Development and Validation of The Post-RT LARS Prediction Model (PORTLARS)

Low Anterior Resection SyndromeRadiotherapy1 more

Bowel dysfunction is common after a restorative rectal cancer resection. Neoadjuvant radiotherapy is an influential factor that impairs bowel function and quality of life. However, almost half patients who have received primary surgery with preoperative radiotherapy are able to restore a good or moderate bowel function in the long term. This multicenter observational study aims to identify the risk factors of severe bowel dysfunction after rectal cancer resection and neoadjuvant radiotherapy, in accordance with the LARS score, and to build a model that predicts long-term major LARS in the early stage of follow-up. Development and validation cohorts are enrolled from tertiary hospitals in China.

A Nomogram Model to Predict Central Lymphnode Metastasis in Thyroid Papillary Carcinoma

Thyroid Papillary Carcinoma

To establish and validate a suitable and practical nomogram for primary hospitals to predict the risk of central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) among thyroid papillary carcinoma (PTC) patients based on clinical and ultrasound characteristics among Chinese population,1000 PTC patients were retrospectively reviewed who underwent bilateral thyroidectomy or lobectomy plus central lymph node dissection(CLND) between June 2014 and September 2019 in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital (Guangzhou, South China), and then LASSO regression analysis was performed to screen out the possible predictors. Another 200 PTC patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University (Zhengzhou, North China) who underwent bilateral thyroidectomy or lobectomy plus CLND between March 2019 and November 2020 were enrolled to construct the nomogram. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves (AUC), calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the nomogram.

CE-IOUS Impact on Surgical Strategy of Liver Tumours and Liver Metastases

Liver NeoplasmsLiver/Hepatobiliary Cancer4 more

Contrast-enhanced intraoperative ultrasound (CE-IOUS) plays an increasingly important role in the surgical therapy planning of primary liver lesions as well as liver metastases. The present study was designed to evaluate the significance of CE-IOUS by specificity and sensitivity and particularly the impact it exerts on the surgical strategy. A secondary aim was assessing the outcome relevance of surgeries influenced by CE-IOUS.

Adaptative Radiotherapy to Decrease Xerostomia in Oropharynx Carcinoma (ARTOME)

Oropharynx Cancer

Standard treatment for oropharynx cancer is radiotherapy by intensity modulation with only one planification before treatment. Adaptative radiotherapy integrates one or several planifications during treatment radiotherapy in order to take into account anatomic modifications that occurs. Adaptative radiotherapy is very expensive, complex and is consuming human resources as well as equipment. ARTIX study (NCT01874587) entitled "Phase III trial testing the benefit of intensity-modulated radiotherapy with weekly replanifications versus intensity modulated radiotherapy with only one planification in locally advanced oropharynx carcinoma for decreasing xerostomia" is completed and clinical data from this study are used to analyse if xerostomia is decreased when adaptative radiotherapy is used. ARTOME study will assess cost-efficiency and cost utility between standard treatment (one pretherapeutic planification) and experimental treatment (weekly replanifications during treatment). Clinical data from ARTIX study will be used for ARTOME study.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma Imaging Using PSMA PET/CT

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The purpose of the research is to evaluate the use of a PSMA PET/CT (Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography) scan in the diagnosis of HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma) and comparing it to standard scanning techniques with CT (Computed Tomography) or MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
