The Use of Airtraq Laryngoscope Versus Macintosh Laryngoscope and Fiberoptic Bronchoscope by Experienced...

the Hemodynamic ParametersIntubation Times1 more

The investigators hypothesize that when used by experienced anesthesiologists, Airtraq laryngoscope will increase the first-attempt success rate with shorter intubation times and more stable hemodynamic parameters.

Thromboelastography During Surgery for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

CoagulopathyMesothelioma

Surgery for malignant pleural mesothelioma is complex and prolonged, and may involve significant blood loss with considerable blood and product transfusion. Thromboelastography (TEG) is a global assay of coagulation that uses whole blood to produce a tracing that records kinetic changes in clot formation. This study aims provide a better understanding of the coagulation profile of these patients, and will form the basis of a TEG-based transfusion algorithm for future surgeries for mesothelioma.

Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) in Advanced Gastric Cancer

Gastric Cancer

To assess the predictive value of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) for recurrence of advanced gastric cancer after radical resection. To identify the relationship between the detection of circulation tumor cells and recurrence patterns of gastric cancer after radical resection.

Cardiac Functions in Living Donor Liver Transplant Recipients. An Echocardiographic Study.

Liver Transplant

The stress of orthotopic living donor liver transplantation in patients with cirrhosis could induce worsening of an already recorded myocardial dysfunction or may be associated with a new myocardial dysfunction in patients previously having normal myocardial functions, therefore this study will be designed for intra-operative detection of new onset ventricular dysfunction or worsening of already diagnosed ventricular dysfunction in living donor liver transplant recipient and the possible contribution of several hemodynamic and oxygenation parameters in the generation of any cardiovascular function impairment will be also investigated and to determine the impact of ventricular dysfunction on early (7 PO days) graft function, 28 days survival and patient outcomes.

Research and Characterization of New Genes Involved in Intellectual Disability

Intellectual Disability

Intellectual disability (ID) occurs in 2 to 3 % of the general population but the cause is identified only in 30 to 60% of cases. The purpose of this study is to indentify genes involved in ID with new genetics tools (SNP-arrays, next generation sequencing...) and establish genotype-phenotype correlations.

RehaSleep Register - Prevalence of Sleep Apnea in Cardiac Rehabilitation

Sleep Apnea

Prevalence of sleep-related breath disturbance in patients in cardiac rehabilitation. The aim of the register is to enable a better diagnosis and early treatment initiation in the context of secondary prevention. In addition to the prevalence, the further course of the patients shall be documented after hospital discharge to verify any gaps (sleep laboratory, therapy introduction) and emphasize the importance of rehabilitation and to examine the possibility of initiating therapy in rehabilitation.

Differential Plasma MicroRNA Profiles in ED and Normal Erectile Function in Older Males

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is strongly associated with aging. With the rapidly expanding aging population and the increase in life expectancy, an increase in the prevalence of ED is expected in the years to come. Currently, the mechanism of ED is not fully understood. MicroRNAs (MiRNA) are endogenous small RNA molecules that control gene expression post-transcriptionally. It has been included in many in vitro physiology and pathophysiology processes, which also involved in the process of ED. This research was designed to investigate the differential plasma MiRNA profiles in ED and normal erectile function in older males. The results might tell us which MiRNA and how did it involved in the process of ED in aging.

MIOX for Early Detection of Acute Kidney Injury After Cardiac Surgery

Acute Kidney Injury

This is a single-center, prospective sample collection study. Samples will be used to establish the performance characteristics of myo-inositol oxygenase (MIOX) as an aid in the early diagnosis of acute renal injury (AKI) following cardiac surgery.

A French Multi-centric Atrial Fibrillation Catheter Ablation Survey

Observation of Outcome After Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation is the most frequent sustained arrhythmia. Catheter ablation is a procedure that is currently used for the treatment of symptomatic atrial fibrillation patients. We have organized a multi-centric national survey of catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation in order to have a feedback on the type of procedures being performed and the overall results (freedom of atrial fibrillation) over an average follow-up of 18 months.

Osteoarthritis Cardiovascular Risk Factors

OsteoarthritisCardiovascular Risk Factors2 more

We analyze retrospectively the relationship between traditional cardiovascular risk factors as hypertension, obesity, dislipidemia and diabetes and hand or knee osteoarthritis and we compare the results with a control groups of patients with soft tissue disease with no other rheumatologic condition.
