The Impact of Oligo-Fucoidan in Cancer Cachexia and Sarcopenia

Cachexia

Fucoidan also ameliorates tumour and chemotherapy-induced muscle atrophy and -related cachectic symptoms in vivo and in vitro. To evaluate the effect of fucoidan in cancer cachexia or sarcopenia in cancer patients.

A Dose Escalation Study of AV-380 in Metastatic Cancer Patients With Cachexia

Cachexia

This open label ascending dose study is designed to evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD), and immunogenicity of AV-380 in metastatic cancer patients with Cachexia. AV-380 is an immunoglobulin (Ig) G1 monoclonal antibody (mAb) intended to bind circulating human growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15), a cytokine involved in cancer-induced cachexia.

MS-20 on Gut Microbiota and Risk/Severity of Cachexia in Pancreatic Cancer Patients

Pancreatic CancerCachexia1 more

Cachexia has been recognized as a direct cause of reduced quality of life complicating in cancer patients. Patients with pancreatic cancer have the highest prevalence in developing severe degrees of cachexia. Providing supportive therapies for these patients may provide a lot of benefit on overarching quality of life and improve overall survival. MS-20 is indicated for treating the symptom of fatigue and loss of appetite induced by chemotherapy in cancer patients. According to the result from pre-clinical study, MS-20 may have potential to attenuate or suppress the resistant phenomena of chemotherapy via alternating gut microbiota profile. In this study, MS-20 effects on on gut microbiota and risk/severity of cachexia will be analyzed in pancreatic cancer patients who under combination therapy with chemotherapy and MS-20.

Vitamin D and Pre Cachexia and Cancer Cachexia in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer

Epithelial Ovarian Cancer

Several ex vivo, in vitro, and observational studies on various type of cancer shown positive effect of vitamin D. Vitamin D has widely known as immunomodulator property in various diseases. However, it remains limited studies on immunity and cachexia in cancer, particularly in ovarian cancer. This study will investigate the effect of vitamin D in immune response during chemotherapy among epithelial ovarian cancer patients who have a low level of vitamin D and cachexia

Physical Training for Elderly Cancer Patients With Cachexia

Geriatric AssessmentCancer1 more

The goal of the clinical trial is to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of physical training for elderly cancer patients at risk of cancer cachexia. The main questions it aims to answer are: Whether a physical training program is feasible in elderly cancer patients with cachexia? What is the efficacy of a physical training program in reducing the severity of cancer cachexia in elderly cancer patients? Participants will receive a 12-week supervised patient-tailored intensity-modulated physical training and being assessed for the severity of cancer cachexia before and after the training.

High-protein Quantity and Quality RUTF in Improving Linear Growth Among Children With Severe Wasting...

Severe WastingSevere Acute Malnutrition

This is a proof-of-concept trial that aims to compare the efficacy of an 8-week treatment with higher-protein-Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) with standard RUTF in improving levels of markers of growths, height, nutritional recovery, and lean mass deposition among children with severe wasting. The study will also assess the safety and acceptability of the high-protein RUTF in comparison to the standard RUTF. The study will be conducted at four outpatient therapeutic programs in the Blantyre district of Malawi.

Study of a Dialysate Without Acetate on Protein Energy Wasting Syndrome in Chronic Hemodialysis...

End Stage Renal DiseaseHemodialysis

This work aims to study the effect of an acetate-free dialysate on protein-energy wasting syndrome in patients with chronic hemodialysis renal failure, in comparison to a conventional dialysate with acetate. The hypothesis is that a dialysate without acetate would improve patients nutritional status

Ruxolitinib for Cancer Cachexia

Stage IV Non-small Cell Lung CancerCachexia

To assess toxicity with use of Ruxolitinib in NSCLC cachexia patients; to associate levels of JAK/STAT signaling in blood, adipose, and muscle pre- and post-ruxolitinib treatment with changes in cachexia and anorexia.

Self-Management Support for Lung Cancer Patients With Cachexia

Cachexia-Anorexia Syndrome

The goal of this randomized clinical trial is to test the efficacy of self-management support based exercise combine nutrition intervention in lung cancer patient with cancer cachexia anorexia syndrome . The main question it aims to answer is: • Would exercise combine nutrition intervention improve lung cancer patients' nutrition status? Participants will make custom exercise plan and eat enough protein food after self-management support based education. And there is a comparison group: Researchers will compare comparison group to see nutrition status who receive routine health education.
