Nutrition-Focused Quality Improvement Program (QIP) Among Community Dwelling Malnourished Patients...
MalnutritionThis study aims to assess the malnutrition prevalence of Colombian community-dwelling adults and evaluate the feasibility of a nutrition-focused QIP implemented in a Colombian ambulatory care facility on healthcare utilization.
Screening Day Latin America
Nutritional StatusMalnutrition1 moreThis is a survey which will be performed on a specific day (the "Screening Day") in Latin American ICUs. In eligible patients who receive enteral or parenteral nutrition a retrospective calculation of the "caloric deficit" will be performed. The caloric deficit is the difference between energy target of each patient and actually administered calories.
Prevalence of Hospital Malnutrition in Adult Patients
MalnutritionMalnutrition of patients on admission to hospitals are estimated to be as high as 60%, although the prevalence varies between countries. The impact of malnutrition on patient recovery and discharge is severe, with extensive cost implications. This study aims to assess the prevalence of at risk for malnutrition among adult patients admitted to hospital across 3 countries on the African continent.
Malnutrition In Non-Celiac Wheat Sensitivity Patients
Non-Celiac Wheat SensitivityNon-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) or 'wheat sensitivity' (NCWS) is included in the spectrum of gluten-related disorders. No data are available on the prevalence of low bone mass density (BMD) in NCWS. Our study aims to evaluate the prevalence of malnutrition in NCWS patients and search for correlations with other clinical characteristics. This prospective observation study will include 90 NCWS patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)-like symptoms, 90 IBS and 90 celiac controls. Patients will be recruited at the Internal Medicine and at the Gastroenterology Units of the University of Palermo. Elimination diet and double-blind placebo controlled (DBPC) wheat challenge proved the NCWS diagnosis. All subjects underwent nutritional parameters measurement, duodenal histology, Human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) DQ typing and body mass index (BMI) evaluation.
Mobile -Solutions Aiding Knowledge for Health Improvement
Under NutritionUsing a community-based, cluster randomized controlled trial design (cRCT) the investigators will examine the impact of an integrated "m-health package -(M- SAKHI) for mothers on appropriate infant feeding practices, starting in the first / second trimester of pregnancy to 24 months after delivery, to improve child feeding practices and child growth, and reduce the prevalence of undernutrition in their children. This will result in two treatment groups. The clusters for the trial will be villages under the administrative area of ASHAs (Accreditated Social Health Activists). Villages with a population of 1000- 2000 (ranging from 751 to 2000) with 1 ASHA will be randomized to receive intervention (intervention villages) or continue existing delivery of care (control villages). The data will be collected using a longitudinal design because the investigators want to study the impact of intervention on the mothers starting at pregnancy until her infant is 24 month old.
Nutritional Status and Quality of Life in Older Adults
MalnutritionThe aim of this study is to determine the nutritional status, and factors affecting malnutrition in older people staying in hospitals. Objectives: To recruit a sample of older people in hospital To collect information on nutritional status, satisfaction with food-related life and experience with access to food in hospital. To assess the staffing attitudes to nutritional care of the older adult To undertake an audit of therapeutic ('special') diets served in hospitals, with respect to their nutritional adequacy and wastage To investigate predictors and correlates of malnutrition within the hospital setting and compare these relationships with those previously identified in care homes and the community. To make recommendations for practice to improve the nutritional status of hospitalised older adults.
Observational Study at the Influence of Malnutrition on Infections
MalnutritionThe purpose of this trial is to determine whether nutritional status has an impact on nosocomial infections. Study population are patients undergoing early neurological rehabilitation.
ANC1 Study Impact of a Geriatric and Nutritional Evaluation for the Malnutrition and Malnutrition...
Colorectal TumorMalnutrition priori a major abdominal surgery is frequent and increases morbidity and mortality. The management of malnutrition has an impact in reducing postoperative complications. However malnutrition is rarely detected and Guidelines infrequently followed. Recovery time and nutritional evaluation in elderly patients are major criteria in their postoperative management. Identifying malnutrition or malnutrition risk is fundamental to its treatment. It is therefore unsurprising that many validated tools for nutrition risk screening and nutrition assessment exist for the clinician to use in assisting with the accurate identification, referral and treatment of patients who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition. And nutritional management must be adapted and based on this evaluation and evolution of the general status (Guidelines Grade A). A geriatric evaluation based on a screening of preoperative malnutrition should allow a better implementation of the European Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ESPEN) guidelines.
Effects of Malnutrition on Colon Cancer Patients With Abdominal Surgery
MalnutritionColon CancerThe prevalence of malnutrition in patients with colorectal cancer is recorded. We want to find out, if a malnourished patient has more complications after the elective surgery.
The Prevalence of Malnutrition and Sarcopenia in Swiss Rehabilitation Settings
MalnutritionSarcopeniaThe aim of the study is to identify the prevalence of malnutrition and sarcopenia in patients admitted in Swiss rehabilitation centers. Furthermore, the aim is to investigate the changes of selected malnutrition and sarcopenia parameters over the length of the rehabilitation stay.
