Vitamin D Supplementation Study
Colorectal CancerVitamin D DeficiencyPatients with colorectal cancer will be recruited to undergo vitamin D supplementation in the peri-operative period. Vitamin D levels (25OHD) will be measured to assess response to supplementation.
High-Dose Vitamin D3 Supplementation in the Treatment of Human Immune Deficiency Virus Patients...
HIV-1-infectionHypovitaminosis DHigh-Dose Vitamin D3 in the Treatment of Human Immune Deficiency Virus Patients, A Double-Blind Randomized Control Trial Human immunodeficiency virus is a key challenge for global health. Vitamin D deficiency is common in people living with HIV infection. Antiretroviral therapy may create unique risk factors for vitamin D insufficiency, including alterations of vitamin D metabolism by ART.
Vitamin D for Muscle Metabolic Function in Cancer Cachexia
Cancer CachexiaVitamin D DeficiencyThe proposed study is aimed at examining mitochondrial function as a potential target of action of vitamin D on muscle metabolism, size, and strength in preventing the progression of cachexia. This is the first clinical trial designed to understand the effects of vitamin D on muscle metabolic dynamics driving dysfunction in cachectic muscle. Our preliminary data suggest that vitamin D promotes lipid partitioning and muscle metabolic function, which the investigators hypothesize, will mitigate cachexia via improved muscle health and quality that translates into reduced fatigue, and improved patient resilience to multimodal cancer therapy.
Vitamin D Raising and Maintaining Blood Serum 25(OH)D3 Levels
Vitamin D DeficiencyAnalyze the amount of change in blood serum Vitamin D levels in patients of 3 different dosing groups and how their levels change over a 3 month period of time.
Vitamin D and Microbiota in Cystic Fibrosis
Vitamin D DeficiencyCystic FibrosisThe objective of this study is to assess the effects of a high-dose vitamin D3 on the composition of gut and lung microbiota in adolescents and adults with cystic fibrosis who are vitamin D deficient.
Drug Metabolizing Enzyme and Transporter Function in Chronic Kidney Disease
Chronic Kidney DiseasesDeficiency1 moreThis study investigates the effect of vitamin D deficiency on drug metabolism and transport in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and in healthy controls. The central hypothesis is that vitamin D concentrations independently affect metabolism and transport function in CKD patients. An over-arching goal of this proposal is to make drug therapies safer and more effective to reduce the significant morbidity and mortality in patients with CKD.
The Role of Vitamin D in Female Reproductive Tract Immunity
Vitamin D DeficiencyThe purpose of this study is to assess the impact of approximately 8 weeks of Vitamin D (VitD) and calcium supplementation, using daily versus weekly supplementation regimens, on female reproductive tract immunity.
Effect of an Inhibitor of Cholesterol Absorption on Vitamin D Levels
Vitamin D DeficiencyDouble-blind randomized controlled trial to evaluate the serum levels of 25(OH)D after a single oral dose of cholecalciferol 50,000 IU plus ezetimibe or placebo. Differences between the serum levels of 25(OH)D in response to cholecalciferol plus ezetimibe compared to cholecalciferol plus placebo.
Effect of Vitamin D3 and Omega-3FA on Leptin and HbA1C With Vitamin D Deficiency
Vitamin D DeficiencyThe Combined effect of Vitamin D3 and Omega-3 supplements on serum leptin and Glycated hemoglobin (Hb A1C) levels in Jordanian people with vitamin D deficiency.
Vitamin D Treatment of Diabetic Patients With Foot Ulcers
Diabetic Foot UlcersVitamin D DeficiencyThe purpose of this study, is to determine whether daily supplements of vitamin D improves wound healing in diabetic patients with chronic foot ulcers.
