Adenovirus Keratoconjunctivitis and Ophtalmology

Adenoviral Keratoconjunctivitis

Adenovirus conjunctivitis is an epidemic disease registered as a common occupational disease for ophthalmologists and orthoptists. It can leave corneal sequelae even several years after infection. The primary aim of the study is to investigate the prevalence of these sequelae in the at-risk population of ophthalmologists and orthoptist. Secondary aim are to describe administrative procedures (occupational disease declaration and sick leave),infections characteristics; and risk factors.

Looking for Minimum Dose to Induce Sympathectomy in Infraclavicular Brachial Plexus Block

Finding the Minimum Dose to Induce Sympathectomy in Infraclavicular

For patients who undergoing hemodialysis, it is important to have good AV fistula. One third of AV fistula usually fail during early stage. It is helpful to use nerve block to dilate the blood vessels and enhance the prognosis. But 0.2% Ropivacaine usually cause muscle weakness in present studies. The investigators hope to find the lowest concentration to provide sympathectomy without muscle weakness. Because the patients with hemodialysis usually have multiple co-morbidity, thus we choose patients with forearm fracture at the first place. With this result, the investigators can design further study for patients with hemodialysis. The investigators prefer proximal approach because brachial plexus run together in the cosctoclavicular space and show lower incidence of incomplete work.

COVID-19 in Cancer Patients: Evaluation of Clinical Course and Impact on Oncological Care Including...

CancerCOVID

The COVIDHELP study will prospectively evaluate the yet unknown clinical course of the COVID-19 infection in cancer patients and document the impact of potential infrastructural limitations on cancer care of COVID-19 positive patients. All patients consenting will provide peripheral blood samples for prospective biobanking with the aim of investigating immune response and immunity against COVID-19.

Development of Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) in Patients With Severe SARS-CoV-2 Infection (COVID-19)...

Covid-19Pulmonary Fibrosis

COVID-19, the infectious disease caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, currently poses a global economic, social, political and medical challenge. The virus originated in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has spread rapidly around the world. Currently, European countries, including Austria, are severely affected. The most common computed tomographic changes in acute lung injury include bilateral and subpleural milk glass opacity, consolidation in lower lobes, or both. In the intermediate phase of the infection (4-14 days after the onset of symptoms) a so-called "crazy paving" may occur. The most prominent radiological changes occur around day 10, followed by gradual resolution, which begins two weeks after the onset of symptoms. Given the phylogenetic relationship between SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2, the similar clinical course in severe cases and overlapping CT patterns in the acute setting, persistent radiological and pulmonary functional changes in survivors are conceivable. It is also conceivable that a proportion of survivors will develop progressive ILD, either due to viral or ventilator-induced alveolar damage, or both. Here, the investigators intend to investigate COVID-19 survivors through clinical examinations, functional lung examinations, HR-CT scans, and by determining the "immunofibrotic" pattern in peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMCs) 1, 3, and 6 months after discharge.

Symbolic Regression Model To Predict Choledocholithiasis

Common Bile Duct Calculi

Choledocholithiasis refers to the presence of gallstones within the common bile duct. It is proposed to look for markers that help in the diagnosis and in differentiating between retained and migrated gallstones. The selection of patients is a very important aspect, due to the economic aspects and possible complications. Taking advantage of the development of technology, the improvement in computer systems, the use of artificial intelligence and a symbolic regression model that works to predict the presence of choledocholithiasis and provide evidence that clarifies the treatment of patients with this pathology, especially in this group where there is a bigger controversy.

Skills of Home Helpers for a Better Quality of Life for Adults With Huntington's Disease Living...

Quality of Life

Huntington's disease often brings together 3 types of symptoms at one time or another of the disease during its evolution: motor, cognitive and psychiatric. Management requires comprehensive and multidisciplinary health, social or medico-social support. Its development generates additional difficulties for professionals who very often qualify this disease as "very complex" because it leads to a deep and severe impairment of physical and intellectual capacities. The sick person gradually loses their autonomy and becomes dependent for the acts of daily life, hence the choice of this disease for our study. Our study is focused on the quality of life at home of patients followed by the Angers Reference Center, "expert" on neurogenetic pathologies. Studies focusing on patients' quality of life at home have so far never been undertaken for a rare neurodegenerative disease like Huntington's disease.

Malignancy Predictors, Bethesda and TI-RADS Scores Correlated With Final Histopathology in Thyroid...

Thyroid CarcinomaThyroid Papillary Carcinoma11 more

In the last decades, thyroid cancer incidence has continuously increased all over the world, almost exclusively due to a sharp rise in the incidence of the papillary histologic subtype, which has the highest incidence of multifocality. Furthermore, Black Sea and Eastern European regions are both endemic and known to have been under the influence of Chernobyl nuclear explosion. Although overscreening might have a role in certain parts of the world, the predictors of malignancy such as family history, genetical disorders, previous radiation exposure, low iodine intake, diabetes and obesity, should also be taken into consideration in determining the extent of surgery.

Gut Microbiome and Obesity

ObesityChildhood1 more

Pediatric obesity is a risk factor for the onset of obesity in adulthood and is a risk factor for various chronic non-communicable diseases. Metabolic syndrome (MS) is the name for a group of risk factors that increase cardiovascular risk and other health problems characterized by the presence of abdominal obesity, dyslipidemia, hyperglycaemia and high blood pressure. Numerous preclinical and clinical data suggest a potential role of the intestinal microbiota in these diseaes. Unfortunately, comparative studies of the gut microbiota are still scarce in pediatric subjects suffering from obesity than obesity complicated by MS. The aim is to study the metagenomics and metabolomics characteristics of the intestinal microbiota in obese children/adolescents with or without MS, that could provide useful data for innovative intervention strategies for these conditions.

Autonomic Reflexes During Intra-arterial Chemotherapy for Retinoblastoma

RetinoblastomaRetinoblastoma Bilateral1 more

Prospective observational study in patients undergoing intra-arterial ophthalmic artery chemotherapy for the treatment of retinoblastoma. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the incidence of cardiorespiratory autonomic reflexes in these patients and to investigate the association between autonomic reflexes and perioperative clinical characteristics.

Relation Between Lab Finding and COVID-19 Severity

COVID-19

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (COVID-19) poses substantial challenges for health care systems. With a vastly expanding amount of publications on COVID-19, clinicians need evidence synthesis to produce guidance for handling patients with COVID-19.
