Effects of TNX-832 (Sunol cH36) in Subjects With Acute Lung Injury/Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome...

SepsisAcute Lung Injury1 more

This Phase I/IIa, multi-center, randomized, placebo-controlled, single-blinded dose-escalation study evaluated TNX-832 (also referred to as ALT-836 and Sunol cH36) in subjects with suspected or proven bacteria-induced ALI/ARDS. Up to five cohorts of at least six subjects each were originally planned. Subjects were to be randomized in a 5:1 ratio to receive TNX-832 or placebo, respectively, administered as a single bolus infusion over 15 minutes. Three cohorts of subjects were enrolled to the study and safety and pharmacokinetics of the study treatment were evaluated.

GM-CSF for Immunomodulation Following Trauma (GIFT) Study

Critical Injury (Trauma) in Children

The GIFT study is a prospective, multi-center, interventional trial using the drug GM-CSF for the reversal of innate immune suppression in critically injured children. The study will be conducted in two phases, a dose-finding phase then an efficacy phase. The dose-finding phase is the current active phase of the study. The central hypothesis of the study is that immunomodulation with GM-CSF will result in reduction in the risk of nosocomial infection after critical injury in high-risk children through safe, rapid, and sustained improvement in innate immune function.

Improving Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Interventions by Retraining the Brain With Stimulation...

Spinal Cord Injury

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether combining a noninvasive method of brain stimulation, called Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS), enhances the effect of training of the affected upper limbs in patients with incomplete Spinal Cord Injury.

Effects Of High Voltage Pulsed Current On Post-Traumatic Injuries

Ankle Sprain

The investigators hypothesis is that HVPC with negative polarity diminishes local post-traumatic edema in ankle sprains. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the effect of HVPC on edema secondary to ankle sprains in humans.

Treatment of Mild to Moderate Depression Symptoms in Patients With Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal Cord Injury

This study was initially designed to test the efficacy of Venlafaxine HCl in reducing incidence of the onset of major depression after a new spinal cord injury (SCI). After several protocol modifications, the purpose of the study is to test the effectiveness of a sub-therapeutic dose of Venlafaxine HCl to reduce mild to moderate symptoms in persons with SCI.

Efficacy and Safety of Lithium Carbonate in the Treatment of Chronic Spinal Cord Injuries

Spinal Cord Injury

This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blinded trial. Forty patients will be randomized into two groups. The subjects in the Treatment Group will be administered with lithium carbonate, while the Control Group will receive placebo. Each subject will receive oral lithium carbonate or placebo for six weeks. In the treatment group, the dose will be adjusted according to the serum lithium level while in the control group there will be a sham adjustment. The outcomes will be assessed 6 weeks and 6 months after the onset of the medication. The outcomes will be compared with baseline pre-treatment data to obtain "neurological change scores." The efficacy and safety will be analyzed comparing the results of the treatment group with those of the control group.

Brain InjuryAggression

The purpose of this study is to study the effect of amantadine on irritability and aggression caused by traumatic brain injury.

Efficacy Study of a New Antimicrobial Wound Dressing to Treat Wounds Caused by Curettage and Electrodesiccation...

Acute Wounds

The purpose of this pilot clinical study is to compare healing rates, pain levels, and incidence of wound complications including infection with the use of a moist PROCELLERA™ Antimicrobial Wound Dressing when compared to a standard dressing, Mepilex® Border Lite, following curettage and electrodesiccation of skin lesions.

Early Intensive Hand Rehabilitation After Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal Cord Injury

Loss of hand function is one of the most devastating consequences of tetraplegia because of the severe impact on activities of daily living (ADL) and the resultant dependency on others. This multi-centre study in 78 participants will measure whether additional hand therapy provided via an electrical stimulator glove and specialised computer workstation improves hand function in people with tetraplegia.

Corticosteroid Therapy for Glucocorticoid Insufficiency Related to Traumatic Brain Injury

Traumatic Brain InjuryTrauma2 more

Traumatic brained injured (TBI) patients frequently suffered from glucocorticoid insufficiency that is associated with a raise in the rate of pneumonia. In a placebo-controlled, multi-center, double-blinded trial, treatment of glucocorticoid insufficiency (hydrocortisone associated with fludrocortisone) will be assessed for prevention of post trauma pneumonia in a population of severe TBI patients.
