An Exploratory Study of Atezolizumab and Bevacizumab in Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Non-Small Cell...

Hepatocellular CarcinomaNon-small Cell Lung Cancer Metastatic1 more

This study is being done to look at how effective the drug, atezolizumab, with or without the drug bevacizumab, is for people with inoperable liver cancer or non-small lung cancer that has spread to the liver. This will be done by looking at the duration of time from starting the study drug(s) until the cancer worsens in study participants. This study will collect blood and tumor tissue samples from participants to look at changes to their tumor(s) before and after receiving atezolizumab and/or bevacizumab.

Verteporfin for the Treatment of Recurrent High Grade EGFR-Mutated Glioblastoma

GlioblastomaRecurrent Glioblastoma

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of Visudyne (liposomal verteporfin) and to see how well it works in treating patients with high grade EGFR-mutated glioblastoma that has come back (recurrent). Visudyne is FDA approved in combination with light to treat eye diseases. In this study we use Visudyne by itself like chemotherapy to kill tumor cells which may be sensitive to verteporfin.

Measuring the Effects of Talazoparib in Patients With Advanced Cancer and DNA Repair Variations...

Advanced Pancreatic CarcinomaAnatomic Stage III Breast Cancer AJCC v826 more

This phase II trial studies if talazoparib works in patients with cancer that has spread to other places in the body (advanced) and has mutation(s) in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage response genes who have or have not already been treated with another PARP inhibitor. Talazoparib is an inhibitor of PARP, a protein that helps repair damaged DNA. Blocking PARP may help keep cancer cells from repairing their damaged DNA, causing them to die. PARP inhibitors are a type of targeted therapy. All patients who take part on this study must have a gene aberration that changes how their tumors are able to repair DNA. This trial may help scientists learn whether some patients might benefit from taking different PARP inhibitors "one after the other" and learn how talazoparib works in treating patients with advanced cancer who have aberration in DNA repair genes.

Dendritic Cell Vaccination With Standard Postoperative Chemoradiation for the Treatment of Adult...

Glioblastoma

Effective treatments are desperately needed for glioblastoma (GBM) patients. This phase I clinical trial assesses the safety of a novel personalized dendritic-cell vaccine administered to GBM patients shortly after completing standard-of-care treatments. Secondary outcomes will evaluate patient progression-free survival and overall survival.

Peposertib and Radiation Therapy, Followed by Temozolomide for the Treatment of Patients With Newly...

GlioblastomaGliosarcoma

This phase I trial investigates the side effects and best dose of Peposertib, and to see how well it works in combination with radiation therapy in treating patients with newly diagnosed MGMT unmethylated glioblastoma or gliosarcoma. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Peposertib may further stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Chemotherapy drugs, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving Peposertib with radiation therapy may work better than radiation therapy alone in treating patients with glioblastoma or gliosarcoma.

Neo-adjuvant Transarterial Chemoinfusion (TAI) for Patients With Hepatocellular Carcinoma Beyond...

Hepatocellular CarcinomaLiver Transplantation

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second commonest cause of cancer death worldwide. Liver transplantation (LT) is the best curative treatment of HCC meeting Milan/UCSF criteria. Milan (solitary tumour <5cm, or up to 3 tumours, each <3cm) and University of California San Francisco (UCSF) criteria (solitary tumour ≤6.5cm, up to 3 tumours with none >4.5cm, and total tumour diameter ≤8cm) provide the benchmark requirements for LT, at which a 5-year survival of >70% and recurrence rate ranging from 5-15% can be achieved. Recently, FOLFOX (Oxaliplatin and 5-fluorouracil) based hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) exhibited high response rate for advanced HCC. Neo-adjuvant TAI for the HCC patients with beyond criteria serving as a down-staging method for the advanced HCC to meet Milan/UCSF criteria, and qualify for LT. This study is to compare the impact on survival of neo-adjuvant TAI for patients with beyond Milan/UCSF Criteria HCC who underwent LT.

Endoscopic Mucosal Resection Versus Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Colorectal Laterally Spreading...

NeoplasmsColorectal

EMR and ESD are both effective and safe and are associated with a very low risk of procedure related mortality when performed for colorectal laterally spreading lesions (LSL). Some kind of LSLs have a low risk of submucosal invasive carcinoma (SMIC) or these foci are found in well demarcated areas of the tumor. This is the case of the non-granular flat elevated (LSN-NG-FE) and the LSLs-G mixed subtypes. The investigators aim to assess if piecemeal EMR (the older technique) for LSLs-G mixed type > 30 mm and LSLs-NG FE type > 20 mm is not inferior to ESD (the new treatment) for the need of additional surgery in the mid-term.
