Assessing the Efficacy of an Acceptance-Based Digital Intervention for Veterans With Chronic Pain...
Chronic PainPain has been identified as among the most frequent presenting medical complaints, in particular within primary care for Veterans. There are few areas of daily living and functioning that pain intensity does not impact, with reported pain intensity related to difficulties in social situations and changes in activities of daily life, sleep, and appetite. Therapeutic interventions such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Chronic Pain (ACT-CP) that target issues related to the cognitions and emotional concerns related to chronic pain have been well-documented for reduction of associated psychiatric symptoms and modest pain relief. At the same time, online programming can improve the ability of pain psychoeducation programs and ACT-CP to reach patients. The proposed project will compare online Veteran ACT for Chronic Pain (VACT-CP) compared to another pain program, Online Pain School, to evaluate how they assist Veterans with chronic pain to improve their functioning, pain management, and quality of life.
CARES-Spine (Comprehensive Analgesic, Recovery, and Education Support for Spine Surgery) Trial
Chronic PainBack Pain2 moreThree-arm randomized controlled trial, of Motivational Interviewing and guided Opioid Tapering support (MI-Opioid Taper) and tizanidine vs. MI-Opioid Taper and placebo vs. enhanced usual care to promote postoperative opioid cessation and pain cessation and reduce the incidence of postoperative opioid misuse among patients undergoing spine surgery.
Pectoral Nerve Block Versus Paravertebral Block In The Incidence of Chronic Pain After Mastectomy:...
Paravertebral BlockPectoral Nerve Block2 moreChronic pain after Mastectomy is frequent and an important healthcare priority because of its effect on quality of life. Although the association between the severity of acute pain after surgery and the likelihood of chronic pain is known, their causal relationship has not been clarified. Mastectomy, frequently done for the management of breast cancer, is associated with significant acute postoperative pain and limited shoulder movement.
Observational Study of the Use of 8% Capsaicin Patch in Children 0 to 18 Years Old
Neuropathic PainChronic PainPatients aged less than 18-y with validated 8% capsaicin patch treatment in routine healthcare will be offered to participate the study. If they accept it as well as their parents, they will be included in the study . Medical data will be recorded and at home, the child or his family will collect pain assessment data. Tolerance will be monitored at home by phone call from investigational team every 24 hours until normalization. (Less than 24 hours for 75%, 100% to 72 hours on unpublished personal series.) Children will be assessed via scales at inclusion and 1-month, 3-month and 6-month.
Validation of the Pain Relief Measure
Chronic PainThe purpose of this study is to provide evidence for the empirical and clinical utility of a novel pain relief measure, the IPR, dimensions of which will be validated against the present gold standards for pain measurement.
Single-Session "Empowered Relief" Class for Marfan Syndrome and Related Conditions
Chronic PainMarfan Syndrome2 moreThe purpose of this study is to conduct a feasibility clinical trial by implementing a 1-session pain relief skills intervention (Empowered Relief; two hours total treatment time) for individuals with Marfan syndrome, Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Loeys-Dietz Syndrome, and related conditions.
Novel Stimulation Patterns to Improve the Effectiveness of Spinal Cord Stimulation
Chronic PainPain2 moreThe goal of this study is to compare pain outcomes achieved by spinal cord stimulation (SCS) using time varying stimulation patterns with pain outcomes achieved by current standard of care SCS.
Comfortability Workshop
Chronic PainThe Comfort Ability is a fun and interactive one-day (6 hour) program to help children and their parents or caregivers learn how to better manage chronic pain. The program introduces cognitive-behavioral and bio-behavioral pain management strategies to emphasize the mind-body connection and offers non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical strategies for improved pain management. Youth ages 11-18 with chronic or recurrent pain are eligible to sign up for Comfort Ability.
Long-Term Real-World Outcomes Study on Patients Implanted With a Neurostimulator
Chronic PainThe REALITY study is a prospective, post-market, non-randomized, multi-center, single-arm, open-label study intended to collect short- and long-term safety and effectiveness data on various populations implanted with Abbott's neurostimulation systems.
StimRouter Registry Clinical Protocol
Chronic PainPeripheral Neuropathy5 moreThis Registry study will prospectively evaluate the long-term effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of the StimRouter Neuromodulation System, along with evaluating the technical performance of StimRouter, surgical outcomes, health-related quality of life, concomitant medical use, and subject's impression of improvement.
