Diabetes Risk Diagnosis and Management
Diabetes MellitusType 2Considering the multifactorial nature of the complications of Type 2 diabetes, such as cardiovascular and neurological complications and therefore the multiplicity of risk factors that contribute to their development, it is assumed that the use of a dedicated function of the MyStar Connect software (beta version), that allows the querying of the application through specific queries (presence of risk factors) and the calculation of specific risk scores in order to extract the patients most at risk of developing such complications, can provide support to the diabetologist to optimize management of the patient at risk and complicated through, for example, a more intensive visit program and this then translates into an improvement in the parameters related to these risk factors.

Improving Diabetes Outcomes for People With Severe Mental Illness (SMI)
Diabetes MellitusType 21 moreThis study aims to identify the determinants of diabetes and to explore variation in diabetes outcomes for people with severe mental illness (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder) in order to develop potential healthcare interventions that can be tested further. The study utilises a mixed methods design comprising analysis of patient primary care records and interviews with patients living with comorbid SMI and diabetes, family carers and healthcare professionals involved in commissioning or delivering healthcare for this population. This entry on the Protocol Registration and Results System describes only the quantitative Work Package of the study in detail i.e. analysis of patient primary care records.
Developing a Positive Psychology Intervention to Improve Health Behaviors in Type 2 Diabetes: Qualitative...
Diabetes MellitusType 2Specific Aim #1 (Qualitative Research): To identify, through qualitative research, deficits in positive affect and associated barriers to completing health behaviors in type 2 DM patients. Hypothesis: Patients will be able to complete the structured interview, providing information about their own positive emotional states, identifying strategies to enhance positive emotions, linking the presence of positive emotions to better adherence to health-related behaviors, and identifying additional barriers to completing such behaviors. Specific Aim #2 (Creation of intervention): To use the data gathered from qualitative and quantitative measures to create a positive psychology-based intervention Hypothesis: Using the information provided in this trial, the investigators will be able to create an intervention, composed of several positive psychology exercises, that is well-matched with a diabetic population and is targeted to the enhancement adherence to health-related behaviors in this population. This intervention will then be ready for next stage testing.
