Ulcer Monitoring in Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes MellitusFoot UlcersTelemedicine technology enables a direct and online text- and image communication in the treatment system from patient to the ulcer specialist. The technology is expected to have patient-related, economic and therapeutic benefits. The study is a substudy of a larger project entitled "Renewing Health", where also the economic and management aspects are highlighted. However, only few randomized prospective studies are conducted in this field. The purpose of the study is in a randomized prospective study, to assess the impact of the introduction of the telemedicine technology as consultation form between ulcer-nurses in the primary sector and the wound clinics at the hospitals in the region. It is assessed whether the technology can be adopted without incurring the patient a risk. The study aims to perform an impact analysis of the introduction of new technologies for telemedicine wound monitoring in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers through different studies.
Preliminary Study Leading to Prevention of Pressure Ulcers by the Use of an On-board Device : Ergonomic...
Pressure UlcerAnalysis of stored seat-pressures in SCI patients during a 4-week use of an on-board device. During this period, patients write in an agenda noteworthy events that could occur while they're using their wheelchair. A control is done every week and the device can be changed until it is returned at the end of the study period.
Golimumab in Steroid-dependent Ulcerative Colitis: Induction and Maintenance of Clinical and Endoscopic...
ColitisUlcerativeThis is an open-label, phase IV trial. Adult patients, with moderately to severe, steroid dependent, acute ulcerative colitis not previously exposed to anti-TNF, will receive subcutaneous golimumab treatment, according to EU marketing authorization from baseline through week 14. At week 16, patients achieving clinical and endoscopic remission will continue with Golimumab, 50 mg or 100 mg (depending on body weight) every 4 weeks, through week 52. Patients not achieving clinical and endoscopic remission will be treated with infliximab, according to marketing authorization, and followed through week 52. This is not considered as an interventional arm but, since infliximab in Italy is considered as the first-line treatment for UC patients, as the usual clinical practice.
Treatment of Chronic Leg Ulcer in Outpatient's Department and i Primary Care - Wound Size and Inflammation...
Treatment of Leg UlcerSharp Debridement1 moreThe purpose of this study is to investigate the rate of wound healing using sharp debridement using curette and to compare between such intensive treatment at hospital and treatment in primary care. A correlation between change in wound size and pro-inflammatory cytokines will also be made.
Interdisciplinary Mobility Approach To Reduction Of Facility-Acquired Pressure Ulcers
Pressure UlcersMusical reminder will raise compliance with mobility in the long-term care setting and reduce facility-acquired pressure ulcers.
Ulcer Prevention Study in Post Gastric Bypass Patients
Marginal UlcersThis research is to determine which medication, Zegerid (Omeprazole/Sodium Bicarbonate) or Pepcid AC (Famotidine), works best at reducing the chance that a patient will get an ulcer after gastric bypass surgery.
Chromoscopic Guided Endomicroscpy to Diagnose Colitis Associated Dysplasia
Ulcerative ColitisIntraepithelial Neoplasia1 moreTimely diagnosis of intraepithelial neoplasias (premalignant condition)is of crucial importance for clinical management of ulcerative colitis. We assessed the value of combined chromoscopy and endomicroscopy for diagnosis of intraepithelial neoplasias in a randomised controlled trial. Endomicroscopy is a new device which enables microscopy of the mucosal layer during ongoing colonoscopy. Chromoscopy means topical staining of mucosal surface to unmask areas of interest, which are subsequently examined with the endomicroscopic system.
Intermittent Pneumatic Compression of the Foot vs Geko Plus R-2 Neuromuscular Electrostimulation...
Venous Leg UlcerChronic venous leg ulcers (VLU) are painful, debilitating wounds that place a significant burden on the patient, their family, and healthcare resources. Treating VLU can present a significant challenge to clinicians, who currently have a limited range of treatments at their disposal. The mainstay of treatment is compression bandaging, ambulation and elevation at rest. In addition to the aforementioned, intermittent pneumatic compression has also been utilised1. When applied to the leg or foot intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) devices intermittently inflate and deflate to increase venous return. These devices can be uncomfortable to wear, and compliance can be inhibited because of size, weight and external power source that limit the patient's mobility. In patients who cannot walk, or in those who are unable to tolerate compression bandaging, ulcers may deteriorate and never heal. Accordingly, there is a need for novel, alternative devices or strategies that can be used to complement or replace compression bandage therapy.
Effect of Vitamin D Supplementation on Vedolizumab Response in Patients With Ulcerative Colitis...
Ulcerative ColitisVitamin D Deficiency1 moreIt is uncertain whether vitD3 supplementation is beneficial for the remission of ulcerative colitis (UC). The effects of vitD3 supplements on the efficacy of vidrecizumab in Chinese UC patients were retrospectively analyzed. Methods: Patients with moderate to severe UC were recorded. These patients were initially treated with VDZ. VitD3 supplementation was defined as 400IU/d vitD3 supplementation during the first infusion of VDZ and continued throughout the follow-up period. Disease activity was assessed using the modified Mayo score.
Effectiveness of Golimumab in Patients With Ulcerative Colitis: Results of a Real-life Study in...
Ulcerative ColitisFlare Up1 moreTNF inhibitors have improved treatment options for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and three TNF inhibitors, infliximab, adalimumab and golimumab are available for treatment of ulcerative colitis in Switzerland. However, these drugs have been tested under ideal conditions in randomized controlled trials. Real-world data are needed to complement this information. It is the aim of the investigators to study, whether patients with ulcerative colitis can be effectively treated with golimumab in a real world setting in Switzerland. The investigators used data from the Swiss IBD cohort study (SIBDC) in Switzerland and identified all SIBDC patients with UC treated with Golimumab and performed a retrospective chart review. The investigators acquired patient reported outcomes and objective measures for inflammation at baseline, at 6-10 weeks and at 6 and 12 months after golimumab treatment. Primary endpoint was clinical response (i.e. meaningful improvement) at 6-10 weeks. Secondary endpoints were clinical response at 6 and 12 months and clinical remission (i.e. free of symptoms of disease).
