The Tolerance of HIV-Infected Patients With Herpes Group Virus Infections to Oral Doses of FIAU...

Herpes SimplexHIV Infections1 more

To determine the tolerance of HIV-infected patients to TID oral doses of FIAU syrup at 4 different dose levels. To determine the peak and trough blood levels of FIAU and its metabolites during two weeks of oral dosing with FIAU. The pyrimidine nucleoside analog FIAC and its primary deaminated uracil metabolite FIAU are highly and specifically active compounds in vitro against several herpes group viruses, particularly herpes simplex virus (HSV) types 1 and 2, varicella zoster (VZV), and cytomegalovirus (CMV), as well as hepatitis B virus (HBV). Since FIAU is the primary metabolite of FIAC and the administration of FIAU simplifies the metabolism of FIAC, it is anticipated from clinical studies of FIAC that FIAU will be tolerated at least as well as FIAC. A single-dose, pharmacokinetic (blood level) study showed that FIAC, when taken orally, is readily absorbed into the bloodstream, and most of it is converted to FIAU. Daily oral doses are expected to provide concentrations of FIAU exceeding the in vitro minimum inhibitory concentration for nearly all the herpes group viruses.

Efficacy and Safety of Enisamium Iodide for the Treatment of Acute Respiratory Viral Infections,...

Acute Respiratory Viral InfectionsHuman Influenza

This randomized, single blind clinical study was conducted to investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of the drug Amizon (enisamium iodide), in comparison with placebo for the treatment of patients with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), including influenza. Enisamium iodide is an antiviral small molecule. Adult patients were enrolled and randomised into 2 groups. On the first day of the onset of symptoms of ARVI, one group of patients took Amizon tablets (active ingredient enisamium iodide) for 7 days; the other group of patients took matching placebo tablets for 7 days. Examination and observation of all participants was done for up to 14 days after the first intake of the study drug. The effect of treatment was assessed by subjective reporting of the symptoms of ARVI and influenza, using a predefined symptom scale score system. Objective assessment was performed by measuring vitals signs, laboratory tests (including blood and urine assessment), as well as evaluating the immune status (including measuring the relative concentration of interferon and immunoglobulins).

Comparison of Tocilizumab Plus Dexamethasone vs. Dexamethasone for Patients With Covid-19

Coronavirus InfectionSARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome)6 more

The overall objective of the study is to determine the therapeutic effect and tolerance of Tocilizumab combined with Dexamethasone in patients with moderate, severe pneumonia or critical pneumonia associated with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Tocilizumab (TCZ) is an anti-human IL-6 receptor monoclonal antibody that inhibits signal transduction by binding sIL-6R and mIL-6R. The study has a cohort multiple Randomized Controlled Trials (cmRCT) design. Randomization will occur prior to offering Dexamethasone alone or Dexamethasone +Tocilizumab administration to patients enrolled in the CORIMUNO-19 cohort. Tocilizumab will be administered to consenting adult patients hospitalized with COVID-19 either diagnosed with moderate or severe pneumonia requiring no mechanical ventilation or critical pneumonia requiring mechanical ventilation. Patients who will chose not to receive Tocilizumab will receive standard of cares. Outcomes of Tocilizumab-treated patients will be compared with outcomes of standard of care (including Dexamethasone) treated patients

Personalised Immunotherapy for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Associated With Organ Dysfunction

COVID-19Virus Diseases2 more

Our aim is to conduct one trial of personalized immunotherapy in patients with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) associated with organ dysfunction and with laboratory findings of macrophage activation syndrome or immune dysregulation. These patients will be selected by the use of a panel of biomarkers and laboratory findings and they will be allocated to immunotherapy treatment according to their needs.

A Phase 1 Double-Blinded Study for Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics, and Antiviral Activity...

Hepatitis BChronic

This is a double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled study of safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and antiviral activity in both healthy volunteers and volunteers with chronic hepatitis B virus infection. Healthy volunteers will be administered either a single oral dose or multiple oral doses of ATI-2173 and assessed for safety and tolerability including blood tests to show how the body metabolizes and eliminates the investigational drug. Volunteers with a diagnosis of chronic hepatitis B virus infection will be administered multiple oral doses of ATI-2173 and assessed for safety and tolerability including blood tests to show how the body metabolizes and eliminates the investigational drug as well as how the drug effects the virus infection.

InfluenzaRespiratory Viral Infection

The main purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of XC221, tablets, at a dose of 200 mg/day compared to placebo in patients with uncomplicated influenza or other acute respiratory viral infections (ARIs). An additional purpose of the study was to evaluate the safety of XC221, tablets, at a dose of 200 mg/day compared to placebo in patients with uncomplicated influenza or other ARIs.

Chronic Hepatitis B

This is a randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging Phase 1b study of the safety, PK, and antiviral activity of ABI-H3733 in treatment-naïve or off-treatment chronic Hepatitis B virus (cHBV) subjects that are Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) positive or negative. The study will enroll up to 5 sequential cohorts of 10 subjects each, for a total of up to 50 subjects, randomized 8:2 to receive ABI-H3733 or placebo.
