Liver CirrhosisEsophageal and Gastric Varices

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety of early enteral nutrition on endoscopic therapy of esophagogastric varices in Liver Cirrhosis ,and to assess the impact of different eating times on patients, so as to determine the best time for patients to obtain nutrition after surgery.

Long Term Study of 3 Radiofrequency Devices

Varicose Veins of Lower Limb

To establish which of the radiofrequency venous ablation modalities studied in the original 3RF study (Venefit (Closurefast), vs. Radiofrequency induced Thermal Therapy vs. Endovenous Radiofrequency) is most effective in relieving patients' symptoms and signs from varicose veins disease, and in maintaining absence of reflux in the treated vein segment (of the great saphenous vein (GSV)) 5 years following surgery.

MCCE in Assessing Efficacy of Gastro-oesophageal Varices

Gastroesophageal Varices

This study proposed for the first time the use of MCE to evaluate the efficacy of the treatment of gastroesophageal varices, and compared the examination results with the gold standard to explore whether MCE could replace the electronic gastroscopy as the preferred non-invasive evaluation method for the treatment of gastroesophageal varices.

Follow-up of Glypressin (Terlipressin) Clinical Efficacy in the Treatment of Bleeding Oesophageal...

Gastrointestinal BleedingOesophageal Varices

Terlipressin is an effective and safe treatment for bleeding caused by rupture of oesophageal varices, which are life-threatening complications of liver cirrhosis. Oesophageal varices are abnormal dilatation of veins occurring in the lower oesophagus, which can develop in patients with cirrhosis. Bleeding caused by rupture of these varices is a life-threatening complication with mortality between 20-50%. Such bleeding can be treated with drug therapy and/or endoscopic; endoscopic therapy consists of a flexible tube equipped with a camera at the terminal end, allowing for visualizing and treating the oesophageal varices. In this study, investigators will evaluate the safety and efficacy of terlipressin - Glypressin 1 mg, powder and solvent for solution for injection. The non-interventional observational study "Follow-up of Glypressin (terlipressin) clinical efficacy in the treatment of bleeding oesophageal varices" aims to demonstrate that administration of Glypressin (terlipressin 1 mg) controls the bleeding in such patients.

Effects of Somatostatin on Post-endoscopic Portal Hemodynamic in Cirrhotic Patients With Esophageal...

Esophageal Varices Secondary to Cirrhosis of Liver

The main complications of cirrhosis are ascites, esophageal varices and hepatic encephalopathy. About 30% to 70% patients with cirrhosis occur esophageal varices, and the most common complication is ascites. Somatostatin is used to treat esophageal for a long time, otherwise it could aslo prevent ascites. In the study, the investigators explore the effects of somatostatin on post-endoscopic portal hemodynamic in cirrhotic patients with esophageal gastric varices.

Hypnoanalgesia in Surgical and Endovenous Treatment of Varicosis

Varicose Veins

Endoveinous treatment of saphenous varicoses and phlebectomia of tributary veins are commonly performed under local anesthesia. Hypnoanalgesia might reduce perinterventional pain. This study has the aim to test the effectiveness of hypnoanalgesia, performed by a specialised nurse, for peri-and post-procedual pain reduction.

A Study of Risk Factors for Venous Ulceration in Patients With Varicose Veins of Lower Extremities....

Venous Ulceration

Varicose veins of lower extremities can lead to adverse consequences such as ulceration and hemorrhage, which seriously endangering the physical and mental health and quality of life for patients. The aim of this study is to explore the potential risk factors of venous ulceration in patients with varicose veins of lower extremities based on a case-control study, and to provide a reference for personalized treatment.

Management of a Giant Lymphocele Following Varicose Vein Surgery - A Case Report

LymphoceleVaricose Veins

A 48-year-old female presented to the plastic surgery outpatient department (OPD) with a history of painful, progressive swelling of the right groin and medial aspect of the right thigh for 4 months. After investigation, it was diagnosed as a giant lymphocele. A pedicled gracilis muscle flap was used to reconstruct and obliterate the cavity. There was no recurrence of the swelling. : Lymphocele is a common complication after extensive vascular surgeries. In the unfortunately case of its development, prompt intervention must be done to prevent its growth and ensuing complications.

Estrogen Receptors and Chronic Venous Disease

Estrogen ExcessVaricose Veins

Chronic Venous Disease (CVD) is a very common problem affecting western adult population. To date the pathophysiology of CVD development encloses several theories such as the role of extracellular matrix (ECM) components alterations, the alteration of Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) and other related molecules, the endothelial dysfunction, and several genetic factors but none of these could properly explain its genesis. Estrogen Receptors may be involved in CDV pathogenesis. Endogenous estrogens are important regulators of vascular homeostasis and they act mainly via three different ERs which are expressed in the cardiovascular system: ERα, ERβ, and a G protein-coupled estrogen receptor termed GPER. of this study is to explore the expression of estrogen receptors in vessel wall of varicose veins through the entire clinical spectrum of CVD.
