Clinical Frailty Scale Validation in Patients Scheduled for Vascular Surgery

Vascular Diseases

Major vascular operations put the body under stress. We are trying to find out if the general health of a patient and the stress resulting from surgery can lead to the development of complications after surgery as well as increase the length of time spent in hospital. There is evidence to suggest that patients who are frail have a higher risk of developing complications after major surgery. Our aim is to ask you simple questions about your physical ability to perform daily life activities, assess your general health condition and ask you to do simple tasks such as drawing a clock or walking for a short distance to assess your speed of walking. Our main aim is to identify a tool that will assist us to identify patients who are at risk of frailty.

Shnaghai Shengkang Medical Center

Vascular Diseases

The process of population aging that is occurring in developed societies represents a major challenge for the health system. The aim of this study is to analyze factors that have an influence on early vascular aging (EVA), estimated by carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cf-PWV) and Cardio Ankle Vascular Index (CAVI), and to determine differences by gender in a Chinese population.

Chinese Arteriosclerosis Series Evaluation-She Minority Study

Vascular Disease

Traditionally, people have always been focusing on vascular injuries by angiography. Recent years, the investigators have further known that the pathological foundation of various cardiovascular complications not only lies in the vascular lumen, but also vessel wall. Therefore, now it is possible to detect and prevent vascular disease early. There are many influencing factors on functional and structural damages of vessels, including genetic and environmental factors. The investigators have done many researches on populations of the Han nationality, which has the largest population in China. Thus, the investigators further wonder whether the function and structure of vessel differ in the She Minority of a remote southern region in China. The investigators will enroll 150 subjects of two ethnic groups respectively in the local population, namely She Minority and Han nationality. All subjects enrolled into the study will complete a questionnaire survey of the general situation and conduct vascular related examinations, including evaluation of arterial stiffness, arterial elasticity indexes, subclinical carotid atherosclerosis and biomarkers. The investigators will analysis vascular differences between the two populations and provide a theoretical basis for the specific strategies of prevention and treatment.

Arterial Calcification in the Diabetes

Diabetic Vascular DiseasesArteriosclerosis Obliterans1 more

The blood concentration of the protein RANKL could be predictive of the calcification of the leg arteries, which is a major complication occurring during diabetes. The objective of the DIACART study is to show that blood RANKL concentration predict the progression of calcification of the leg arteries in diabetic patients, independently of other cardiovascular risk factors.

Vascular and Periodontal Disease - Microbial, Genetic and Histological Causalities

PeriodontitisVascular Disease

The purpose of this study is to analyze genetic polymorphisms in genes encoding pro-inflammatory cytokines, and study the genetic predisposition to chronic periodontitis (CP) in combination with atherosclerotic cardiovascular (ACD) and aneurysmal diseases. The investigators will also try to identify oral bacteria in atherosclerotic plaques and aneurysmal walls and thrombus. Histological analyses of atherosclerotic plaques and aneurysmal wall will be performed.

Evaluation of the Clinical Significance of Fluorescence Videoangiography With Indocyanine-Green...

Peripheral Vascular DiseaseMicrocirculation1 more

The aim of the study is to compare the diagnostic value of this non-invasive vascular imaging tool with the established vascular diagnostic methods for PAD in order to get prognostic data. A higher sensitivity of Fluorescence angiography in order to recognize progression of critical limb ischemia could lead to earlier therapeutic interventions and thereby increase limb salvage. A diagnostic gap would be closed.
