Early Risk Stratification of Patient Hospitalized for SARS-CoV2 Infection: Critical COVID-19 France...

Infection ViralInfection2 more

The COVID-19 pandemic of SARS CoV2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, COVID-19) infection, which is currently evolving in France, raises many questions about the clinical and biological profile of infected hospitalized patients. If certain biological factors like troponin, BNP (Brain Natriuretic Peptid), or clinical factors like cardiovascular history or oncological history are associated with a worse prognosis, available data comes from studies in Asia for the majority, or including a limited number of patients. Patient stratification remains a major issue for patient sorting and early referral of patients.

COVID-19 - SARS-CoV-2 Community Contamination in Children and Adults (Dyn3CEA_Nosocor)

Infection Viral

Unlike other respiratory viruses such as influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) where the child is the essential reservoir and central vector of intrafamilial contamination, the child is likely to be a small player in the transmission of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus 2 (SRAS-CoV2) infection. This study aims to describe the age category of the first contact, within 14 days before the appearance of the first symptoms of the index case in order to describe the age categories of this first contaminant, globally, in the group of children and finally in the group of adults. This work is intended to provide food for discussion and to justify the distancing and containment measures imposed on children when their isolation has a deleterious impact that has now been established for some children.

Does Hepatitis C Management Protect Egyptian Population Against Severe Corona Virus Disease-2019?...

Corona Virus InfectionHepatitis

Modulation of the renin angiotensin system by the chronic hepatitis C virus treatment either by (Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir), (Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir plus Ribavirin), or (Ribavirin and Interferon) protocols could give an explanation for the low incidence of COVID-19 among Egyptian population. Adding it may play a role in COVID 19 prophylaxis.

The Epidemiology, Management, and the Associated Burden of Related Conditions in Alopecia Areata...

Alopecia AreataDepressive Episode34 more

This study series consists of four related studies and aims to explore and describe many important elements of alopecia areata over three key areas: (1) the current epidemiology of alopecia areata, (2) the prevalence and incidence of psychiatric co-morbidities in people with alopecia areata, (3) the prevalence and incidence of autoimmune and atopic conditions in people with alopecia areata, and (4) the incidence of common infections in people with alopecia areata.

Using Breath Metabolites to Determine Specific Virus Infection in Asthmatic Patients

Upper Respiratory Tract InfectionsAsthma1 more

Respiratory virus infections cause a majority of asthma exacerbations in the fall to spring months. Current diagnostic platforms for respiratory viruses have limitations including cost, availability, and invasiveness. The use of noninvasive breath collection to analyze breath metabolites may be used to differentiate virus-infected asthmatics from other causes of acute asthma exacerbations.

Involvement of Viral Infections in the Pathogenesis of Chronic Lymphocytic Thyroiditis

Autoimmune DiseasesChronic Lymphocytic Thyroiditis

Autoimmune diseases represent a heterogeneous group of pathologies whose etiopathogenic mechanisms are most often unknown. Autoimmune diseases are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in young women and autoimmune thyroid diseases are the most common. Viral infections are the main environmental factors suspected of triggering autoimmune diseases. Several viruses are certainly involved, all of which are possibly capable of triggering an autoimmune response. However, the precise identification of the viruses involved remains to be established. It has been shown for the first time by the 2005 PHRC that enteroviral RNA is present in perioperative specimens of thyroid tissue. However, this case-control study did not show any difference between the thyroid group and the group other thyroid pathologies It has been recently published that Parvovirus is possibly involved in thyroiditis: the parvoviral genome is present in the thyroid tissue of Hashimoto thyroiditis operated and more precisely is present within the thyrocytes itself.

Persistence of Zika Virus in Semen After Acute Infection

Zika VirusZika Virus Disease2 more

This is a prospective observational laboratory evaluation of the persistence rate of zika virus (ZIKV) infection in semen by real-time Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), and assessment of ZIKV replication-competence in semen by isolation of ZIKV. Evaluation of the persistence of ZIKV and its replication-competence in semen samples will increase the understanding of the risk of sexual transmission of ZIKV infection in the post-viremic phase in non-epidemic settings.

Cytopenias in Hospitalized Patients of Corona Virus Infection(COVID-19) During First and Other Waves...

Corona Virus Infection

Demographic, Clinical and laboratory data as well as outcome of total 202 COVID-19 patients who were Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) positive and admitted in Fatima memorial Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan, was collected during first and other waves. Data of First wave is from May 2020 to July 2020, second wave from early November to Mid December 2020 and third wave from Mid march to June 2021. Investigator analyzed the data on basis of Systemic immune inflammatory index (SII) as well hematological parameters of First Wave were compared to other waves of COVID-19.
