney injury in patients with cirrhosis worldwide. Specific aims: To establish the severity of AKI across different regions To identify precipitants of AKI across different centers To identify the phenotypes of AKI across different centers To evaluate differences in the management of AKI across different centers and their impact on clinical outcomes To assess outcomes of acute kidney injury (resolution of AKI, in-hospital mortality, 28-day mortality, 90-day mortality)

C-STAR Movement Database

StrokeParkinson Disease2 more

The purpose of this study is to develop a database that contains movement and rehabilitation-related data collected through the use of wearable sensors and video. This database will serve as a resource for clinicians and researchers interested in the investigation of movement or rehabilitation-related research ideas.

Task-oriented Arm/Hand Skill Rehabilitation and Therapy Dose Dimensions in Subacute Spinal Cord...

Spinal Cord Injuries

The study is a multicenter longitudinal observational study. The therapy content and the therapy dosage of arm/skill training for patients with cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) will be observed for the primary objective. The aim is to get insight into the current therapy content and the current therapy dosage in arm/hand skill training, with the overall aim to optimize the arm/hand skill training. For the secondary objective, in addition to the patients with cervical SCI also, patients with paraplegia as a result of SCI are included. The aim is to assess the difference between the patient's perceived dose and the therapist's estimation of the therapy dose. This will give insight into the patient's and therapist's views on therapy dose; this information will contribute to optimizing therapy dose in exercise therapy in SCI. The third aim is a pilot study to explore the usability of evening reports in SCI rehabilitation.

Evaluation of Healing Following Open Gluteus Medius Repair With Biointegrative Implant

Hip InjuriesTendon Injuries1 more

This is a prospective, single-center study design with enrollment of 15 subjects. The 15 subjects will all undergo standard gluteus medius repair that includes augmentation with the biointegrative implant. This is a small observational study. As such, we expect that the results from 15 subjects will give an adequate understanding of post surgical healing.

Trigeminal Nerve Cardiac Reflex During Resection of Cerebellopontine Angle Tumors and Postoperative...

Myocardial InjuryTrigeminal Cardiac Reflex

Myocardial injury after noncardiac surgery is significantly related to postoperative 30-day mortality. Trigeminal cardiac reflex is one of the main causes of perioperative cardiac emergency. Therefore, the investigators' aim is to test the hypothesis that trigeminal cardiac reflex associates postoperative myocardial damage in participants undergoing cerebellopontine angle tumor surgery. The investigators will observe the association between trigeminal cardiac reflex and myocardial injury by measuring the concentration of plasma high sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTnT) in participants after cerebellopontine angle tumor surgery.

Imaging of Injury Mechanism and Interaction of Intestinal Bacteria in Children With Mild Traumatic...

MTBI - Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the leading cause of disability in children and young adults. Children with moderate to severe TBI are typically at risk of poor functional outcome in terms of neurocognitive impairment and behavior problems. Neurocognitive impairments include deficits in attention and working memory, learning and memory, and executive functioning, whereas behavior problems include anxiety, depression and aggression. Neuroimaging techniques based on multi-modal magnetic resonance image (MRI) can detect the structural and functional brain abnormalities objectively and sensitively. Recent evidence indicates that even after mild TBI, children with risk factors for intracranial pathology are at risk of poor neurocognitive and behavioral outcome.Meanwhile, recently, the concept of "gut-brain axis" has been proposed and hint gut microbiota could shape the brain. Some studies have emphasized that human gut microbiota plays an important role in the pathogenesis and development of TBI. However, how the gut affects the brain in patients with TBI is unclear. Thus, combining analysis of neuroimaging and "gut-brain axis" will provide more information for finding the risk factors and imaging diagnostic markers of brain impairment in TBI. It will also helpful for explaining the underlying mechanisms of brain impairment in TBI, providing an objective basis for clinical diagnosis and prediction of the prognosis.
