Endometriosis and Frequency of Endometriosis-associated Ovarian Carcinomas (EAOC)

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a relationship exists between a previously established diagnosis of endometriosis and the consecutive risk of developing a clear cell or endometrioid ovarian carcinoma. All histopathological records since 1980 with these diagnoses (endometriosis, clear cell and endometrioid ovarian carcinoma) will be reviewed. Cancer registry data will be assessed to investigate differences in survival of women with endometriosis-associated ovarian carcinomas and those ovarian carcinoma patients without previous diagnosis of endometriosis.

Definity for Ultrasound of Intraocular Tumors

Ocular Melanoma

The study will test the usefulness of a contrast agent to help image tumors in the eye. In this study, patients with eye melanoma who are going to have their eye removed, will have their eye imaged by ultrasound (sound waves) before and after intravenous injection of microbubbles. The pathology characteristics of the tumor in the removed eye will be compared with the images.

The study is intended to collect specimens to support the application of genome analysis technologies, including large-scale genome sequencing. This study will ultimately provide cancer researchers with specimens that they can use to develop comprehensive catalogs of genomic information on at least 50 types of human cancer. The study will create a resource available to the worldwide research community that could be used to identify and accelerate the development of new diagnostic and prognostic markers, new targets for pharmaceutical interventions, and new cancer prevention and treatment strategies. This study will be a competitive enrollment study conducted at multiple institutions.

Incidence of SCLN Metastasis in Patients Referred for EBUS-TBNA

Lung Cancer

Evaluation of the anatomic extent of a primary lung cancer and presence of metastasis are essential for selection of an appropriate management strategy. Endobronchial ultrasound transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a reliable and established technique to evaluate involvement of mediastinal lymph nodes (LN); however, it is an invasive procedure and may not be tolerated in patients with severe underlying lung disease. One exception is the superficially located supraclavicular lymph nodes (SCLN), which can easily be biopsied with percutaneous US-guided-fine needle aspiration (US-FNA). Traditionally, this nodal group is evaluated by palpation; however, literature suggests that palpation itself fails to capture 66% of proven disease by cytology, which challenges the acceptance that non-palpable nodes are indicative of absent disease. Since all palpable SCLN are biopsied to rule out metastasis, we may potentially up-stage more patients using ultrasound evaluation for non-palpable nodes; and offer more appropriate management. Currently, the incidence for non-palpable SCLN metastasis has not been defined in this patient population presenting for EBUS-TBNA. The primary objective is to determine the incidence of supraclavicular lymph node metastasis by ultrasound evaluation in patients referred for EBUS-TBNA.

France was gradually affected by SARS-Cov-2 from January 2020; it evolved in an epidemic mode in March and April 20. During the 1st phase of the epidemic, more than 250 000 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in France resulting in the death of more than 30,000 patients. Mortality from infection varies greatly depending on the age of the affected individuals and their comorbidities including a history of cancer. We conducted a retrospective study in 89 patients with lymphoma and Covid-19 during the first phase of the epidemic and showed a 30-day mortality of 29%. Mortality was higher in patients over 70 years of age and in a situation of relapsed or refractory disease. Lymphoma-induced hypogammaglobulinemia and / or lymphopenia as well as chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments are known to promote the development of infections in affected individuals. Among these, anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies, widely prescribed to treat B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas (B-NHL) induce a rapid depletion of over 95% of mature CD20 + B cells. This can alter the production of antibodies, and the constitution of memory responses to a new pathogen. Also, B lymphocytes have a key immunomodulatory role in the control of viral infections. The specific immune response to SARS-CoV -2 and its evolution remain under characterization. Regardless of their neutralizing capacity, specific IgM appear 5 days after the onset of symptoms while IgG appear after 14 days. The immune response to SARS-CoV-2 also includes a T lymphocyte component, with an increase, among circulating lymphocytes, of activated CD8 and CD4 T lymphocytes. Data are still lacking on the specific response of CD4 and CD8 T lymphocytes against SARS-CoV-2, but these responses probably play a crucial role in virus clearance as well as in the immunopathology associated with SARS-CoV-2. Therapeutic depletion of B lymphocytes before acute infection may alter the generation of primary and functional responses. Therefore, a growing concern is whether patients with B-NHL who have acquired an infection with SARS-CoV-2 are protected against re-infection in the same way when they have or have not received anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies. Analyzing the clinical and immunological evolution of Covid-19 in patients with B-NHL is useful to adapt the treatment recommendations in their regard according to the risk of severe form of Covid-19 . This is a multicenter, prospective study to determine whether treatment with monoclonal anti-CD20 antibodies in patients with B-cell NHL modifies the clinical and immunological course of Covid-19.

Metastatic MelanomaCNS Metastases

This study has two ultimate goals: Understand how the original melanoma from the skin spreads to the CNS. In order to study this we need to collect (and compare) the original skin melanoma, the CNS melanoma, as well as any other melanoma that has not metastasized to the CNS. Develop a diagnostic blood test that will early identify subjects at high risk for developing CNS metastasis or patients who may already have CNS metastasis but the MRI or the CAT scan cannot yet detect it. Thus, the investigators plan to collect CSF from subjects like you who have melanoma CNS metastases in order to confirm the presence of this biomarker.
