Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia in RemissionChildhood Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Remission

This research trial studies deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in blood or bone marrow samples from younger patients with acute myeloid leukemia. Studying samples of blood and bone marrow from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. It may also help doctors predict how well patients will respond to treatment.

Venous Thromboembolism in Advanced Gastric Cancer Patients

Advanced Gastric Cancer

Venous thromboembolism (VTE), which includes pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT), is a common complication and leading cause of death in cancer patients. Large, population-based studies have shown that patients with cancer have four- to seven-fold increased risk of developing VTE compared with patients without cancer. VTE would be frequent in patients with advanced gastric cancer, especially associated chemotherapy. However, relatively few studies have been conducted regarding the incidence of VTE in Asian cancer patients. According to previous review, Asian patients significantly lower risk of developing VTE. The rate of VTE with advanced gastric cancer, and associated chemotherapy is not known in Asian patients. In addition, the impact of VTE on overall survival has not been documented in these patients.

The Prognostic Impact of Extracapsular Lymph Node Involvement in Ductal Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma...

Pancreatic NeoplasmsPancreatic Adenocarcinoma

Extracapsular lymph node involvement (ECLNI) has been identified as a pathological variable associated with worse outcome in esophageal, gastric and colorectal cancer. No studies so far have studied its prognostic impact in ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma (DPAC). The goal of the investigators is to determine the prognostic value of ECLNI in a prospective consecutive series of 145 patients with DPAC, who underwent resection of their primary tumor between 1998 and 2005.
