Do Advanced Hybrid Closed Loop Systems Effect Nutrient Intake?: Real Life Data

Type 1 Diabetes

This 6-month follow-up study was conducted to investigate the effect of AHCLS on the energy and macronutrient intake of children, adolescents, and young adults with Type 1 diabetes (T1D). All participants with T1D on an AHCLS (MiniMed 780GTM) receiving care at the Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Clinic of Ege University (Izmir, Turkey) were eligible for the study. The children and adolescents with T1D with at least 3 days of food diary available before AHCLS and at 3rd and 6th months at AHCLS were included in the study

Adolescent Self-Care and Knowledge Education in Diabetes--Improved by Texting

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

This study is a randomized controlled trial assessing diabetes knowledge (using a Mercy-What I Know About Diabetes Test (MWIKAD) validated survey) and self-care practices (using a validated Self-management of Type 1 Diabetes-Adolescence (SMOD-A) survey) at baseline, 3 months and 6 months. The intervention group will receive a minimum of 78 text messages related to diabetes over the course of 26 weeks from study enrollment. Subjects are invited to respond to some text messages which will be in the form of a multiple-choice question and if they do, they will receive an additional text message in response to their answer.

Comparison of the Use of Energy Substrates and Hormonal Regulation of Blood Sugar During Exercise...

Type 1 Diabetes

The type 1 diabetes is a common chronic disease characterised by the stop of production of insulin by the pancreas. A lot of factors modify blood glucose. The objective is to study the effect of type 1 diabetes on the use of energy substrates (fats and carbohydrates) during exercise of increasing intensity by a comparison with non-diabetic controls children.

Impact of the Continuous Measurement of Blood Glucose on Insulin Pump on Child Quality of Life With...

Type1diabetes

The implementation of a sensor of glycemia Enlite coupled with an insulin pump (Medtronic Minimed 640G) is a therapeutic option that Hospital of Mulhouse can propose to the children affected by type 1 diabetes. The glycemic rate detected by the sensor of continuous measure of the glycemia is visible in real time on the pump and then the rate can be normalized. The study will evaluate the impact of the continuous measurement of blood glucose on insulin pump on child quality of life with type 1 diabetes aged 2 to 13 years old.

Evaluation of the Impact of a Therapeutic Education Program for Children With Type 1 Diabetes

Diabetes MellitusType I3 more

The needs of children and teens with type 1 diabetes are very specific and different from the adults with type 1 diabetes. Many organizations such as the World Health Organization or the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes, recommend a patient therapeutic education when it comes to children with type 1 diabetes. This study aims to evaluate the impact of a therapeutic education program on theoretical knowledge of the disease and also on quality of life, on biological and clinical indicators.

Comparison of Th1 Cytokine Levels Between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes

Type 1 DiabetesType 2 Diabetes

Recent reports show increased prevalence of obesity in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1DP)s while some studies stated that patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DPs) have islet cell auto-antibodies. These results raise the question of a common pathway in T1DM and T2DM via an association with T helper cells. In this study investigators aimed to investigate the difference between T helper 1 (Th1) cytokines levels in T1DPs, T2DPs and healthy subjects. The study included 114 T1DPs on insulin treatment, 35 newly diagnosed T2DPs who had not used oral antidiabetics but insulin before and 31 healthy subjects (CG). Serum interferon gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-2 (IL-2) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) levels were measured using ELISA method. Serum levels of those cytokines in T1DPs were compared with those in T2DPs and controls.

Celiac Disease and Diabetes Longitudinal Follow-up and Evaluation Study

Celiac DiseaseCeliac2 more

To the investigators' knowledge, no single long-term prospective observational study has assessed dietary factors, diabetes clinical variables (metabolic control and associated complications), and self -perceived health and wellness in T1D patients (both pediatric and adult) with CD identified by screening (positive/weakly positive serology). The aim of the current study is to observe the short- and long-term outcomes for Type 1 diabetic patients with new serology positive asymptomatic CD.

The PK and PD of Dapagliflozin Therapy in Combination With Insulin in Japanese Subjects With T1DM...

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

This randomized, single-blind, 3 arm, parallel group, placebo controlled PK/PD study will enrol 30 Japanese male and female patients with T1DM and age 18 to 65 years, with inadequate glycemic control on insulin defined as HbA1c ≥ 7.0% and ≤ 10.0% at screening visit. lacebo-controlled design. Patients will be randomized in a 1:1:1 ratio into one of the 3 single-blinded treatment arms; dapagliflozin 5 mg, dapagliflozin 10 mg or placebo. CSII user are excluded.

Evaluation of Corneal Confocal Microscopy for the Identification and Prediction of Neuropathy in...

Diabetic PolyneuropathyDiabetes Mellitus5 more

Through the multinational pooled dataset approach, this trial will aim to derive and validate specific in vivo Corneal Confocal Microscopy (CCM) parameter thresholds for the identification of diabetic polyneuropathy, and - more importantly - the identification of individuals at future risk. Results of the study will permit application in clinical practice and intervention trials for diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) risk stratification. The primary goal of the study is to re-examine individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes with and without neuropathy, who had CCM performed in the past as a part of their neurological examination, to assess concurrent and predictive validity of different CCM parameters in individuals . These subjects will be invited to the study to be re-examined by CCM along with other neurological tests (physical exam, nerve conduction studies, quantitative sensory testing, blood test and in some centres also skin biopsy) during the single study visit. Additionally CCM data will be analyzed both manually and by recently developed automated analytical software to evaluate accuracy of the automated method. Evaluation of automated image analysis will influence likelihood of successful knowledge translation of this surrogate biomarker for DPN into clinical practice - in which the procedure could be harmonized with annual retinal examinations - and into intervention trials. Secondary aim of the study is to determine the factors associated with CCM parameters and their longitudinal change and collect bio-samples for future research in this field.
