Prediction of Uterine Atony After Vaginal Delivery by Elastography
Postpartum HemorrhageProspective study evaluating the feasibility of shear-wave elastography of the uterus during the third stage of labour and following placental delivery. The investigators hypothesize that the stiffness of the myometrium can be measured by using shear-wave technology. This study involves 30 patients with a healthy pregnancy and spontaneous vaginal delivery. One co-investigator will carry out measurements at the uterine fundus, at three different time points: after fetal delivery, after placental delivery and 30 minutes after placental delivery.

Cooling the Uterus in C-section After Dysfunctional Labor
Blood LossDysfunctional Labor1 moreThe objective of the study is to demonstrate whether cooling the uterine smooth muscle during cesarean section (following delivery of the fetus) will promote better uterine contraction and involution resulting in lower blood loss, use of fewer uterotonic medications, and fewer hysterectomies following cesarean section for dysfunctional labor.
Serum Antimullerian Hormone Levels in Patients Who Underwent Hayman Suture
Uterine Atony With HemorrhageOvarian DysfunctionFrom patient charts we will review patients who had undergone cesarean section within the last 6 months and identify those who received a The Hayman uterine compression suture for uterine atony. We will also select patients who delivered a baby without recieving a Hayman suture to create a control group. Patietns will be grouped as Hayman Group if they recevied a Hayman suture during C/S and control group if thay had not recevied a Hayman suture. We will then check patient charts for post-cesarean outpatient clinic visit and select those who received ovarian reserve evaluation via hormones and antral follicle count during the visits. Finally, we are planning to investigate any correlation between Hayman suture and ovarian dysfunction.
Questionnaire for Obstetricians and Anesthesiologist
Uterine BleedingAtony2 moreThe research was planned as a face-to-face survey evaluation. The questionnaire will be applied to obstetricians and anesthesiologists working in public and private hospitals. The universe of the research will be selected by simple random sampling method, and the total number of people who will participate is planned to be 200, approximately 100 from each of the two branches. Our survey consists of 5 parts structurally. Demographic data, rate of cesarean section and postpartum hemorrhage, uterotonic agent preferences in low/high risk cesarean section surgeries, the preference for second-line uterotonic agents, and the dose preferences of uterotonic agents.
Exploration and Determination of Genomic Markers Predictive of Uterine Atony
Uterine AtonyThe primary objective of this study is to determine whether there are markers in the tissue of atonic uteri, and in the patients' plasma that would help identify patients likely to suffer postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony. We also will attempt to identify the cause(s) of uterine atony that might suggest mechanisms to prevent and manage it.
