RAD001(Everolimus) is a drug that works by preventing cells in the body from growing and dividing. Information from basic and Phase I clinical research studies suggests that RAD001 also may help to prevent tumor growth in people with relapsed or refractory lymphoma.

Giving low doses of chemotherapy and total-body irradiation before a donor peripheral blood stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells or abnormal cells. It may also stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer or abnormal cells (graft-versus-tumor effect)

Monoclonal antibodies, such as rituximab, can block cancer growth in different ways. Some block the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread. Others find cancer cells and help kill them or carry cancer-killing substances to them. Giving fusion protein cytokine therapy together with rituximab may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of fusion protein cytokine therapy when given after rituximab in treating patients with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

LymphomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as chlorambucil and fludarabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether chlorambucil is more effective than fludarabine in treating Waldenström macroglobulinemia, splenic lymphoma, or lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying chlorambucil to see how well it works compared with fludarabine as first-line therapy in treating patients with previously untreated Waldenström macroglobulinemia, splenic lymphoma, or lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma.
