Thermal Energy in the Treatment of Cervicogenic Dizziness

DizzinessCervical Pain

Cervical pain contributes to postural deviations and imbalance. Nanotechnology may be used for the treatment of neck pain by fixing to the skin small rounds silicone patches containing double spiral carbon nanotubes arranged in the form of a coil (Helical), which would then relieve dizziness caused by muscular contraction.

Effects of Physical Treatment on Postural Stability in Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)...

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo

The propose of this study is to compare two methods of physical treatment for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, by evaluating treatment effects on postural stability. The trail design is a double blinded randomized controlled trail, with each patient going through three evaluations: before treatment, 1 week after treatment and 60 days after treatment.

Telemedical Examination of a Three-Component Oculomotor Testing Battery

StrokeVertigo1 more

The study investigates the feasibility and safety of the telemedical implementation of three diagnostic oculomotor tests using a video-oculography device and an extended teleconferencing system. The testing battery comprises Halmagyi's head impulse test, test for nystagmus and test of skew (vertical misalignment) known as the HINTS protocol. Previously published data have shown high sensitivity and specificity of the protocol for the discrimination of central and peripheral causes of acute vestibular syndrome. In this study the three tests will be executed on 30 healthy subjects using video goggles (EyeSeeCam, Interacoustics GmbH, Germany) connected to a mobile wireless-workstation for bidirectional audiovisual communication in a clinical environment (MEYTEC GmbH, Germany). A newly developed remote control and video conferencing solution allows the execution and evaluation of the HINTS protocol in a telemedical setup. The examination is guided by a remote physician using the help of a trained assistant attending to the subject. Corresponding clinical bedside tests will be executed for comparison. Primary endpoint is feasibility of the three diagnostic tests in a telemedical setting. Safety as well as accuracy of the telemedical versus bedside examination will be analyzed as secondary outcome measures. Aim of the study is to improve diagnostic accuracy for patients with acute vestibular syndrome in remote areas where specialists are rare.

Vertistop® D and Vertistop® L in Preventing Recurrence of High-recurrence BPPV

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)

Randomized, 3-arm controlled clinical study, to evaluate the effectiveness of supplementation with Vertistop® D (food supplement containing alpha-lipoic acid at modified release, Carnosine and Zinc, Vitamin D and Vitamins B) and Vertistop® L (food supplement containing fast releasing alpha-lipoic acid, Carnosine, Zinc and Curcumin) in preventing recurrence of high-recurrence BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)

Evaluation of the Efficacy of Vertistop® D and Vertistop® L in the Prevention of BPPV Recurrence...

Benign Paroxysmal Positional VertigoVitamin D1 more

The study involves the evaluation of 3 groups of subjects (3-arm study). Patients diagnosed with BPPV and "sufficient" serum concentrations of Vitamin D (>30 ng/mL, >75 nmol/L) at baseline may be treated with 2 tablets per day (morning and evening) of Vertistop® L ( Alpha-lipoic acid, carnosine, zinc and curcumin) or untreated, on the basis of the randomization criterion to which they will be assigned. Patients with Vitamin D "deficiency" (<20 ng/mL, <50 nmol/L) or Vitamin D "insufficient" (20-30 ng/mL, 50-75 nmol/L) at baseline, or subsequent follow-up, they will be treated for 2 months with Vertistop® D (alpha-lipoic acid, carnosine and zinc, vitamin D3 and vitamins of the B complex) taking 1 tablet a day (before meals). The main purpose of the study is to evaluate, over a period of 6 months, the efficacy of Vertistop® D and Vertistop® L supplementation in preventing recurrences of BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), in relation to blood levels of Vitamin D.

Study of Oculomotor Dysfunction Leading to Children Vertigo

VertigoHeadache3 more

The eye movements of vergence allow binocular vision whatever the viewing distance or the body movements are and the perception of depth. Vergence dysfunction can lead to erroneous visual sensation of movements. In our daily life using screens (computer, game boys..) is increasing and this approach heavily the ocular vergence and can lead to symptoms if oculomotor and accommodative systems are dysfunctioning (Ped. Neurology 2000). Not knowing this pathology lead to inappropriate and expensive prescription CT scan or NMR. To evaluate the vergence performances just evaluation in static condition is currently available in ophthalmology departments. The CNRS laboratory (IRIS, FRE 3154) adapted a technic of eye movement recording to study ocular vergence in dynamic condition.
