Efficacy of Olanzapine Monotherapy for Treatment Bipolar Ⅰ Depression
Bipolar DisorderDepression1 moreOlanzapine may have some antidepressant properties and olanzapine monotherapy has been shown efficacy in bipolar depressive episodes in retrospective studies. However, there has been no prospective study about the monotherapy of olanzapine. The investigators conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled study to test the efficacy of olanzapine monotherapy for treatment of the depressed phase of bipolar disorder.
Epidemiology and Prevention of Anxiety and Depression in Parents of Hospitalized Neonates
DepressionThe overall goal of this project is to elucidate the epidemiology of anxiety and depression in parents of hospitalized neonates and test a comprehensive intervention program to prevent anxiety and depression in parents in this setting.
Safety and Pharmacodynamic Study of ABT-436 in Major Depressive Disorder
Major Depressive DisorderThis is a multiple-dose study to assess the safety and pharmacology of ABT-436 in physically healthy subjects with mild to moderate depressive symptoms who are not taking any antidepressant medication. Efficacy for treatment of depressive symptoms is not a goal of this study.
A Study in Prevention of Re-emergence of Depression Symptoms
Major Depressive DisorderThe primary objective of this study was to assess the maintenance of efficacy of LY2216684 compared with placebo as adjunctive therapy to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) as measured by the time-to-symptom reemergence among participants with major depressive disorder (MDD) who met randomization criteria with adjunctive LY2216684 during the stabilization period. This trial consists of two distinct periods: an open-label treatment period, which consists of two parts, 8 weeks acute open-label with movement to 12 weeks open-label stabilization if participants are in remission at end of 8 weeks (open-label for 20 weeks total) followed by a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled period for 24 weeks.
Changes of Functional Connectivity After rTMS in Depression
Major DepressionIn order to explore the effect of repetitive TMS, which has shown to be effective in intractable depression, we will examine resting-state, default-mode network functional connectivity in patients with major depression. We will use a double-blind, sham-controlled design. Our target sample size is 60(30 patients will be treated by active rTMS, the other 30 will be treated by sham rTMS). We will apply 10-day course of 10 Hz rTMS on left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex of the subjects.
Tranylcypromine Treatment of Bipolar Depression
Bipolar Disorder I or IIThis study seeks to investigate whether tranylcypromine (Parnate®) might be an effective treatment of bipolar depression. New treatments are needed, as there is little evidence that standard antidepressants are effective in treating this condition, and the two antipsychotic medications that have indications for bipolar depression can cause substantial side effects. This study will focus specifically on currently depressed outpatients having a bipolar history for whom at least one standard antidepressant medication was ineffective. Patients will be treated openly with tranylcypromine for 8-10 months, depending on treatment response.
Exercise in Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD): A Feasibility Study
Treatment Resistant DepressionThe objective of this study is to determine the effects of adjunct exercise in treatment resistant depression. The central hypothesis for the research is that adjunct exercise with usual care in Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD) will have significant effects in improving the psychiatric symptoms in comparison to usual care alone.
Maintenance NeuroStar Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in Patients With Major Depressive...
Major Depressive DisorderThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of scheduled maintenance Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment compared to on-demand TMS treatment for symptomatic worsening in patients who have shown a clinical response to acute TMS treatment.
MoodHelper: Internet Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Depression
DepressionEvidence-based treatments (EBTs) for mental health conditions are often not available to persons needing them in the community. Our aim is to test a novel Internet intervention that has the promise of eventually improving the Reach and Implementation of mental health EBTs, speeding the translation of research successes into improved community care.
Pulsating ElectroMagnetive Treatment (PEMF) at Treatment Resistant Depression
Treatment Resistant DepressionIn this study patients with treatment resistant depression, as defined by Harold Sackeim, is subjected to daily sessions, for eight weeks, with Pulsating ElectroMagnetive Treatment (PEMF). Treatment is given two times a day, in the morning and in the afternoon. Patients are randomized into two groups. In group A patients receive active treatment both morning and afternoon. In group B patients receive one sham and one active treatment. The study is double-blind as neither the assessors or patients are aware of treatment allocation. Each session lasts 30 minutes. Patients are psychometrically assessed weekly for depression severity and side effect. After this intervention period patients are followed for further three weeks without PEMF treatment. Patients are on unchanged medication for the whole of the study period.
