Efficacy and Safety of hUC-MSCs and hUCB-MSCs in the Treatment of Chronic Spinal Cord Injury

There is evidence that human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs) can differentiate into oligodendrocytes and neurons, and improve the recovery of nerve function, which strongly suggests the feasibility and effectiveness of hUCB-MSCs as an intervention treatment for spinal cord injury. At present, there are only a few clinical centers in which hUCB-MSCs transplantation for treatment of chronic spinal cord injury has been performed and a certain degree of efficacy has been achieved. However, this has not been supported by systematic standardized randomized controlled trials. Therefore, the investigators design a prospective, randomized, open-label, parallel, controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs)/hUCB-MSCs to treat spinal cord injury. The primary objective of this study was to investigate whether hUC-MSCs)/hUCB-MSCs transplantation can improve the locomotor function of patients with spinal cord injury. The secondary objectives were to investigate whether hUC-MSCs)/hUCB-MSCs transplantation can improve the muscle tension of patients with spinal cord injury and investigate the complications and safety of hUC-MSCs)/hUCB-MSCs transplantation.

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of the investigational product, SBI-101, in subjects with an infectious etiology of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). SBI-101 is a biologic/device combination product designed to regulate inflammation and promote repair of injured tissue using allogeneic human mesenchymal stromal cells. SBI-101 will be integrated into the renal replacement circuit and patients will be treated for up to 24 hours.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) typically provokes secondary injury mechanisms, including the dynamic interplay between the ischemic, inflammatory, and cytotoxic processes. Moreover, such an impact induces a substantial level of cell death and results in the degeneration of the dendrites, thereby leading to persistent motor, sensory, and cognitive dysfunction. Previous studies have shown that the adult-born immature granule neurons in the dentate gyrus are the most susceptible of all the cell types in the hippocampus to damage following a moderate TBI due to a controlled cortical impact (CCI) device. Currently, there is no efficient approach available for avoiding immature neuron death or degeneration following TBI. Hence, this study aimed to assess the neuro-regenerative properties of co-ultramicronized PEALut (Glialia®), which is composed of palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and the flavonoid luteolin (Lut), in an in vivo model of TBI, as well as in patients affected by TBI.

This study aim to evaluate the safety and efficacy of intrathecal transplantation of allogeneic umbilical cord derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSC) for treatment of different phrases of spinal cord injury. Here, the history of spinal cord injury is divided into three periods, Sub-acute SCI, Early stage of chronic SCI, and Late stage of chronic SCI, which is 2W-2M, 2M-12M, and more than 12M after injury, respectively. The purpose is to investigate whether the patients with spinal cord injury benefit from UC-MSC transplantation, and then find out the best time for SCI treatment. In this part of the study, the investigators will treat patients with early stage of chronic spinal cord injury with UC-MSC transplantation or placebo.

The Use of iNPWT for Management of ALT Flap Donor Site Wound

Incisional Negative Pressure Wound Therapy

Primary closure or skin grafting of the donor site after harvest of a anterolateral thigh flap (ALT) is associated with significant morbidity. Incisional negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) may decrease complications in high-risk incisions. Successful use of NPWT has been reported in the treatment of ALT flap donor site wounds in a retrospective observational study, but no prospective study of NPWT application in the ALT flap donor site has been reported. This study aims to assess the incidence of complications at ALT flap donor site with an incisional NPWT device, PREVENA™. A prospective, controlled, pair-matched study has been designed to compare the effectiveness, complication rate, and scar quality of ALT flap donor site between using incisional NPWT and conventional bolster dressing.
