Impact of the Use of FeelWell™ Compression Garment on Individuals With a BMI ≥35
ObesityObesity12 moreTo assess the effect of wearing a custom-fitted, FDA-registered, Class I device, compression garment (Obesinov, S.A.R.L.) by an individual with a BMI ≥ 35 on his/her day-to-day quality of life over a period of one year. Various measures of quality of life will be taken, including assessing an individual's level of pain, mood, self-stigma and comfort with the use of a compression garment. Additionally, to assess the impact of the compression garment on activity, strength, posture and movement of an individual with a BMI ≥35 over the period of one year.

Acupuncture in the Regulation of Dai Meridian for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Patients With Abdominal...
Polycystic Ovarian SyndromeObesity1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine whether the use of electroacupuncture to dredge and regulate Dai Meridian combined with lifestyle modification are more effective than lifestyle modification only in the treatment of anovulation and hyperandrogenism due to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) with abdominal obesity. Two thirds of participants will receive electroacupuncture and lifestyle modification in combination, while the other one third will receive lifestyle modification only.

Abdominal ObesityMetabolic Syndrome5 moreMonocentric unblinded two parallel-group randomized controlled trial to evaluate the effect of diet with or without Nordic Walking on weight loss, physical performance and cardiovascular risk factors in overweight and obese population
Physical Exercise for Men With Andropause
Androgen DeficiencyDepressive Symptoms5 moreThe aim of this study is to analyze the impact of physical exercise through a protocol of concurrent training in the psychological, physical, hormonal and sexual aspects in middle aged men with androgen deficiency in the aging male (ADAM). The study design with randomized clinical trial, comprising men in middle age (40 to 59 years) with ADAM, should be divided into two groups: 1) Control group (CG); 2) Experimental group (EG). Information related to sociodemographic and clinical profile will be collected; Psychological aspects (depressive and anxiety symptoms - Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale ; stress - Perceived Stress Scale); Physical acpects (IMC; Percentage of body fat; Abdominal obesity - waist circumference in cm; Muscle strength - Biodex System 4 PRO isokinetic dynamometer; cardiorespiratory Fitness - Cycle-ergometer - CASE ECG Stress Testing System, General Electric Medical Systems, Milwaukee, WI); Hormonal aspects (total and free testosterone - blood collection); Sexual Aspect (Sexual satisfaction- International Index of Erectile Function); DAEM (scale of symptoms of aging). Apply a physical exercise protocol using the functional training method over a six-month period. All information will be collected before and after the intervention period. For statistical analysis, use the SPSS statistical package, version 20.0. (Kolmogorov-Smirnov or Shapiro-Wilk test) for the selection of statistical tests.
Effects of Remote-based Resistance Training on Cardiometabolic Risk Factors, Cognitive Function,...
DementiaAlzheimer Disease19 moreThe investigators aim to study the effects of a 24-week remote-based resistance exercise training program on cardiovascular disease risk factors, cognitive function, and quality of life in older adults living with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's Disease and/or a related dementia. Data for this study will be collected at the beginning, middle, and end of the resistance training program. Participants of this study will receive a baseline health-fitness assessment at the beginning of the study. Measurements of resting blood pressure, fasting blood glucose and lipids, waist and hip circumferences, height and weight, cognitive function and quality of life will be collected at the health-fitness assessment. Participants will then receive supervised remote-based resistance exercise training with Therabands, 3 days per week for 12 weeks before receiving a second 12-week health-fitness assessment in the middle of the intervention. Participants will then receive 12 additional weeks of supervised remote-based resistance exercise training with Therabands, 3 days per week for 12 weeks before receiving a third 24-week health fitness assessment at the end of the study.
Electroacupuncture Combined With Umbilical Moxibustion on Abdominal Obesity of Yang Deficiency
ObesityAbdominalObesity is a chronic metabolic disease that seriously harms human health, while abdominal obesity is more closely related to diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and tumors, and has a higher risk. In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine therapy has become the choice of more and more obese patients, and acupuncture therapy is also known as a green therapy for weight loss due to its safety and no side effects. Through the analysis of the TCM physique types of obese people, it is found that Yang-deficiency constitution is one of the TCM constitution types closely related to simple obesity. This topic is based on the constitution theory of traditional Chinese medicine, and on the basis of the earlier research that has clarified the weight loss and lipid-lowering effects of electroacupuncture, it further aims at the type of yang deficiency in obese people, and clarifies the regulation and improvement of umbilical moxibustion on the constitution of obese patients with yang deficiency. In this project, patients with abdominal obesity with yang-deficiency constitution were divided into electro-acupuncture + umbilical moxibustion group and electro-acupuncture group to observe and analyze the advantages and effects of electro-acupuncture combined with umbilical moxibustion on the improvement of obesity symptoms and physical fitness of patients. The ELISA method was used to determine the metabolic indexes related to yang-deficiency constitution, to further clarify the material basis of electroacupuncture combined with umbilical moxibustion to improve the yang-deficiency constitution of patients with abdominal obesity, and to provide scientific and reasonable theoretical guidance for clinical treatment.
ORAL ANTIDIABETICS EFFECT ON VISCERAL FAT
Abdominal ObesityType 2 DiabetesWeight control is an essential part of treatment for type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. Weight loss is associated with decreased haemoglobin A1c (A1c) levels. In particular, visceral fat is accompanied by more alterations in glucose and lipid metabolism. Quantification of visceral fat with bioimpedance (BIA) is closely related to measurement with computed axial tomography. Different available oral antidiabetics cause weight loss and total body fat (biguanides, DPP-4 inhibitors and SGLT-2 inhibitors), but it has only been shown that SLGT2 inhibitors decrease visceral fat. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine whether there is a difference in the amount of visceral fat measured with BIA in T2D patients between three oral antidiabetic regimens after twelve weeks of treatment, to compare the effect on visceral fat between metformin, DPP4 inhibitors and SGLT2 inhibitors.

Influence of FreeO2 on Percentage of Time Within Oxygen Saturation Target Using Noninvasive Ventilation...
COPD ExacerbationOxygen Toxicity2 moreThe main objective is to evaluate the FreeO2 device combined with noninvasive respiratory support technique for COPD patients and postoperative bariatric surgery patients. The main hypothesis is that FreeO2 device for oxygen therapy associated with NIV or nasal high flow oxygen therapy (NHFOT) allows to reach better oxygenation and avoid hypoxemia and hyperoxia.
