A Phase II Study of Therapy With Paclitaxel, Carboplatin and Megesterol Acetate for the Management...
Uterine CancerThis is a study to determine the optimal treatment for patients with advanced stage or recurrent endometrial cancer. Traditionally, patients have been treated with either hormonal therapies (megesterol) or chemotherapy (paclitaxel and carboplatin). This study investigates the effectiveness of the combination of hormonal therapy and chemotherapy. This study also will examine the side-effects associated with these drugs and the quality of life of patients on combination therapy.
Megestrol Acetate Plus Metformin to Megestrol Acetate in Patients With Endometrial Atypical Hyperplasia...
Endometrial Atypical HyperplasiaEndometrial AdenocarcinomaThe purpose of this study is to see if megestrol acetate plus metformin will be more effective in returning the endometrial tissue to a normal state than megestrol acetate alone in patients with endometrial atypical hyperplasia or early stage endometrial adenocarcinoma.
Combination Chemotherapy Consisting of Pegylated Liposomal Doxorubicin and Carboplatin in Malignant...
Cancer of the Ovary Treated as 2nd Line TherapyMuellerian Mixed Tumours3 morePegylated Liposomal Doxorubicin as well as Carboplatin have been showed efficacy in monotherapy as in combination therapy of gynaecologic tumours. As there is no common standard in the therapy of recurrent ovarian carcinoma, tumours of the uterus nor for non-epithelial ovarian tumours at time of designing of this study, this trial shall evaluate the new and well tolerated combination therapy consisting of Pegylated Liposomal Doxorubicin and Carboplatin.
A Study of Radiation Therapy and Paclitaxel and Carboplatin in Patients With Uterine Papillary Serous...
Uterine CancerCombination chemo/radiotherapy trials in advanced/recurrent endometrial cancer are ongoing. The optimal radiation modality, chemotherapeutic agents, and sequence of these regimens for the treatment of UPSC are yet to be established. A retrospective review of 16 patients treated at our institution with the sequential use of radiation "sandwiched" between paclitaxel/platinum chemotherapy found only one patient to have recurred at 16 months with a median follow-up of 15 months (range 6-33 months). The regimen was well tolerated. Eight of the sixteen patients (50%) developed grade 3 neutropenia following cycle 4 of chemotherapy, two of which required a 1 week treatment delay. There were no cases of grade 3 or 4 thrombocytopenia noted. There was no febrile neutropenia and no hospital admissions for toxicity. There were no observed grade 3 or 4 non-hematologic toxicities. With the median follow up of 15 months, we have not observed late toxicities. Given these favorable preliminary findings, supported by recently published data documenting efficacy of the "sandwich" multimodality technique in other difficult uterine malignancies (malignant mixed mullerian tumors), we propose to study this combination of chemotherapy and radiation prospectively. Our aim is to better evaluate patterns of recurrence and possible benefits in progression-free and overall survival.
Self-Hypnotic Relaxation Therapy During Invasive Procedures
Uterine NeoplasmsLeiomyomaThe purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of self-hypnotic relaxation on mental and physical distress during and after tumor treatment procedures.
Treatment Plan for an Individual Patient With Recurrent Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma (UPSC)...
Uterine CancerThis is an open-label treatment program following basic prescribing information for patients with recurrent UPSC (Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma) to provide access to everolimus and limited treatment alternatives.
Image-Guided Gynecologic Brachytherapy
Cervical CancerUterine Cancer2 moreStandard therapy for gynecologic cancers involves the use of brachytherapy, also called internal radiation therapy or implant radiation. The treatment being studied consists of standard brachytherapy with the additional use of MRI to guide the insertion of radioactive applicators. The purpose of the study is to find out whether MRI-guided brachytherapy is practical and beneficial when compared to the standard CT-guided brachytherapy placement. The investigators are hoping that this MRI procedure will decrease the risk of giving too high a radiation dose to the bladder or bowel.
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Quality of Life in Uterine Cancer Survivors
Endometrial CarcinomaMalignant Uterine Neoplasm2 moreThis trial studies pelvic floor dysfunction and quality of life in uterine cancer survivors. Using questionnaires may help researchers learn more about the sexual function and quality of life in uterine cancer survivors.
Effectiveness of an Individualized Symptom Education Program (ISEP)
Uterine CancerCervical Cancer2 moreThe purpose of this study is to examine whether an Individualized Symptom Education Program (ISEP) is helpful to women to manage their symptoms when they are receiving radiation therapy for gynecological cancer. It is expected that women who participate in the ISEP program will be better able to manage their symptoms and exprience less distress than women who receive usual care.
Adjuvant Radiation Therapy With Ifosfamide in Patients With Mixed Mesodermal Tumors of the Uterus...
Uterine CancerThe optimal sequence and /or modality for adjuvant therapy in the management of Mixed Mesodermal Tumors (MMT) clearly remains to be established. The rationale for the protocol is to "sandwich" pelvic radiation with chemotherapy to decrease distant metastasis. The proposed study will sandwich radiation between the two most active chemotherapeutic agents for MMT identified to date (ifosfamide/cisplatin). By doing so, we attempt to decrease both local and distant recurrence, which may translate into an improved progression free interval and possibly even extend survival.
