The aim of the study is to investigate the epidemiology, natural history and treatment outcomes of acute hepatitis C (HCV) infection. Given the current pattern of case reporting, the cohort will be largely made up of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients, but HIV-negative patients with acute hepatitis C (AHC) will also be enrolled to enable comparisons to be made as appropriate and possible.

The present study is designed to determine the mutational status of markers (TET2 and PLCb2, cytogenetic aberrations) together with methylation status of the above genes using bone marrow and matched buccal cell samples from MDS patients who necessitate to start a treatment (i.e. EPO, Lenalidomide, Azacytidine). Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a history of more than two millenniums. Different practitioners may give different opinions according to their own experience and patients often feel frustrated about that. Therefore, it is worth recording cases of neurological diseases, with accurate western medicine diagnosis and TCM theory explained. Possible TCM treatments can be suggested accordingly. Being an academic research supervised by western medicine doctor, this study can help to suggest more objective opinion with least conflict of interest.
