Treatment of Fibromyalgia Using Deep Shaped-Field Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation a Clinical Feasibility...
FibromyalgiaDeep shaped-field transcranial magnetic stimulation is a new type of transcranial magnetic stimulation technology which may provide a drug-free method for treating fibromyalgia. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness and the durability of effect of Deep shaped-field repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in men and women diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
The Impact of Omega-3 Fatty Acid Supplements on Fibromyalgia Symptoms
FibromyalgiaThe purpose of this study is to find out if omega-3 fatty acid supplements are more effective than an inactive placebo at reducing pain, reducing fatigue and elevating mood in patients with fibromyalgia.
Study to Assess Mechanisms in Peripheral Tissue Innervation for Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaThe purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of the nerves and the small veins in the skin of people with fibromyalgia. The investigators will then use this information to identify possible processes in the skin that may help explain why some people feel pain relief with the study drug (duloxetine) and others do not. Duloxetine affects certain chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters. An abnormality in these chemicals is thought to be related to fibromyalgia. Duloxetine is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), similar to some drugs used for the treatment of depression. Duloxetine is approved for sale in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of fibromyalgia.
Paroxetine-CR (Paxil-CR) in the Treatment of Patients With Fibromyalgia Syndrome
Fibromyalgia SyndromeObjective: Although there is a high comorbidity of depressive and/or anxiety disorders with fibromyalgia, information on the clinical implications of this comorbidity is limited. We investigated whether a history of depressive and/or anxiety disorders was associated with response to treatment in a double blind, randomized, placebo controlled trial of paroxetine controlled release (CR) in fibromyalgia. Method: One hundred and sixteen fibromyalgia subjects were randomized to receive paroxetine CR (dose 12.5-62.5 mg/day) or placebo for 12 weeks. The Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I-plus) was used to ascertain current or past diagnoses of depressive and anxiety disorders. Patients with current depressive or anxiety disorders were excluded, but those with past diagnoses were enrolled in the trial. Subjective depression and anxiety were assessed using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI); subjects were excluded if they scored greater than 23 on the BDI. Health Status was determined using the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36), the Sheehan Disability Scale (SDS), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The primary outcome was treatment response defined as ≥ 25% reduction in the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) score. Secondary outcomes included changes in scores on the Clinical Global Impression-Severity and Improvement (CGI-S and CGI-I respectively), the Visual Analogue Scale for Pain (VAS) scores and number of tender points.

FibromyalgiaThe present study was designed to analyze and compare the effects of Manual Lymph Drainage Therapy and Connective Tissue Massage in females with Fibromyalgia (FM).
FMS European Long-Term Study
Fibromyalgia SyndromeInvestigation of the long-term (12 months) efficacy and safety of milnacipran used in the treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome.
Trazodone and Its Augmentation With Pregabalin in the Treatment of Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaThe study has a double purpose: a first phase intends to assess the effectiveness and tolerability of trazodone, an antidepressant with sedative and sleep-promoting properties, in the treatment of fibromyalgia; a second phase intends to evaluate if the addition of pregabalin to patients who have shown a partial response to trazodone additionally improves fibromyalgia symptomatology.
Fibromyalgia Acupuncture Study
FibromyalgiaThe acupuncture treatment in this study is particularly aimed at reducing the pain and other negative health events such as emotional trauma and disability associated with Fibromyalgia, while improving the quality of life and promoting general health.
Pregabalin In Adolescent Patients With Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaThe main purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety of pregabalin in adolescent patients who participated in the previous fibromyalgia study (A0081180) and who wish to recieve open-label pregabalin
Efficacy of S-Adenosylmethionine in Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia SyndromeFundamentally, the trial aims to conduct a gold-standard test of the clinical impact of SAM-e in the treatment of depressed mood and general symptoms of fibromyalgia (FMS). As such, salient clinical and pathological parameters will be assessed over an 8-week period in 60 patients who will be provided with either SAM-e or a placebo preparation . On the basis of previous literature, it is hypothesised that patients in the active treatment group will experience moderate but significant improvements across the clinical measures, and that these gains will be significantly greater than any reported in the placebo group. All patients will provide informed consent. All procedures will be conducted under medical supervision and the preparation itself is very safe when used in the manner proposed for the trial
