Augmentation of EMDR With MtCS in the Treatment of Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaPsychological Trauma2 moreFibromyalgia (FM) is a generalized, widespread chronic pain disorder and has an estimated prevalence of 2%-4% in the general population. Current pharmacological and psychological interventions frequently produce limited benefits in FM patients. Due to FM's strong association with psychological trauma causing neurobiological alterations in stress response, a trauma-focused psychotherapy is an innovative alternative treatment option. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has been recognized by the World Health Organization as a first-line therapeutic tool for post-traumatic stress disorder and first evidence suggests that it is also beneficial for patients with FM. Given the complex etiology of FM, a combination of psychotherapy with other treatment options can maximize a potential therapeutic success. A possible candidate herby is Multifocal transcranial Current Stimulation (MtCS), a non-invasive stimulation technique, which can modify neural activities related to pain and which has shown short-term positive effects on chronic pain and quality of life in FM patients. The patient sample will consist of 45 female patients meeting 2016 American College of Rheumatology criteria for FM based on a clinical interview. They will be randomized to 20 sessions of EMDR plus MtCS or EMDR plus sham-MtCS, or Treatment as Usual (TAU). Therapists, raters, and patients will be kept blind to MtCS treatment conditions. Evaluations will be at baseline, post treatment at 6 months, and follow-up at 12 months. Hypotheses are that EMDR improves pain intensity and clinical symptoms at short and long-term, and that MtCS enhances this effect, which will be superior to MtCS-sham.

The Effect of Core Exercises on Pelvic Dysfunction, Sexual Dysfunction, Pain, Sleep Quality and...
FibromyalgiaIn fibromyalgia patients, exercise is needed to reduce symptoms and to prevent muscle weakness with fatigue and pain. Core exercise retrains and strengthens deep postural spinal muscles such as the multifidus and transverse abdominis by promoting neuromuscular control, maintaining the dynamic stability of the spine and thus reducing pain. By performing core exercises, the pelvic floor, which forms the lower base of the core, is strengthened. Objective: It was planned to investigate the effects of core exercises on pelvic floor dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, pain, sleep quality and quality of life in women with fibromyalgia. Materials and Methods: It was designed as randomized control. Sexually active women with fibromyalgia syndrome between the ages of 18-65 will be included in the study. After the patients are selected from the relevant stage with the improbable random sampling method, the patients who accept to participate in the study and meet the inclusion criteria will be assigned to one of the groups in which the core exercise or home program is applied. Evaluations will be evaluated for each group before starting the exercise program and 1 day after the last session, following the completion of 2 sessions per week for 8 weeks. Pain Visual Analog Scale; fibromyalgia impact level Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQR); pelvic floor dysfunction Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire (PFIQ); sexual dysfunction Female Sexual Function Scale; sleep quality: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index; short quality of life It is planned to be evaluated with Form-36(SF-36). Conclusion: The effects of core exercises on pelvic floor dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, pain, sleep quality and quality of life will be evaluated and interpreted by comparing the evaluations before and after treatment and between groups.

Interoception in Patients With Medically Unexplained Symptoms
FibromyalgiaBurnout1 moreThe goal of this observational study is to learn about interoception in patients with stress related syndromes (overstrain, burnout; SRS) and functional disorder (fibromyalgia/ chronic fatigue syndrome; FD). The main questions it aims to answer are: Is there a significant difference in interoception between patients with SRS and healthy controls? Is there a significant difference in interoception between patients with FD and healthy controls? Is there a significant difference in interoception between patients with SRS and FD? The participants will perform the respiratory occlusion discrimination task and have to fill out some questionnaires. Researchers will compare healthy controls to see if there is a significant difference.
Tool for Fibromyalgia Diagnosis and Effect of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
FibromyalgiaPRONACERA THERAPEUTICS S.L. is a young biotechnological company focused on the development of genetic diagnostic tools and treatments for pathologies in different medical areas such as reproduction, fibromyalgia and rare diseases or with deficiencies in diagnosis, with the aim of helping to optimize health systems through improvement in terms and forms of diagnosis. Among the multiple lines of R+D+i that are currently being developed, the reproductive genomic line and endometrial functional molecular biology stand out. Specifically, it develops the design of markers and performs the genetic analysis of infertility focused on female endometrial tissue. Fibromyalgia is a complex and common chronic pain disorder that affects 12 million Europeans. Along with other symptoms, fibromyalgia causes pain and general tenderness to touch. Currently this disease is diagnosed following the criteria established by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) of a combination of relevant symptoms and the description of how the person feels. In other words, in practice it is a diagnosis by elimination. A patient suffering from fibromyalgia usually takes between 2 to 3 years to obtain the correct diagnosis. Health experts consider that fibromyalgia is a disease that is difficult to diagnose and that is associated with an expensive use of health system services. With FIBROKIT, Pronacera aims to design and develop a new diagnostic and monitoring tool for fibromyalgia by designing a panel of specific plasma proteome and intestinal microbiome biomarkers and reducing the number of biological samples used. During the execution of this project, the company will have three leading research and innovation organizations in the sector (Helix BioS, CINUSA and CICbioGUNE) that will support Pronacera. FIBROKIT will have a cohort of 250 participants (206 patients and 44 healthy volunteers) to validate the diagnostic capacity of the tool and perform a robust biostatistical study.
