The purpose of this study is to see whether gene mutations can be found in the urine or blood of lung cancer patients and urine of colorectal cancer patients. Gene mutations are when DNA in a gene is damaged in a way that changes the genetic message carried by that gene. Gene mutations can sometimes cause lung cancers. These gene mutations are only found in lung and colorectal cancer cells, not the normal cells in your body. All lung cancer tumors and colorectal cancer tumors are now tested for different gene mutations as their presence affects lung cancer treatment. Tumor samples obtained from a biopsy or surgery are typically tested for these gene mutations.

Feasibility of Generating Pluripotent Stem Cells From Patients With Familial Retinoblastoma

The goal of this study is to determine if human RB1-deficient induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) can produce retina, and, furthermore, can give rise to retinoblastoma in culture. This unique opportunity to study the initiation of retinoblastoma in the developing retina will shed light on the cell of origin for retinoblastoma and allow the investigators to study the earliest molecular and cellular events in retinoblastoma tumorigenesis. OBJECTIVES: To establish the feasibility of producing induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from retinoblastoma patients with germline RB1 mutations (RB1-deficient iPSCs). To validate human RB1-deficient iPSCs by confirming karyotype, pluripotency and RB1 mutation. To differentiate the RB1-deficient iPSCs into retina as a model of the initiation of retinoblastoma in the developing retina.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic technique that takes pictures of organs of the body. It uses magnetic fields and radio waves that cannot be felt. Perfusion MRI uses faster imaging. It also includes a contrast material that is given by vein. This makes specific organs, blood vessels, or tumors easier to see. Diffusion MRI lets us measure the motion of water in the tumor. Perfusion and diffusion MRI give extra information which is not available with the regular MRI. A regular MRI only shows pictures of the tumor. Thyroid MRI scans are not part of the current standard of care. The purpose of this study is to see if new MRI methods can give us more information about the tumor.

Despite the declining incidence, gastric cancer (GC) remains the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide. In France, it is the second digestive cancer with 7,000 new cases per year. It is now well demonstrated that patients with H. pylori infection, atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia, have a high risk of developing GC. It is therefore important to detect these pre-neoplastic lesions at an early stage to improve patients prognosis. Thus, the aim of this project is to investigate the possible screening of gastric precancerous lesions by a blood test (GastroPanel®) in France, in patients with oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) prescription.

Orbital masses develop at the expense of the orbital structures lacrimal glands, oculomotor muscles, optic nerve, meningeal spaces, peripheral nerves, bone wall, orbital fat, lymphoid structures or vascular structures. These masses can be tumors, benign or malignant, or pseudotumor, mainly represented by specific or non-specific orbital inflammation. Pathology is of considerable importance for the diagnosis and the treatment of those masses. However, biopsy or surgical resection of the orbital masses is sometimes difficult and dangerous outside expert centers. The identification of a non-invasive technique for distinguishing tumors from pseudotumors, thus avoid in some cases a biopsy, would be a major contribution for the patients. The MRI assessment performed routinely in a patient with an orbital mass includes morphological sequences T1, T2 fat suppression, T1 injected fat suppression, diffusion. This exploration requires, regardless of the performed research, a contrast agent injection (0.1 mg / kg weight of Gadobutrol®). In this research protocol, during the injection of the contrast agent performed during the MRI assessment performed routinely, a DCE perfusion sequence, which consists of a repeated acquisition at short intervals of a volume gradient echo T1, will be added. This acquisition will be preceded by two short series for calibration. The post treatment will include parametric permeability cards (Ktrans) and plasmatic volume (Vp), evaluating one or more regions of interest in the tumor, normal lacrimal glands, jaw muscles and nasal mucosa being the reference. It will also be added a magnetic susceptibility EPI sequence type. All the qualitative parameters (T1, T2, T1 injected, distribution, low signal intensity in susceptibility) and quantitative (Ktrans, Vp, relative intensity enhancement, apparent diffusion coefficient) parameters will be collected. The result of the pathological exam of the biopsy or of the surgical specimen, which is the gold-standard, will be collected.

Glycosaminoglycan Scores as Monitoring Biomarkers in Confined Renal Cell Carcinoma

In this study, a score based on glycosaminoglycan (GAG) profiling in subjects with suspicion of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is hypothesized to distinguish malignant masses when early actionable clinical decisions are desirable. For example to diagnose early recurrence after surgical treatment; to screen population at risk of RCC; or to distinguish benign masses from RCC before surgical treatment. To this end, plasma and urine GAGs will be measured in a prospective cohort of patients referred to surgical treatment for RCC. The resulting GAG scores are then correlated to post-surgical recurrence, to post-surgical definitive diagnosis and and to tumor size if RCC. In a subset cohort of patients at high risk of RCC recurrence, plasma and urine GAGs will be monitored to observe its correlation with disease recurrence.

We aimed to compare these two groups of patients at the time of diagnosis and confirm the efficiency of the screening programme.
