Ceftriaxone in the Management of Bipolar Depression
Bipolar DepressionWe aim to study the efficacy of intravenous ceftriaxone in a four-week, inpatient, placebo-controlled, double-blind study, as an augmentation therapy in patients with bipolar disorder, currently depressed, who have failed to respond to conventional treatments.
A Study of Mifepristone vs. Placebo in the Treatment of Patients With Major Depression With Psychotic...
Psychotic DepressionSevere Major Depression With Psychotic Features1 moreApproximately 450 patients will be randomized to receive mifepristone or placebo for 7 days followed by antidepressant. The purpose is to compare the efficacy of mifepristone followed by antidepressant versus placebo followed by antidepressant in reducing psychotic symptoms in patients with a diagnosis of psychotic depression.
Family Based Treatment of Depressed Adolescents
Depressive DisorderMood Disorder1 moreThe purpose of this project is to assess the effectiveness of a family-based therapy (Attachment based family therapy-ABFT) for Norwegian adolescents (13-17 years) referred to specialist mental heath clinics.
Use of Risperidone in ECT for Treatment Resistant Depression
Major DepressionThe purpose of this study is to determine if the combination of risperidone and ECT improves a patient's response in depression compared to ECT alone.
Assessing Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation as a Treatment for Refractory Depression...
DepressionThe hypothesis of this study was that transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) focused on hyperfunctional cerebral areas should be more effective in treating depressive symptoms than stimulations not taking into account the functional specificity of the patient. The goal was to compare the effects of "guided" TMS, using neuroimaging to guide TMS on dysfunctional cortical regions individually detected by neuroimaging, with "standard TMS", as used in most studies, over the left prefrontal cortex, and with sham TMS, in patients with resistant depression.
Sertraline in Generalized Social Phobia With Co-Occurring Anxiety and Mood Disorders
PhobiaSocial5 moreSelective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) including sertraline have been found to be effective in the treatment of generalized social phobia (GSP). However, virtually all of the current treatment studies with medicines, including the SSRIs, have excluded patients with social phobia who have other co-occurring conditions. In fact, 80% of individuals suffering with primary social phobia have at least one other anxiety. This study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of sertraline in the treatment of generalized social phobia with co-occurring anxiety and mood disorders.
Treatment of Depression With Quetiapine
Major Depression With Psychotic FeaturesThe purpose of this study is to examine the mood stabilizing and antipsychotic properties of quetiapine in the treatment of depression by comparing subjects who were randomly assigned to either quetiapine monotherapy, quetiapine and citalopram; or haloperidol and citalopram. We hypothesize that quetiapine monotherapy would have similar effects to the combination of a first generation antipsychotic plus an antidepressant for the treatment of a major depressive episode with psychosis.
Efficacy of Daylight as Adjunctive Treatment in Patients With Depression
Unipolar DepressionThe aim of this study is to improve the treatment effect for outpatients with depression by adding regular daily morning daylight exposure to their treatment with antidepressants. Patients will wear a personal light tracker to keep them motivated. Our hypothesis is that patients daily exposed to morning daylight, as a supplement to standard treatment for depression, will achieve significantly higher antidepressant effect that patients receiving standard treatment alone. Furthermore, we hypothesize that they will experience improved well-being and sleep.

Major Depressive Disorder With Suicidal Ideation With IntentStudy of efficacy and safety of MIJ821 in addition to comprehensive standard of care on the rapid reduction of symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in subjects who have suicidal ideation with intent
Effectiveness of IPT-G in Major Depression
Depressive DisorderMajorAlthough antidepressants are the primary treatment for major depression, response and remission rates are unsatisfactory. The primary objective of this study is to identify if adding interpersonal group therapy (IPT-G) to the usual psychopharmacological and clinical management treatment will improve depressive symptoms in major depression outpatients.
